    Nicole,

I don't have any idea about this, but maybe someone on this thread can tell you if they can put some kind of padding down on the table to ease your back discomfort during your PET. It's not like the machine can't "see" through it or else they wouldn't offer blankets when we have these scans. Even if you are not in pain with your back, those tables are NOT easy to lay on for any length of time. And the sheets that they usually put on the tables are NOT any help at all.

    As always, pulling for you.

    Nicole,

Maybe they can prop you up a bit on that side? I know exactly what you are talking about from my ablations. But perhaps they can put in a wedge or pillow on that side so that it relieves the pressure on that side? Just a thought.

Nicole, Thanks for letting us know how you’re doing. I’m so sorry that you’re still struggling with pain and discomfort. I don’t know if your niece lives near you at all, but if she does, maybe she could help with some gentle back and shoulder massage? PTs are so good with their hands and the right touch can be powerful. Sending good vibes for the PET tomorrow.

Good to hear from you Nicole. Pain, or managing it, is a real nightmare and everything takes So long to heal. Mentally you must be really struggling, but hopefully little glimpses of relief give hope. Just had a nuclear bone scan myself - stillness for 30 mins - since I still have pain too I had myself propped, knee wedged and helped onto and off the table. Felt like a total diva, but there was no way that scan was going to be completed otherwise. Ask for whatever you need!

Nicole, so glad to see you post, but so sorry you're still struggling with pain. In your pocket for the PET scan tomorrow. I just had one last week. Do ask for the knee wedge if not offered. That definitely helps take pressure off for me to lie on my back. And extra right side wedge as BevJen said if they can do it. Hugs.

    Nicole,

I pray for peace for you and that the doctors can somehow manage your pain to make this time more comfortable for you. I cannot imagine what you are going through with all this pain. Wish I could take it away. i have never heard of this with Y90 treatments and so unfair that this had to happen with you. Praying that news on PET scan is good and can give you some relief.

Nicolerod, is there a way that pain relief can be given as a rectal insert to prevent the intense stomach pain?

Chronic pain is so debilitating and can make one give up too soon. I just feel if you can manage your pain, you can take charge of your cancer treatment.

Can you see a pain specialist or consult with one over the phone?

I hear your despair. I pray you get some help with the pain and get some hope to keep going. It seems someone out there should be able to get you comfortable with out the horrid side effects.

Nicole - sandibeach has a good idea. Ibuprofen does come in rectal formulations and works well. Also, if taking orally are you making sure to always take it with food? .Food can reduce some of the pain from the advil.

or maybe naproxen might be better for you? But again, should be taken with food. When I had cycling fevers and was taking meds around the clock I also had crackers/cookies by the bedside for the night doses. It's a pita but did help me.

I also agree a pain specialist would be helfpul. Maybe it's time to get back on opioids until everything is healed?

I really hope things turn around. Remember we talked about how when you feel pain it seems like you can't imagine a life that's not painful, can't remember what it's like to not be in pain? Our brains lie to us. Don't listen. Trust that you can feel well and be pain free again.

Just heard from Nicole -- she had her PET scan yesterday and today had a video conference with her MO, who looked at it with her IR.She is in a lot of pain today in her liver, so asked me to post for her.

Thank the Lord -- ALL of the mets in her liver are dead, even the original cryoablated lesion. Her C7 and sacrum mets are the same. She has one new met at T3 in her spine. But in light of all of this, her MO wants to go to endocrine therapy next, and will be discussing that in 2 weeks with her.

She probably won't post that soon, but she wanted to let you all know about this great news.
