For him to get up there, he has to jump on 2 other furniture pieces. Then one to get down.

Scary time last night. Miss Felix went into thyroid storm. She survived. We rushed her to the urgent pet care center, but by the time we were seen, she was coming out of it. I thought she was going over the rainbow. She has an appointment for labs at the regular vet.

Petite, How terrifying! I don't know what a thyroid storm is, but it sure sounds dangerous. I'm happy she pulled through. Sending purring to bring good health

I will second what Wrenn says have never heard of a thyroid storm. It does sound very stressful though. So glad to hear she pulled through. She is one tough kitty!

A thyroid storm is when thyroid levels are at a very dangerous high. For Miss Felix it came on very rapidly and I did not realize what it was. She was panting rapidly and her little heart was beating too fast to even count. It was about an hour before her medication was due. I was afraid and I think she was too. She slept in my arms all the way to the urgent care. She stayed snuggled up in her blanket on my lap for about an hour. Then she started coming around and realized she was some place that smelled like vet. Then she went into grumpy cat mode. She has been ok since. We are going to get labs in a couple of hours. I will give her anxiety meds to keep her happy cat and not grumpy cat.

Petite, Is her medication to control high thyroid or to up her thyroid?

    Wren, she has high thyroid.

The labs came in and everything was normal, but borderline on potassium. She will try some potassium for 2 weeks and have a follow up visit on the 27th.

Our cat had high thyroid and was so hard to medicate that we sprung for the nuclear treatment. He was about 10, so years of medicating was not something we looked forward to.

spookiesmom, Midnight Louie loves to knock stuff off. Miss Felix was never into that. She has always been "the good cat". Maybe she doesn't identify as a cat. LOL

Miss Felix had another panting spell. We went to her Vet, who did an EKG. Her heart rate was down from last time and she seems to be moving a little better than last visit. We did talk about end of life, as she says we have done all we can do and she is 25. I was teary eyed and tear up as I am typing.

Very Bad Cat (long story) had to go to vet for his annual check up. Not exactly happy with him right now, but that's not the reason for this post. Vet said he was starting gingivitis and needed to be watched. Didn't elaborate on what to do about it. So cat moms, what do I do?

He gets a can of Fancy Feast per day, Science Diet indoorkibble always available, very few Temptations Treats. He was 10#8 oz, so not fat.

Is Very Bad Cat up for having his teeth brushed? If he is then it is a feline dental health option. There are feline (liver flavoured) toothpastes ....

I do realise it's a rare cat that will be up for it ....Bawling

Spookiesmom, You can get treats that are good for teeth. Louie had to get his teeth cleaned and the vet did give me special cat tooth paste. I have not attempted it. Poor little Felix hardly has any teeth left. They got pulled a while back.

I doubt he’d let me brush his teeth. Not big on being held.

Since this summer, Grace and Princess are sleeping with us more for some reason. Princess prefers to either sleep on my hip or by my feet. Grace on the other hand likes to share my pillow or snuggle under the covers with me.
