There are also some folk who add a little peeking face to the cat butt pattern
or do curly or hook tails as well!

Thanks so much! My mom will love these. She and her crochet friends call themselves the Happy Hookers 😄

Thanks Feline. I'm going to give it a try. Maybe give them to fellow volunteers at Xmas.

How true!!

That's exactly what Snickers does! I actually have to take the can out of the fridge and pretend I'm giving her more food!

The shelter had a cage with Mom and 4 kittens last night. After I left, another volunteer noticed that Mom was an unaltered male. Definitely not nursing the kittens. She gave them gruel and said they were famished. The male was very tolerant of them, letting them climb all over him.

Hope the kitties are alright, Wren. Thank you for volunteering, what a kind heart you have. Our cats (and dogs) love us, no matter if we have hair or not.

Here are my two cats.
The grey Tabby kitten is Grace, the newest member of the family. The black cat next to her is Princess. We just adopted Grace yesterday. The black cat in my avatar was my sweet boy Charcoal who I lost in 2014 to kidney failure. I got Princess as a kitten about a week after we lost Charcoal. The other “child" in our family is their dog “brother" Jackson.

I have two cats, a tabby and a Siamese, both 17 and on their last legs. But they are still sweethearts.

Princess is 4 and Grace is only 8-9 weeks old.

Hi Corky long life and happiness to both your cats!
M0mmy - congratulations on the new family member, How is Princess taking the transition?

Princess is hissing a little less but still growling. They had a bit of a chasing each other this morning that makes me think that Princess might be mellowing out. Had Grace in her crate in my bedroom last night. Princess hissed and growled a little and then decided to fall asleep with Mommy and Daddy. Hubby got up in the middle of the night and Princess was sleeping on my dresser. We put Grace in between us about an hour before we got up for the day and Princess jumped back up on the bed from the dresser and laid down on my hip facing the door.

Just posted from the shelter: 74 cats adopted in the last 4 weeks! Makes going in seem worthwhile.

Yes it is. Giving a cat or dog a furever home is so worth it.

mommyof2, they are both adorable! Wren, that's great news! Corky, wow 17 years old that's amazing.

Thanks, 17 isn't too shabby. They are both on thyroid meds plus the Siamese needs a daily laxative. She was so constipated two months ago that I had to take her to an emergency clinic. She had an x-ray, a dose of laxative, and two enemas. The poor thing was so backed up. $500.
Our first cat lived to 20, our second was young but was killed by a hit and run driver. Our third died of a badly abscessed tooth at 15. Cats are so good at hiding their pain. And now my husband wants these two to be our last. I can't imagine life without a cat.
Wasn't the story on the cat who discovered the woman's breast cancer fascinating? Cats don't get enough credit.

Thanks Deb

corky, my 2nd cat was a shelter kitty that only lived to be 5. She kept developing kidney stones. She made it through one surgery but still kept developing them. At least $5,000 vet bill by the time she passed. She would walk by and my husband would say "there goes my used car" lol she was such a sweetie and so tiny. Although her life was short it was good for the most part. We gave her a good life. I dont think I would ever be happy without a cat in our home either. Most of us probably arent suprised about that cat alerting her owner to her breast cancer.

Darn it Wren! I spent my dreams last night tracking down those kittens! I found the mom but someone had let the kittens out! ( I volunteered at a shelter for 5 or 6 Years, swear I have ptsd! ) It has been probably 5 years and I frequently have dreams of fostering still. Or looking for lost cats. I guess I kinda miss it.
