    Vargadoll,

How nice of you to help out. I hope it helps you to be around kitties too...

Grace has made her mommy very very happy today. She is now 10 months and has joined her big sister on eating adult cat food. Last night was for her to get the mix of adult and kitten food. I started her on the mix last weekas soon as I saw she was running low on the kitten food and as I did with Charcoal and Princess.

My sympathies to those who've lost cats recently. I've had to realize mine are about to turn 11.

The two cats that own me have been begging to come out onto the front porch, despite the sudden hot weather. (Michigan missed spring this year.) No photographs, alas, but they puddle very decoratively, poor dears. Life's hard when you only sweat out your toe beans.

I mentioned we had to let our old girl go two weeks ago. The other two kitties, who are litter mates and are 12 years old, have been pretty needy since then--lots of crying, needing additional cuddle time, petting, that sort of stuff. All to be expected and entirely normal. But my ginger cat, Wally, tends to head butt when he wants affection and last night he head butted me right on the left breast . . . yes, the one with a still healing lumpectomy and just done with rads. I shrieked like a baby and scared the snot out of him.

Poor kitty and poor left breast :(

Here's a picture of him, he's a lovely cat and super smart. Just wish he wouldn't head butt.

My kitty Simone head butts my face and I love it. It's her peak happiness & love signal.

Ouch! He picked a bad spot all right. Hope he wasn't too scared. Letting out a squeal of pain is how kittens learn they've gone too far. Maybe he'll leave that one alone in the future.

edj3- our Izzy that just passed looks like your cat and he like to butt heads to! Ouch that you leftie took a butt! When I came home from the hospital Izzy kept trying to get the hose to my drain! I was so scared he would yank it out trying to play!

Yow-ee. Mine butt heads with my head, especially Alannah. (Elliott's head butts are reserved for special occasions, like when he is quite sleepy and can't resist himself) love them. Not so mad about the occasional butt butts (their butt in my face) 😉

What made it worse, and I forgot to mention, was he did this in the middle of the night so I was sound asleep. Normally I could have blocked him but the first thing I knew was BAM to the boob.

Most of us on here have lost beloved feline family members at some stage. I had in my mind a picture that I recently got the opportunity to paint in pottery glazes on a large plate I call it Cats in Paradise.

Feline, love the plate you painted! The meme is spot on.

DD was woken up a week ago at 5:30 to a kitten meowing outside her door. She had seen reports on her neighborhood listserv of a kitten sighting and people not being able to get him. Poor guy was soooo hungry. She thought about keeping him but didn’t think it was fair to her older cat who was found by a coworker under his back porch but. She took him to our Humane Society. Got a call a couple of days laterthat he was well and adjusting.

This is Eddie (litter mate to Wally). Eddie is 12 years old and BIG. Yes, he's chubby (we're working on it now that Chloe's gone--she was so scrawny we couldn't restrict the food), but he's also just plain big. Long tail, long spine, long legs--a mega chonk to be sure.

Miracles happen. Our shelter love, Cloud, found a forever home. Cloud is a medium hair lilac point Siamese mix, 17.5 years old, and diabetic. Talk about dedicated adopters. Cloud will reward them with endless purrs and loves being brushed. He was a volunteer favorite and we'll miss him, but overjoyed that he found a new home.

So happy to hear that Cloud found a forever home. I've been a little low as one of the cats that I take care of, Lucy, died on Sunday. I kind of dread going to the house to take care of the other 2 cats. It will seem empty. I'm not one of those catsitters who just goes over, opens a can of cat food, scoops the litter and then talk on their phone the entire time. I always sit with my cats and I'm present with them. If they are too scared, which doesn't happen too often, I just sit in the house and let them come out when they are comfortable. I never go looking for them...I'm just there when they do feel safe to come out.
