thinking about the eclipse. I am not planning to watch this one. But I did in 2012.
The before and after sky.

Joanne, I LOVE your flowers. Those hibiscus are huge!
Lisa, gorgeous eclipse pics.
I hear that this eclipse will fry your camera's sensor if you don't have a special filter. So no pics from me.
This is called a Compass flower and they are in bloom everywhere in our forest preserves now.

Nancy, thanks for the picture... I can finally stand and take a couple of steps with the boots and a walker..one day at a time!

Could not get the right solar lens for my DSLR cameras so Samsung Cell technology (with solar glasses cover) only for the Great American Eclipse.
We spent the day at our local science museum that has a planetarium, observatory and great outdoor areas. Could not get a good photo of the sliver of the near totality that was visible (98% totality for us), but did get one photo showing the beginning by putting cell phone up to one of their telescope eyepieces (white filter on telescope). Also interesting crescent patterns on the ground at near totality.
We are already planning on 2024 Eclipse that will happen on ds' birthday. Plenty of time to invest in the right camera equipment and experiment before then.
Next stop find a lunar eclipse to photograph.

I took this outside our apartment during the Ecllipse... I just took it with my Kindle Fire..

One of my resident hummingbirds. She sits above our front feeder and dives at the other two who try to drink from it. No worries though we have two more feeders so plenty to go around.

More hummers: The first one I took during Hurricane Irma, which hit us as a tropical storm.

I just love them 😊😊😊

I am so impressed. I wouldn't even think of being able to photograph a hummingbird.

Lisa, great to see a pic from you. Cute little warbler. How are you doing?
IHG, very interesting shot. Looks like a UFO!
Scottie, love your hummers. I think mine have mostly migrated and I only saw one briefly last night at my feeder but most have gone I think.

I can't wait to get vertical again
I am transitioning to a walker. I can almost do it but the one broken ankle with the surgery is lagging, painful.
Wish I could get out to take photos
Soon
Love the hummers. We have many here. But I can't get to put out a feeder.

Nancy those are gorgeous hummers. Mine seem to have finally left for the fall so I will have to go back to stalking the panda twins at our zoo. Still haven't caught this set outside. They are always in the indoor day room but will be out more with cooler fall temps.

Thanks Scottie. Glad you made it through the hurricanes okay.
Lisa, I hope you can soon take some pics. Glad you are transitioning to a walker. I know these things take so long. I hope you are healing well and won't have any complications.
We have to put my mom in a facility when something opens up so that has been difficult She will soon be 92. I have lived with her going back and forth for the last six years so she could stay in her home but her mental decline is happening more quickly that we would like. She does not want to leave her home.
I have been in this ongoing photo contest which started in May and goes clear to the end of the year. There is a theme for each month. I just got in on it the latter part of June. I haven't had lots of chances to take pics for this thing but this past week I was out in the middle of the woods looking for fungus as that was the theme for Sept. Not fun today as I got lost in the woods.
This pic was my biggest find and I believe it is called Turkey Tails Mushroom. What I had to go through to get the pic was something else!!! They do not allow much photo editing so what you see is what you get!

Awesome! I've never even seen a picture of one of those.

wow Nancy. LOVE them. I guess you didn't stay lost for long!

Thanks ladies. You would think that a 66 year old woman would know better than to venture into a new forest preserve by herself but the things we do to get those shots some how seem to justify the madness. I have a terrible sense of direction which doesn't help any. I did give myself a pretty good scare today though. I don't think I will be hunting for fungus anymore for a very long time.!!!!

Beautiful moon out tonight

Three years ago I bought a new tablet and the first picture I took was October 1st. I was getting ready for autumn. I am amazed at how well the camera in the tablet takes photos.

Lisa, nice moon shot. Lovely autumn place setting!

I took this from a trainride... it looks like a reflection of a woman, but it wasn't from the train

This was the train ride too

Jan, yes I see the cross now that you have pointed it out.
The reflection of the woman is extraordinary! Looks like a wonderful train ride.

Very neat Lisa. I noticed how cool the moon looked tonight as it has a haze over it. Getting ready to go to my mom's so not much time for picture taking now.
