Thank you all! This has been so hard! Izzy is still with us. The Hospice Vet said we would know when to make the call. Somethings for us to watch for are not eating, hiding and panting or labored breathing. He is hiding in a box downstairs and has the labored breathing. He did eat sometime after 3 this morning. When Izzy got off our bed last night my DH got up and followed him. He went downstairs. DH fixed a bowl of food to put down there and he ate . He is calling the Hospice Vet today. At this point I'm just numb....to many losses over the past few years.😥💔

Sending you a hug, vargadoll. We can only apply the golden rule and be brave when this time comes. So painful. Wishing you strength.

Vargadoll . With each of mine that ever had to be euthanised there definitely was a point where things had got so difficult for them that they turned to me and "asked" for help, (usually miaowed in a cying out kind of way). With our beloved animal companions we do not have all the options we have in human medicine like being on a morphine drip and hospice 24 hour care etc. You absolutely know you are acting always for your cat and what you belive will most help, not out of selfish motives. I like to hope that our beloved animals come to understand this too. Blessings on you and DH at this terribly sad and difficult time.

This is Wally, he's 12 years old and owns the house even more than the other two kitties.

varga, thinking of you.
Spookiesmom, so funny.
Wally is a cutie
Feelingfeline you are so right. A few years ago my very tiny 5 year old kitty battled kidney stones her whole life. She was a lap cat and always faced away from me. That day she crawled up all the way to my chest and would not break eye contact with me. I think she was thanking me for a good life and telling me it was time. It's such a heartbreaking time.

for the first time in over 25 years we are without a pet. I still look for the boys! We got them 2 weeks apart and they left us 2 weeks apart. Izzy was starting to struggle and we call the Hospice Vet and she came to the house. She said that he needed a little help to pass. It was the most peaceful passing and the vet was so precious. She sat and listened to all our cat stories and wanted to know all about Izzy and Bernie. Izzy was in the hall and she got down on the floor with him and talked to him. She gave him some sedation so we could move him to the living room to his bed. DH carried him there. Before the Hospice Vet got the IV started for the euthanasia Izzy passed on my DH arms. Izzy fought hard but it was time. We had not left him alone in over a week. Life has changed but we will be blessed forever with beautiful memories of our boys. 💔

varga, I'm so so sorry. I'm glad his passing was peaceful. Coming home to a house without a pet is so heartbreaking. Allow yourself to grieve and reflect on all of the good memories. Thinking of you

Varga, Crying with you. Sounds like Izzy felt safe in DH's arms and could let go. May the good memories comfort you. Hugs.

Oh Varga, I am so sorry to hear this news. What a wonderful vet to have during such a stressful time. (((HUGS))).

Varga - so sorry to hear this. Izzy left knowing how loved he was. And Santabarbarian is absolutely right, you will see your boys in the corners of your eyes. Sending you hugs.

Varga, I am heartbroken to hear that Izzy is gone too. He and Bernie are back together and enjoying the company of other furbabies who have gone over the Rainbow Bridge.

This is the day we brought Bernie home 14 years ago. We call it their baby picture.

Varga. Sincere heart felt condolences. What a blessing that Izzy was able to drift home lying in DH's arms and under sedation only.

Was looking at Grace’s records from her adoption and it turns out that she is a Brown Tabby, not Grey as it was posted on the adoption site for where we got her from. Doesn’t matter to me much what color she is, she is still loved and spoiled.
She went on her first big trip last month with us. She got to meet some of myfamily
