Eesh. Ms. Girl Cat is, in theory, on diet food, but Mr. Boy Cat has a decidedly cavalier attitude toward food. Oh, well. The whole point was to get her to lose weight, and I suspect that chasing Mr. Boy Cat when he looks at her funny will help with that.

I thought Ms Girl cat looked a little plump - have a real mushy thing for big cats! Heart

Well dear MommaCat you manage to get Der Rosenkavalier in on one thread and a cat with a cavalier attitude in on another, is this a first?

I swear I didn't plan that conjunction. But I'll take that tiger-striped Marschallin as a putative avatar.

DH isn't sure that Tosca is the inspiration for the last 'opera cat' cartoon. Possibly La Boheme?

Good thought! Well I just had to find out so I have trawled the net and find that we are both wrong it is Don Carlos Act II ! They are by Susan Herbert (1945-2014). She did ballet cats as well.

    Here is Manon Lescaut

    and Carmen

I tracked down the Don Carlos image on website of Chris Beetles' art gallery in London. Chris Beetles specialities (among others) include cats and cartoons.

Many years ago when I was living in London I visited Chris Beetles. It was 1990 and I was meeting a friend there to attend an exhibition of art by the famous cat-painting artist Lesley Ann Ivory. Hadn't thought of it in years!

Hope you enjoyed the opera. Nerdy

(snorts of laughter) Trying to remember where I heard/read the "If your cats aren't sleeping on the radiators, you have the temperature up too high." (in winter). That doesn't apply quite so much with forced-air or baseboard heat, but the cats figure something equivalent out.

We have a drop leaf desk close to our heat vent. The bottom part is shelves for books. We had to remove them so our cat could huddle on the bottom shelf with the heat blowing right on her. If you want to find the warmest place in a house, look for the cat.

warmest place in the house.... she would hear the thermostat click on & she'd be off the bed & down in front of the fireplace. We had to find a tiny antique fender just to keep her back from the fire.

GG, that is an adorable shot of your cat. Are her paws crossed over her chest?

We had a cat that would put his tummy against the floorboards in the summer before the AC was turned on. When he warmed a spot up he would move on down the wall. That's when I knew to turn on the AC.

No, her paws are up around the fireplace fender, by her head. She was just a mass of multi coloured long hair, it was sometimes hard to tell which way was up!

Arthur in a rare "I am consenting to sleep on the same sofa as you are sitting" mood. This is so rare as to require photograph.

FF, glad Miss Victoria was able to make you a puddle, she was a great cat, so photogenic & she knew it. Arthur's pretty special as well. As I've said before, I love this thread even though I don't post "thank you's" as often as I should.

    Thank you, cheers, Dee

I got a call from a woman who found three kittens on her roof (totally bizarre). Two were about 3 weeks old and quite sick and one was a newborn. The newborn was cold and I had a two hour drive to get him to Kitten Inn, so I stuck him in my cleavage. I wear an Ah Bra, so he just snuggled in. Every once in a while, he'd move and I'd have a big lump on my boob (his head!). So I drop them all at KI and go to a field assignment. And something smells funny. I'm thinking maybe Turbo, our big territorial tabby, has peed on my shoe or something. Get home and take off my clothes the the inside of my bra is covered with kitten poo. So now i"m told that this is a right of passage - you're truly a crazy cat lady when you've had kitten poo on your boobs. :) Here's the little guy..he's now been taken in by a mom with similar sized babies and is doing well!

This little orphan came in yesterday and has settled in with his new family quite well. Doesn't quite match the rest, but no one seems to mind. :)

Awwww, I love you and the Kitten Inn for all the great work you do. Bring on the kitten overload. Can't get enough of them. How are the two sick kittens doing? That is bizarre on the roof and the age difference.

Kathindc - the sick ones are hanging in there. They are in foster care and have had some food. One doesn't like the syringe or the bottle, so it's been a battle to get it to eat, but it finally did. So fingers crossed that they'll make it.

And Queenmomcat - yes, I am a crazy cat lady!
