Faripari, BevJev absolutely right. You have no blame here. You have been working very hard to do what is best for your mom. You wisely depended on the expertise of the medical team treating her. You cannot spend time with “what if” or “maybe” or “if only”. No one can predict how a particular patient will respond to treatment. Everyone is unique, everyone’s tumors are unique, and each individual’s response is unique. I am praying for your mom and your family. I know how difficult this must be for especially since you are so far away. We are all here for you

    Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

Farpari...I couldn't have told you to tell your mom NOT to have TACE...I am not a doctor and I had no idea how big your moms tumor is...also some people that have BIG tumors have TACE and have NO PROBLEMS AT ALL...obviously your moms doctor is right and her liver just couldn't handle everything. That reaction of your moms liver failing could also have happened even if she just got chemo and not TACE (depending on how bad her liver was.)

Faripari, my medical oncologist believes in the physician motto, "First do no harm" ( paraphrased). But when I was in visceral crisis with my liver, she consulted with my DH, suggesting systemic chemo was my only shot, but it was risky..toxic liver, organ shutdown, for example. It was risky and it worked. But we did not know that in advance.

It sounds like your mom's MO and liver specialist made the best decision that they could to control quickly a concerning situation. They do not want to harm your mom..only help her have a chance with an angry liver.

Holding you in prayers. Please be gentle with yourself.. you have fought for her, you are a wonderful daughter.

Leftfootforward, are you out of hospital yet? I planned to take my Procrit shottoday , but got a call at noon , that my iron is too low, not qualified for Procrit, and had to go in for iron IV infusion. My condition apparently is called iron deficiency anemia (IDA). So, I am now in treatment center for iron IV drip. Hope you will get better soon.

    Thankyou all for your words

I have faith in mine and all of your prayers

My mom is strong and a fighter , she prayed 5 times daily and prayed in last part of night before dawn every every day she is a devout Muslim and I have full faith that Allah will have mercy on her , he will answer her and our prayers . Never doubt his capability and never loose hope , if he says “BE” and it’s done .

Even though I am a doctor and science has its valid reasons in many such scenarios , I still ask patients to take a step back and call HIM with devotion and sincerity , he can move mountains and that’s what I tell to myself and all my mothers and sisters here . It’s just at times you knowthe daughter in me cries , u know even until she left for India whenever I used to visit her she used to put a morsel of food in my mouth coz I act as a shabby spoilt kid in frnt of her for extra attention and Wallahi I promise when she puts the morsel of food in my mouth , no luxury or money or anything summed up together is equal to that one moment .

For all you mothers sisters and frnds including me let’s be thankful for everyday bestowed on us let’s trust and believe in HIM and never give up on our prayers and never stop asking him , never doubt our prayers .

Leftfootforward, my Onc tried several elimination processes, still could not figure out the reason for my IDA. My guess that it has something to do with my current AA treatment. Because I have been anemic for quite a long time, the rapid decrease only happened during last 7-8 months after I started AA. Onc planned to discuss my case in the coming tumor board meeting.

I did decide to schedule a consult with a neurosurgeon and with a radiation oncologist just to have in my pocket. Trying to relax today before results tomorrow.

Nicole, there's nothing I can add to what others have already said except to tell you I'm holding you in my heart and thoughts and wish you the best going forward in treatment. Wrapping my virtual arms around you.

LFF, so glad you're home and holding you, too!

SP, happy to hear you're feeling better.

LFF - glad you are out f the hospital. Enjoy that sunshine.

Nicolerod- I just had SBRT to my lung lesion. Cyber knife is a brand name for SBRT. It was an easy time for me- 4 sessions. The RO consults with another specialist to get the best “aim” And they did a trial run without the rads so I would know what the whole treatment would be like.

    Blessings all.

Nicole, in your pocket, too. I have a T11 met, and while I know much different than C7, I just wanted to chime in that I had it radiated four years ago and it's dead. Very targeted therapy that went well and I never had any problems afterwards. Good luck!

Nicole, I hope you get a good night’s rest and have good appointments tomorrow. We will be waiting for your report.

    Faripari,

It is sad to lose this beautiful woman to an unfair disease. I had hoped her liver would heal and she could continue her life.

Peace and joy to her soul.

Thank you for sharing her with us. Thank you for showing us a daughter's love. You worked so hard to give her a chance to survive.

Your faith is strong and it will help you heal as you navigate life without her.

Faripari - I am so very sorry for the loss of your Mom I know your heart must be broken because of the tremendous love you had for her. You have been a beautiful wonderful daughter to your mom and it is clear how much you love her and how much she must love you. Although she no longer lives in this earthly realm, she will live in your heart forever. You will always have her with you, a part of you. She is gone from earth but I believe not so very far away. Now she is at peace with her maker - no more suffering.

Ok so the radiation oncologist said that the tumor in C7 is well into the bone and not out of it right now he doesn't feel we should do any treatment to it right now...that we should try and get a cancer treatment to work and hopefully work on it. If it gets worse then we will obvously have to revisit it. The sacrum does have a fracture due to the cancer and that will not heal unless we kill the cancer with either radiation or a treatment..he said its really up to me...it wod be between 5 to 10 treatments once a day each day. I told him I would think about it. No good news there is a 3rd tumor in liver now and the interventional radiaologist told my oncologist (not me yet) that he can't do the TACE procedure on them bc it will only be 30% effective i am thinking this is based on location(near colon wall and the arteries of thr tumor but sgain he hadnt called me yet). She wants to go to chemo. I believe there is only 2 left to try. She won't go back to endocrine therapy bc she said the disease is too aggressive right now. she mentioned Erubilin bc its good on liver tumors and of course Abraxane. She would like to have the IR get a sample for Tempus over F1 im agreeing at this point. Im carying and very upset. I realize now this is coming to the end of the line. By that I mean a year tops. Just my feelings.

faripari. I am sad that you and your family have to endure the pain of losing your mother. I hope you have no regrets as to how hard you tried to help her. I'm glad you know that she is in a lovely place without pain.

Dee. Good for you getting SBRT for your lung met. I have numerous lung mets. I wouldn't be a candidate for SBRT, right?

Shetland, I'm so glad you got the replacement stents. Let the healing begin. First things first......breathing fresh air.

LFF. Glad you're home and you docs can unravel the mystery of low HGB. Mine was a combination of chemo ( gem carb) and liver mets. My IR explained that the blood vessels in the liver enlarge as the tumors get bigger and demand more blood. So, I was losing blood to my tumors. Mine got down to 5.2.

After my y90s, the blood vessels started going down to normal size pretty quickly.💞
