So i spoke to the IR today. We are going to do ablation to the 1 liver met that keeps growing (that previously had Y90-1/2 dose) I didn't realize you go under general anesthesia for this. She also answered my question that she does biopsies and treatment for lung mets she prefers cryo for lung mets.

So does anyone have info on liver met ablation?? BEV?

This thread has been pretty quiet for some months so here's a bump and information about a new therapy being tested in ClinicalTrials.gov #NCT04572633 - it involves hitting hepatic lesions with sound waves. Called histotripsy, my cancer center is a participant along with other Midwest sites and Florida.

The noninvasive technology can be used on tumors up to 3cm. Protocol CSP1427 is also titled HOPE4LIVER (which I like!). A phase I report was recently published at https://doi.org/10.1080/02656736.2022.2112309

Yes, HistoSonics was using their VORTX Rx device for prostate a decade ago however the Theresa study for liver was just published this summer. So, it's newer than Y90 which has been around since the 1990s.

As I understand the procedure, a clear path is required - no ribs in the way, etc. Also interesting is the marketing partnership with GE HealthCare. Their MRI development facility is right down the road but there are, of course, many other locations handling various manufacturing and research functions.

My mets are probably too widespread for this to work anyway. I'm awaiting results from the Eovist scan done Tuesday in order to start a management plan…

Nicolerod, Did you get your information on liver ablation? I had it done in June 2016, 2 mets, new tumor found January 2020. It was laparoscopic but still needed time for recovery.

I’m so thankful to those who started this thread years ago. I followed when it was more active and learned so much from them to store for future. Last year I developed a liver lesion that did not respond to my chemo. I have heavily treated, widespread disease but was generally stable elsewhere. my lesion was not suitable for ablation. After consult w liver specialist, I was approved for y-90. Two months later, PET showed zero metabolic activity in liver. I only had mild fatigue for a few days. Proved to be a great alternative for me.
