Tennisfan, hope your surgery goes well and hope your chemo is tolerable.
Lisa, I have had shingles three times so I can sympathize. Even after the vaccination I still got them two times. Hopefully you have had the vaccination because for me those incidents were not as bad as the first round.
Scottie, sounds like you have been busy. Sorry to hear you have to have more surgery.
I have been taking a photography class so have been super busy. It continues through next week. Here are some shots both from home and from an orchid nursery.

Tennisfan, hoping all goes well and you recover quickly from surgery. Nancy, luv the flowers. I need to get back to our botanical garden soon.
I had a great time photographing both the local Night to Shine and our school's winter ball. I'm playing around with Lightroom and other editing programs at the moment.
This is my ds from the ball, edited for an old fashioned look.

Nancy, I couldn't get the shot because I have chemo induced cirrhosis and it's a live virus. I would have if I could have.

Nice pic of your son. I bet that was fun shooting those events. I am taking a very intense two week course on Photoshop Elements 15. Hopefully once I get the idea I can eventually graduate up to the full blown Photo Shop. Right now I am looking at photo editing monitors.
Lisa, sorry to hear that you can't get the shot. Really sorry to hear about your chemo induced cirrhosis. My first round of shingles was bad but I did get on the meds in time as there is a very short window to do that as you probably know. The actual shingles and pain was bad enough but for me I ended up having a month of residual fatigue which was pretty bad. I have never heard of anyone else having that so hopefully you won't. I was teaching at the time and luckily this happened towards the end of the school year so I had some summer to recuperate. Did you ever buy a photo editing monitor? I remember you talking about it a while ago.

Thanks Joanne.

Lisa how are you doing with your shingles? I sure hope the worst is over for you.

Nancy, time will tell, thanks for asking. Pain is better.
Scottie, that looks like so much fun. I have Lightroom but haven't really explored it yet.
I just love how many varieties of hibiscus there are.

Love the flower effect Scottie.
Lisa, glad you are better. Love that huge hibiscus pic.
I finished a very intense last two weeks on photo editing workshops. I am finally shooting in camera raw now that I know how to actually use the software. I am using PSE 15 for now and it will certainly do everything I need for now. I just ordered a very expensive 27 in monitor and will probably get a more high powered laptop to keep up with the new monitior. I am transformaing my music studio into a photography room. Expensive project but I am excited at what is to come.
My pink orchid posted last was a weekly winner in our newspaper so I was tickled as I have not had any flower pics as a winner. That gave me some motivation.
Have a gread day. I hope your shingles are on the way out the back door!

Thanks Lisa. I wanted to ask you ladies if you use a PC or Mac in your photo editing. I thought I was going to have to buy a new laptop as that is what will be powering this new large monitor that is coming in a few days but found out mine will be fine. The Geek squad guy told me he is a Mac user. In all the research I have done I ran across one guy that said most photographers use Macs. I was surprised. I think I will probably stick with my PC just because at my age I am not really wanting to learn a whole new operating system. Just learning the ins and outs of my photo editing software will take me a very long time.
My laptop is very old and I know I will have to get one probably in the near future and that will probably mean learning Windows 10. UGH!
Lisa, for what it is worth in my PSE workshops they did talk about both Photoshop and Lightroom. It sounds like Lightroom is great for wedding photographers or event photographers who want to edit a bunch of photos at the same time. It also sounds like there are more choices when editing in camera raw than in Photoshop Elements. I had two different teachers this past two weeks. One of them used Photoshop but taught the Elements classes and the other used both Elements and Lightroom. Scottie I am sure could weigh in on this as I think she uses a couple of different software programs.
Have a good evening ladies.

I just use a PC

I use a pc. Had to buy a new laptop in Dec. as old one was failing. Windows 10 is okay, would rather have kept 7. As for photoediting, I have an annual subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. That gives me all the current software and any updates. Got tired of buying new versions of photoshop. Lightroom is definitely best for editing batches of photos. I was able to edit my school winter ball and Time Tebow Night to Shine photos much more quickly.

Very pretty Joanne. Did you use your new camera? Yes, this has been a crazy winter for sure and things are so mixed up. I saw a robin weeks ago and I heard this bird singing really loudly today even though it was in the 40's. My chipmunks are really confused and they have come out of hibernation already.
I am sticking with my PC or a new one at least. Scottie, when you have an Adobe subscription to you get both Photoshop and Lightroom in that?
Thanks for the input.

Joanne, she is a Grand Dame! So cute and all decked out in her St. Paddy's bow I am assuming.

Jo . . .what a sweet and Adorable grandpuppy. Nancy the Creative Cloud subscription includes both on Amazon as a download. I think I paid $99 but it's worth the price.

Not sure when I took this picture. Found a copy and played with it in Lightroom CC. Lisa hope your finally feeling better. I go back to my PS tomorrow to set an ASAP surgery date for an EX revision, which will hopefully help my nerve pain.

Found out on Wednesday that I'm having major revision surgery due to CC on March 20. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this news, I'm in increasing pain and I have 7 more days of work including this weekend.
Hopefully I will finally get a full recovery. I've had trouble for the past two months photographing my charity events.

Scottie, sorry to hear your news. I have been sick since last Friday and am still not out of the woods so haven't posted here for a while. Love your panda shot. I am assuming from your bio that Capsular Contraction is what you mean by CC. I have never heard of that but obviously it is a painful thing and hopefully whatever can be fixed by the surgery to a good outcome. Will pray for your surgery coming up.
Lisa, how are your shingles? Hopefully you are at the tail end of it all.
Joanne, if I could even attempt to make jewelry as well as you photograph I would be a very surprised woman. BTW Joanne is a professional jewelry maker and her work is gorgeous.

Thanks Nancy. Hope you're feeling better now. Capsular Contracture is essentially when the scar tissue around the implant contracts and makes it hard rather than squishy. I guess pain varies but mine has been progressively worse. I should have go to the new PS sooner. My former PS is not on my current insurance.
Lisa hope the shingles are resolving.
Praying we're all able to get back to the photography we love soon.

This is for you as you prepare for your surgery on Monday. Praying all goes well and that you will have a speedy recovery.

Nancy. . .thank you!!! I'm trying to stay upbeat, but I'm exhausted from a really rough week at work and trying to get stuff done on my list today and tomorrow. At least I don't have much time to think about it beforehand. I won't be photographing for several weeks but our Heron and Egret are back on the lake so by summer I can start stalking them again.

I'm sure you will be back with your camera before you know it. Glad to hear some of the water birds are back. I am typing on a new laptop with Windows 10 and trying to figure that all out. I bought a 27 in NEC monitor but am still figuring out the new OS before hooking it up. Big learning curve on both the calibration and the OS.
Let us know how you are doing when you can.

Beautiful pics Lisa. Such inviting places to visit. Lisa how are your shingles at this point?
Scottie, I hope you are resting comfortably tonight after a hopefully successful surgery with good pain control.

Lisa, sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon.
Scottie, hope you resting comfortably after your surgery. I just saw a cute segment on the news of these baby pandas from China and thought of you.
