Limp a little, walk slow, unfocus your eyes when people talk to you. Then they figure out youre sick and just take over everything and let you sit and rest. Works EVERY time. And no I do not feel guilty in the least! Jimmy just shakes his head at me, but he never let's on.

Yup deported. I can't take credit for it. I saw someone posted about it on the March orApril boards. It made me chuckle. So deported it is. My bs surgical coordinator called me this morning to schedule. She wanted to do it the Monday 12/14 after my last chemo which is 12/9 I told her my mo said at least 2 weeks. So we are gonna shoot for 12/21 tentatively if mo ok's it. If not the surgical coordinator isn't sure if bs is taking off week starting xmas or after xmas.

    Happy Thursday!
Cold has cleared. 1st paclitaxol infusion today assuming my hospital stay didn't throw things out of whack. The 10th was my birthday. The 11th was Veterans day. I went to Red Robin with my family. They gave me a free veteran's burger and when they swiped my rewards card, they took off my husband's burger (birthday reward). It was a good day :)
Not sure if having beef was the best idea.

Merry pooping to all, and to all a good fight!

Edwsmom I also have my next chemo the day before thanksgiving. At least we will be hyped up on steroids and possibly can eat?

I feel like I have been dating L-Glutamine for the last 6 months.

LadyinPurple? Does your insurance cover Juven? My doctor gave me a prescription and I fought hard to get it covered but was unable to. My neighbor who has another condition( complicated diabetes kidney failure) was able to get hers covered by her insurance. I can use mine for my "Family Medical Account" reimbursement but that is it. I save the Juven for Chemo weeks when I am just too gaggy to get the other stuff down and Juven is easy to take.

The rest of the time I try to take L-Glutamine in a drink of some sort.

This is the L-glutamine I ordered it is a month supply for 33 dollars at 30 grams a day. The only thing is it really needs to be mixed in a protein drink. It would be fine in Ensure etc. My husband is really concerned that I am not taking it. Dairy doesn't agree with me at all so I have struggled with how to take it. tried lemonade like the juven and tang but my chemo nose still couldn't get it down. I was very faithful on my protein and nutrition until round 3 TCH. I have just sort of fallen off the wagon.

    L-Glutamine Amazon

Probably for Dairy people you could mix this in anything and it would taste fine.

I also ordered a Isololized strawberry protein. It has a mixed protein but also contains almost 7 grams of L-Arginine ( 688mg) and Glutamine ( 4.422grams) so if I mix my powder in that it stretches it farther. It still comes out to another $80 bucks if I take two serving a day but I can only do one because of the dairy. I am supposed to do this because of my wound they want me to take 100 grams of Protein a day until after my surgery because of wound healing. I love dairy but it does not love me. I have tried every nondairy protein powder available. We have spent at least $1000 on Juven and protein to get me back in Chemo because ot that $@#%#&^%# WOUND I developed.

Anyway here is the best protein drink I found for the money. I am thinking you guys would have even more options. This is dairy based and I take it when I can.

Iso-100 hydrolyzed whey protein isolate strawberry-25 grams of protein per serving 77 servings in the large giant container. I got tired of buying the smaller containers locally.

Also I know cottage cheese is high in glutamine as is Whey. Here is a bit more information about it. So maybe those of you can increase your Dairy intake

Whey Protein per 26 grams there is around 3 grams of glutamic acid so if you look at Whey protein and find a good quality kind made in the USA that might help as well.

    Livestrong

    Dairy Products

Many dairy products are rich in glutamine. Whey protein, a byproduct of cheese production that's used as a nutritional supplement, is a top source of glutamine. While milk and yogurt are good sources of the amino acid, cheese is generally a better source. Cottage cheese and ricotta are particularly glutamine-rich, but you'll also get substantial amounts from Parmesan cheese, mozzarella and cheddar. Like other animal sources, milk, yogurt and cheese that are lower in fat typically supply slightly more protein and glutamine per ounce than high-fat dairy products do.

One cup of low fat cottage cheese provides your body with more than 6 grams of glutamic acid,

    Glutamine and glutamic acid

The amino acids glutamine and glutamic acid are closely related in a chemical sense. The human body is able to produce L-glutamine itself, from L-glutamic acid through the glutamate ammonium ligase. Considering the numerous metabolic processes glutamine is a part of, it is not surprising that it is the amino acid with the highest concentration in blood plasma, musculature and cerebral and spinal fluid. At 60%, it represents the largest amount of free amino acids in the body.

The demand for glutamine increases with physical and mental stress. Production of this important amino acid, which takes place in the body, often slows down with age and does not generate sufficient amounts. External supplementation is recommended in such cases.

Had TCHP #4 yesterday. MO ordered extra potassium after my ER visit and next labs showed it still being low. That added an extra hour to my infusion and an extra lb to my weight today. I'm trying to flush out all the fluid they pumped into me. I'm buzzing on steroids today and hope that goes away soon. I hate feeling wired. Cleaning for a reason comes today - yeah! Except my house looks like a tornado hit since I never really recovered by round #3 before I got the sinus infection. Oh well, at least they can clean the bathrooms and the kitchen and just move around the rest.

DD did not so well coming with me yesterday. She freaked out when we got into the exam room and wanted to go home. She made it through meeting the Dr. and the beginning of the infusion and then DH took both kids to a friends house for the rest of the day. She was still freaked when I saw her at 6. She has 3 tests today that she had a hard time focusing the rest of the day to study for. I emailed those teachers and one said she could take the test on Monday instead. I'm glad they are being very understanding. I hope the other 2 go well. I would hate for this to affect her GPA so much that her college choices are limited when she is a senior. She has always been a straight A student and she's pulling a couple of B's and I know she hates that. My Mom thinks she is till angry at me for getting cancer and messing with her transition to High school.

Praying for you Grey! I'm so sorry you had to be humiliated to prove that you were not drunk. I agree with carrying your port card if you have one ( I got one as well) or some kind of papers that indicate you are a cancer patient. That might help if the situation arises again, which I hope it doesn't!!!

    Hello Beautiful Ladies!!!

I started Taxol infusion this week. SE are similar to AC a little nausea, bone soreness from Neulasta and be aware of the big C, take prune juice or a laxative to help with it.

I have 3 more treatments of Taxol and should be done with chemo by the week of xmas!

I learned that after surgery I have 30 treatments of Radiation waiting for me :(

I wish you all a great healthy week and hang in there , keep the faith and take great care of yourselves.

    Hugs xoxo

LOVE Fage! That's the only brand I'll eat. Cherry and peach are my favs. I use the low fat plain instead of sour cream or in place of mayo in many recipes. Delish!

Thanks for the info exercise. The GNC I thought was still near is now gone so I'll order my B 6, B12 and L-G from Amazon. Love the free shipping to my door. :)

So I just ordered the L-G exercise linked not for $41 but the $32 supplier, and this liquid B-12 which sounds great in how it works and tastes.

I'll give it a go for awhile and write a review once I've done it for awhile. My friend got me wheat grass powder and her cancer pt friends swear by it for energy and for immune system help. I couldn't get past the taste no matter what I used it in.

And what a day I had! Woke up this morning at 6am with a temp of 39C (I think thats about 102F for you yanks). I'd had enough of this merry go round so off to ER I go. After being poked and prodded and drained of half my blood, there is no sign of neutropenia, UTI, and chest xray shows nothing unusual. Blood cultures won't be available until tomorrow but I know what sepsis looks like and I don't have it. So, I go home around noon, check my temp and its up again at 37.9F.....I remain a medical mystery.

Good to hear people are tasting , pooing and pushing their way through what I think is the tougher end of treatment.  Our poor bodies have been through so much.  LindyC so sorry about your friggin mystery temperature how frustrating and exhausting for you.

I had my first round of taxol yesterday not sure whats installed but I do lnow we are all getting closer to finishing this treatment and isn't that a great feeling.

Hugs to all you angels you have truly helped me get through some very dark hours

LindyC, could there be something environmental triggering your body to fight something? Maybe pets, changing your toothbrush, allergies...? What a mystery!

REALLY? Eating my amazing taco salad, casually run a hand over my face and BAM big chunk of eyebrow came out. Can't catch a brake! Well at least I can poop again. Eyebrowless, bald, runny nose pooping mess. Cancer is awesome! *Eye roll*

Lindy so funny we get excited about that stuff. I think it because Annie summoned the poop fairy. She is our good luck charm.

Annie that looks yummy. I gotta try that. I made quesadillas mon nite and they were yummy. But now I want taco salad. I'm having my post chemo poop helping meal of salad tonite. That plus senacot does the trick for getting rid of chemo crap...literally. Plus I have made a better effort to drink lotsa water today to ward off another UTI.

The only thing different is that I had my first round of taxol and then nuelasta on day 3. It's been downhill ever since. I'm on day 8 from infusion. Anyone ever hear of this type of reaction to taxol? My hips and lower back are killing me.

LindyC - So sorry about your SEs and temperature - yuck. Will your MO (or an on-call MO) be available for a consult tomorrow? Time to escalate. (Oh, and congrats on the poop. : )

Lindy you may want to post on the weekly taxol board about this. I joined that board and found some people who are DD also post there. It's worth a try.

I did start to feel better after a week, but no fever.

Minnesota..spoke with MO nurse this afternoon and we plan to talk tomorrow. I'm taking antibiotics and hopefully they will kick in.

Shopgal..will check out that board. Just seems weird that this all started with the first taxol round.
