My kitties love those little super balls. Remember the super bouncy ones you used to get out of a gumball machine? I have a few of those that i bounce down the basement steps. They go nuts. But Wren, just the visual on the ping pong balls in the bath tub haha

I was looking at a book at the shelter while I waited for the vet. It said the reason a cat goes to the one person in the room who doesn't like cats because that person is not staring at it or making noise. We're so much bigger and louder that we're really intimidating, so the quiet person looking the other way seems safer.

Just got home from taking Grace to get her sutures out. She was very well behaved and they said the incision healed well. As soon as we opened the door of her crate when we got home, she rocketed right out and ran around and then crashed out for a nap.

Loved looking at all these posts and pictures, I love cats. I have had them my whole life but now my son is highly allergic so I cant have any!

Cg that is so sad about your son. My DS also has allergies. However for him they have improved with age (he is now 22) to a stage where he can get by fine as long as he doesn't bury his face in one or get scratched by or licked (in which case it is head straight for the antihistamines). We have also found that bringing a kitten into the house was a lot easier than a cat. When Arthur came to us at 9 months DS went through 2 weeks of symptoms (streaming like a severe cold) after which his system settled down, whereas with Elliott, who came at 12 weeks, and Alannah, who came at 5 months, he did not go through that.

Feline, That's really interesting. I wonder why. Perhaps there wasn't as much saliva built up on their fur? Or perhaps it changes with age and puberty? If you start as a kitten, you can get it used to baths. Then bathing it once a week or so would keep the allergens down.

I discovered after years of chronic sinusitis that I had allergies, one of which was cats. At that point we had two cats for about four years, only time in my life I was exposed to cats. I went through allergy shots instead of re-homing them since I needed the shots for all three ofmy outdoor allergies.

When I was in the hospital recently for a bout of pneumonia, I had a very kind nurse who loves cats. She has four of them, strictly indoor cats since there are coyotes and bald eagles around here.
The hospital is in a residential area. Someone's cat has made himself a frequent visitor in the hospital. His name is Milo and he is a big orange tabby. He's often seen in the foyer where the switchboard operators work. He visits the Emergency Department and even was caught trying to hitch a ride in an ambulance. The crew lent Milo one of their hats and posted his photo on Facebook. Unfortunately I didn't see Milo but I'm sure if I had he would have cheered me up.

I knew a cat who was sooooo sociable like Milo. Also an orange male. I lived across the street from a school at that time and there was a 2nd unit on the same property where I was, into which an older lady moved with her adopted 2 kittiies, one of which was this guy. Every morning he would go over to the school and greet the kids. He'd be lazing on the sidewalk right next to where the cars dropped the kids off. Soon he was spending the day there. On the weekends, he would follow people who were walking on the street. He'd follow them for miles, into town, etc. Just LOVED people. Eventually, the kids built him a house on campus. One year the art teacher had everyone draw him and they made a book about him. He was such a fabulous cat -- his spirit was too large for one person or even one family.
