Hey Minnesota thanks for the encouragement third round behind me now. Three days in bed feel so lethargic but going to get moving today...its going to get harder each round but we will pull together and get this done. Here's to better days ahead for all of us.

This was me before cancer. I'm going to get this woman back. I just have to keep reminding myself that chemo-hag isn't permanent!

The steroids more than anything are ruining me. My face is bloated fat, my skin color and texture are pasty and sallow, and I just look like I've aged 10 years. I can see the struggle ahead to get my health back. I'm so ready for chemo to end so I can get started!

Ladies is anyone experiencing hotflashes? I had some after my first two treatments but now I am not having them?

Yes I get hot flashes. If you're skipping them this round find your happy dance!

Roid rage in the pick up line at school - I can't believe I did this today! I have about an 9 mile drive to get DS from school. At one point two lanes merge into one and there was a bitch in a spotless white explorer with a perfect blonde blowout behind me. She tried to get ahead of my on the one lane but I wouldn't let her. She was on her phone and not being nice. Then she tailgated me when the person in front of me slowed down - not my problem. Then she tried to get ahead of me again to turn, not happening! She beeped at me when I took 2 seconds to get going and I flipped her off. I'm usually so zen about driving, she just really pissed me off!!! Don't mess with me on Chemo!!!!

Dex gets me really hyped too. I was so surprised I slept at all after chemo on Wednesday. Tuesday night was a lost cause, I hope it treats you better tonight!

Mom2boo - I so get the driver rage thing with people that are so thoughtless and rude! Selfish people
I haven't been on in a few weeks as life has just been too busy. I've missed chatting with everyone so did spend time trying to catch up on how everyone is doing.
sounds like many of us are moving on to the Taxol, Perjecta, herceptin infusions after the super-chemo stuff. I too am having a much harder time after round 4 of AC. The Neulasta SEs and mouth sores are worse but thank goodness I know they will pass!
I mentioned in an earlier post a great cookbook (if you feel like cooking at all!) called Cancer Prevention Kitchen. I made the mineral broth then a bean soup full of veggies. I have enough for 6-8 meals so it was worth the effort. It was delicious and soothing. I kept thinking how healthy it was for me too.
I too am a little worried about the neuropathy for taxol and perjeta. My MO did say she would cut the treatments short if it became a problem. i am eager to see how we all do with this one and certainly hope for the best!
sleep well my friends

Aggie Megs - my advice for low bp is to hydrate, and include some sports drinks in the mix.
Aga- I am behind in this group because my 1st chemo was sept 28, so barely in the sept group. Then my second was delayed a week, so October 19, my third is scheduled for November 2. So I hope my bloodwork is a go that day.
Minnesota - I have done low carb dieting before, too. Most successful diet I've ever done, but hard to stick to.

Greetings to all! Have been following but unable to post till now (tech issues). Just completed 4th AC and shared the SEs expressed by others. Am still recovering as many of you are. Ugh. Am facing Taxol next week. Want to share some info I got from nutritionist which I plan to pursue: Vitamin B6, glutamine powder and coriolis mushroom. She ok-ed each of these as having benefit to immune system ánd or to help prevent neuropathy. I have great fear of neuropathy. I have MO appointment on Thurs to discuss changing from 4 DD plan to 12 week plan if it will minimize the neur. I need a serious pep talk from my MO. Wanting to quit now. Sigh. The bravery I hear from your entrirs helps and inspires me. Peace and healing to all.0

While I'm not cutting out bacon for good even after this is over, there is something to be said about too much processed foods, which so many folks do eat a lot of including myself before this shit.
I think what's missing in that news today is if you are susceptible already to get cancer, if you have the risk factors like some do with genetics and possibly from having other diseases or have high recurrence chance with cancer right now, then the 18% increase they state for colon cancer would be huge in this case. But if there are no known risk factors for you and you are otherwise healthy and not over weight then you are right with saying this is all hype. It depends on the individual and shouldn't be put out there that it goes for everybody. Weight plays a major factor in not only chances for cancer but chances for all other diseases. Inflammation is not your friend and excess salt, preservatives and other chemicals found in these processed foods creates inflammation.

Hi Annie Im missing feeling attractive too this is such a terrible thing for anyone to go through. You're a gorgeous girl you'll get your sexy back.

Shelly - Thanks for sharing your experiences and worries, fellow Minnesotan. My fourth (last planned) AC is next Tuesday. I, too, am very worried about neuropathy. I'll be interested to hear what details my MO provides about my Taxol plan next Tuesday. (She is currently planning the lower-dose 12 week plan for me, which I find somewhat comforting.)
I understand wanting to quit. Third A/C was my worst by far and I'm only now (week later) starting to come out of the steroid buzz, horrid mouth sores, constipation, severe fatigue and discouragement. Hang in there. To quote another brave, phenomenal woman posting here: Eyes on the finish line!

I hear you southern charm. I feel the same way. Everything seems to cause cancer. I remember in the 80s the biggest hype all of the sudden was coke causes cancer. Instead of breaking down the crap that is in sodas that was basically the headline. Of course back then it wasn't like now where they have doctors and commentaries on issues for them to break it down that it's sugar and the chemicals in there that's the fuel. Like I said, I'm not banning bacon. After my echo a couple weeks ago that's the first thing I ate, bacon!

Good luck today Southern!
I'm on the same train this week. Start my steroids tomorrow.

"18% increase" means eating processed meat every day = lifetime colorectal cancer risk goes from 4.5% to 5.3%. Compare that to risk from smoking, which increases your cancer risk 2,000%. Enjoy that bacon, artista!!
Southern - Thinking of you today: Whip Round 3's ass!
In other news, I just made my morning oatmeal with cumin instead of cinnamon.

Thank you, Neulasta, for the squirmy, achy night. I might forgive you if I don't catch the fever/vomiting/ sore throat plague circulating around my kid's high school right now.
I haven't read WHO's announcement, but I'm a bit anemic from chemo and craving red meat. I will eat all the red meat I want to. Chicken and fish aren't cutting it right now. Not even close
Minnesota: cumin instead of cinnamon? Ouch!

You're funny Minnesota, and yes I will. I'll eat whatever sounds good when chemo starts and I hope bacon does because that is one of my ultimate favs!!
Best wishes to you all today for a better day. Iron infusion #2 coming up here in an hour. After is rush off to mass for funeral and then burial service. It's not hard enough losing a beautiful spirit that was my bff's sister but to know cancer got her so soon and so young at 62..

I just asked my husband to pick up some BACON on his way home from work. I cannot remember when I've had it last, but I have been craving bacon ever since those first reports a couple days ago about even more foods causing cancer I already have cancer, the path is dismal, if ONE eating of bacon shortens my life a few days from what I've got left, so be it. I'm going to enjoy bacon tonight

I am living on the edge, I had a bacon and tomato sandwich yesterday and I barbecued a steak yesterday. It wasn't well done either. It even had pepper on it. Made a salad that had soft goat cheese in the dressing as well. Guess what? I'm still alive....
If I can't at least enjoy food, what are we supposed to enjoy? i just can't wait another week for my taste buds to return so I can wall enjoy eating again. Can't wait for my energy to return so I can go back to the gym. Get my old self back. Get back to my old life.
Good luck to all with your infusions, steroid rages, iron infusions, memorial services, terrible SE's. You guys are getting thru it. Keep trudging along....it feels as though many of you are hitting the wall. I am here to tell you that the wall comes down. Behind that wall there is hope.
Hugs and warm healing thoughts being sent to all of you today!
