    B-A-P,

How are you doing? Did you ever make an appointment to see a liver specialist? I have mine on March 25. I tried to move it up but my oncologist talked with the liver doc and she said that my numbers don't warrant me going into see her any sooner, so I'm going to let it be until the 25th of March and see what happens. I may have another CT scan before then anyway.

Male BC and Sunshine-I have also gained weight under Ibrance/Letrozole. I feel like I eat well and exercise a lot but it's a challenge to shed weight. I've lost a few pounds since the New Year but it's a slog. I'd rather be thinner but I figure having cancer there will come times when I can't eat and this extra weight might be helpful.

Ciaci - That is a big but. Fingers crossed it’s not malignant. 🤞🏻

BAP - I’ve had PET scans at 3 different facilities and they all mentioned SUV numbers but each radiologist definitely had their own way of reporting. And some are definitely more thorough then others. I guess that is human nature. I just wish as they were doing their job that they would remind themselves that these results are so very important to the patient. And I’m definitely looking forward to getting my scans completed at the same facility from here on out. I just wish my MO actually reviewed my scans too - not just the report. That would be “Regina’s perfect world”.

MaleBC - I find that the lower my estrogen, the harder it is to maintain a healthy weight.

I think winter in Naples is officially over. Hopefully we won’t see anymore lows in the 50s (or 40s 😳). This week’s task is freshening up my pots. I have 12 large pots and really enjoy the plant selection process but it is time consuming. I’m always looking for the perfect grouping to put a smile on my face. I see my MO on Thursday. Hopefully my blood is tolerating xeloda well. Enjoy your day.

    Hi Bev,

They aren't sending me to one at the moment* face palm* I See my MO next week so maybe I'll bring it up again but she is pretty convinced it's all from the liver regenerating and the mets dying off so fast. She said my liver numbers are fabulous so there's no actual loss of function (even though i question that slightly considering the ascites and portal hypertension). I had to ask again to be sent to GI to have varicies monitored since that's a high risk of coming back . I almost didn't make it in hospital so if i had a bleed at home , I know i'd likely be done in for. I believe the heptologist works in the GI unit so I wonder if my GI doc can refer for a consult there.

I think the thing is that they believe i'm getting better and am on the meds to control it, so there's not a whole lot the specialist will do. So I guess if they are still stuck in that mindset then i'll wait to see what your specialist says. It might give me more ammo.

I'm doing well otherwise as far as I know. I have bloodwork next week for post cycle 4 - I still may ask to stay on the same scheduling 3/2 since it's been working for me and I'm way too nervous to see what 3/1 would do considering our covid situation here.

    B=A-P,

Well, I'll be sure to report what this doc says but like you, my MO isn't that concerned (but it takes a lot to get her concerned about anything.)

In any event, I am now off xeloda, which was one of the drugs that I kept seeing in those articles about pseudocirrhosis. I've switched back to fulvestrant and am taking that with neratinib because I have lobular cancer with two ERRB2 mutations. The fulvestrant is a little bit easier on my body than the xeloda.

Hope things continue to go well for you.

MaleBreastC, I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer, but while on Ibrance, my weight stayed pretty steady. I'm now on Xeloda and fulvestrant. I was dropping weight again, which happens because I have it in my stomach, and after starting these two meds, I've gained eight pounds. Can't tell if it's because of meds or being able to eat more or a combination.

Ciaci, I’m hoping for no metastasis.

Ciaci - Let's go arthritis!! This is probably the only place anyone would say that!

Ciaci -- I like big buts, I cannot lie -- if in this case it turns out to be arthritis!

MaleBC, I've lost a little weight while on Ibrance, but I'm sure it's because I upped my daily exercise and increased my commitment to a whole foods, mainly plant based diet. The more I can do to reenforce my immune system to help the Ibrance and anastrozole, the better.

MaleBC - I looked up the side effects of Faslodex and Ibrance and neither lists weight gain as a side effect.

Cowgal- Thanks for looking it up for me, my MO says that weight gain is a good sign, it means there is no catabolism, whatever it means..

Ciaci - did you have tumor marker increase at all that would correlate with progression? I know they aren't 100% predictive, but my L4 situation is not turning out to be as straightforward as originally appeared and as far as I know I don't have tumor marker increase (I dont have free access to this information but MO would have flagged it as an additional evidence point) and no pain.

i just started on my 3rd cycle of Ibrance and Fulvestrant, I have some more questions

    1. I heard taking long flights of 8 to 9 hours could be risky as it could trigger Deep Vein Thrombosis ?

    2. Does this change combination plus xgeva work to reduce bone mets ?

Any other suggestions or list of dos and don’ts ?

    male breast

I don’t know about ibrance or fluvestrant exacerbating thrombosis. Many people o. This thread have taken long flights myself included since treatment. I took a few long trips during treatment Hawaii, Saudi Arabia and Morocco. Do you have any problems with thrombosis before? I wanted to travel while I still felt healthy. I’m glad I did and hope to travel some more waiting for Covid to diminish.

I currently take zometa for the bones infusio once every 3 months and faslodex and ibrance. I’m sure someone will chime in that takes your exact same medication combo.

    Good luck with wverythin

MaleBreastC, I have a blood clotting disorder. I have traveled for about four hours in a plane. What I do is stand up about every half hour to keep the blood circulating. You can even walk the aisle a few times.

I’m also on Zometa. It hasn’t decreased my Mets, but I haven’t fractured anything.

MaleBreastC - Ive been warned about DVT clots on flights as cancer itself can actually make the blood thicker. The usual info - wear compression socks ( I got cute ones from Comrad that arent the beige super boring medical grade compression socks like my father has to wear), get up and walk around every hour or so, dont drink alcohol, drink a lot of water. I also seek out itineraries either with an extra stop so I can walk around or I just pay more to get more leg room so I can move around a bit. The last time I took a long haul economy flight I stood up upon landing and a lumbar disc herniated (this was pre-cancer) so I was already scarred!

Before diagnosis I flew long haul many times - to the US, to Asia, etc. and even knowing now I had circulating cancer, I didn't have an issue. I seem to recall MO mentioning that the drugs can also have some risk for DVT in general, but so long as you take preventative action to keep the blood moving, it should be ok.

Your current combo should help to reduce/repair/hold stable your existing bone mets. It healed mine quite a bit,the Xgeva in particular, especially as I had lytic lesions in my pelvis (the bone is eaten away)

    Hi!

I'm officially off Ibrance and onto Verzenio (if it gets approved.) I have a 2 whole cycles of Ibrance 100 sealed that I won't be using. PM me if you have any suggestions for what I should do with it. Hope everyone has a great day.

Call it like it is SF-cakes. I have a hard time telling people I'm close to that I need them. I'll be wanting them to check in, and not wanting to share out without them inquiring, then feeling upset they didn't ask to begin with. At times we are completely alone on this journey, but we can ask for support when we need it. If we let ourselves. I feel you. Hugs your way!

Yesterday’s frustration is this morning’s resolve that my husband can’t possibly know what my journey is like. He is a wonderful caretaker and never complains if we have to cancel plans and he will drive anywhere to get me food that will sooth my tummy etc but yesterday I was frustrated when I tol

    SFCakes hilarious.

I'm sitting here with my back against a heating pad making all sorts of mind plans. I'll see what this body actually does besides sit here.

    Have a good day all

KBL - So sorry. I started rambling today and after typing way too much, I started to delete what I wrote. Somehow I posted before the whole story was deleted. I’m doing just fine. Sometimes, I just need to put my thoughts down on paper so that I can realize that my problems are small. Thanks for caring. In brighter and happier news, my hubby did a great job today washing down the pool deck, washing the dog, the windows and the tile floors. Yes, I helped but believe me, he did the lion’s share and for that I am grateful.

Anyone moved from Ibrance to any other CDK inhibitors ? Just wondering what comes if Ibrance +Fulvestrant fails ?

MaleBC, most Ibrance dancers seem to move on to Verzenio after Ibrance. But many still come back to check up on us.

SF-Cakes, thanks for the Calvin cartoon. I hate to confess that I've acted that way since long before MBC. But I'm trying to do better!

RK2020, your DH is a good man.

Hugs to everyone and in your pockets for scans. My next will be in early April. A few days later we're actually going on a vacation -- COVID, Schmovid. 2 years is enough to live like a hermit -- and I'm a hermit by nature :-)

MaleBreastC - Xeloda also is a popular next line after Ibrance. Depends on the MO really, and your own particular cancer. Because its similar to Ibrance in what it is targeting, it may not make sense to switch to a similar, but slightly more powerful, CDK 4/6 inhibitor.
