I thought I would add to this thread. I am also a cat lover. Miss Kitty lived 19 years. She was not the nicest cat but loved me and my husband. Sadly she passed on Christmas day 2019. We adopted a kitten in March 2020 not knowing she has significant kidney disease. Her name is Kiss Daisy. Her issues are probably congenital but she is the sweetest, most loving cat I have ever seen. The vet is supersized how long she has lived with her renal failure. She was with me in my second cancer journey and I feel she knew what was going on as she cuddled with me all the time. We don't know how long she will be with us but she is a constant comfort to me as I feel I am a constant comfort to her. Cats forever!!!!

Kiss Daisy sounds like she found a great home, to receive love and to give comfort. I second your 'cats forever'

Quinnie so sorry you lost your Miss Kitty but so very happy Kiss Daisy found you. I love kitties too, but when you get that one that truly connects with you - well, that is magic. Heart

Good morning, cat lovers. I took Midnight Louie in for a nail trim. He was a good boy with some meowing on the way.

Miss Daisy needs a nail trim. I am taking her Friday. She is always good there because she is paralyzed with fear. Poor thing.

I think we are going to need to have our vet put those soft claws over our girls' claws. They are shredders, both of them :(

Thats great Petite! Yeah all my kittens need trims as well. I should just call the mobile vet to have a home visit. But then all would disappear Loopy

I trim my cats' nails. They grow so fast! And unfortunately, the soft-claws last about a minute on each of them (3 almost-2 year olds)

My boys let me trim their nails. Stevie sort of tolerates it but shreds everything. Annie will not let us touch her nails and she cries and cries, gets Eddie all upset. So Friday the girls are off to the vets to get those soft paw things put on their murder mittens.

I did applications for shelter cats today. At 11:30 they posted a kitten. By 12:30 he had 5 applications. He had 16 applicants before we took out the instructions for how to apply. I'm tired.

wren, that is great. The little kitten will soon have a forever home.

Miss Daisy gained 2 ounces!!!!! She weighs a whopping 4 pounds 6 ounces. Her kidney function is unchanged but she is such a sweet loving cat who does not seem bothered with having kidney disease. We will cherish her as long as we can.

quinnie, Our cat, Marmelade, had kidney disease also. His vet wanted him to drink more water so we made him catnip tea and used that to flavor his water. He was pretty far along when diagnosed and we were able to have him for another year using sub Q fluids to help his kidneys. I hope Miss Daisy has a slow progression and you have her for quite a while longer. It sounds like she's a fairly early stage.

Hefty cat started his very low carb diet yesterday, I am feeding his self esteem by saying he's looking smaller already. Which is crazy because of course he can't be smaller yet.... but mostly because he can't understand what I'm saying 😂

Midnight Louie had a near miss, yesterday, A coral snake got into the screen porch and Louie, the great hunter was on it. I grabbed Louie and husband got the snake out. (red touch yellow, kills a fellow). The warm days must have brought it out of hiding. It was moving slowly and not aggressive. I blocked up the space under the screen door that maybe how the critters are getting in.

I have a chewer in Stevie. She's destroyed a lot of stuff with her chewing and she and Annie both have shredded the snot out of stuff.

We had a kitten named Ringo who sucked on our daughter's nightgown (only there, thank goodness). He loved the car and he was on top when we started driving to work. When we stopped for the light he jumped down and ran off. Months later, my husband came home with a huge black cat he thought was Ringo. Sure enough, he sucked on our daughter's nightgown. The next day my husband took him back where he found him. He was in great shape and clearly someone's beloved pet.

Grace is finally starting to tolerate Nugget. The last week she has been sort of playing with him. She gets down on the floor and either charges at him or waits for him to come over and kind of leaps at him.
