TFoxy20 - For keeping anything dry during showering, try Press and Seal. It's in the Glad Wrap / Saran Wrap aisle.
Tear off a piece and press it in a circle around the area you want to keep dry. It will stick to your skin and works surprisingly well for keeping an area dry. (Doesn't hurt a bit when you remove it.)
Fellow Port patients: One of my nurses recommends it for covering EMLA cream pre-needle insertion. She says, unlike a bandage, the Press and Seal won't soak up any of the cream.

Grey - Congrats on the infusion!!!

Grey..lol..you showed them!! I have faith that you'll pull through this like a champ..as we all will.
I'm barely back to the land of the living. Geeze, this 3rd round hit me hard. Yesterday was a blur. I just tried to sleep the day away. Today is a better day. Thank goodness, as I have tickets to the Jays/Rangers baseball game in Toronto...hey Octogirl, congrats to the Cubs! Nice going! All I want is for KC to tank, don't like them. And may the best team advance. I'm grateful for these distractions.
My last AC is next Thursday, then the Taxol for 4. I'm seeing a glimmer of light at the end, just a wee bit, and I'm focusing on that. Let's keep moving towards that goal!

Teacherhikermom! What dates are you doing infusion? If you feel as crappy as me then you need a hug!
Amy I'm glad your being taken care of in the hospital. I often worry that sonething bad will happen at home, but the hospital might be a pain but it would feel more secure to me. Praying for your super fast recovery!
Last night while laying in bed scrolling FB on my phone, I sorta rolled over and dropped my damn phone on my port just as I was getting it to feel better! It's like the universe is making a joke out of me! After crying I just had to laugh. This shit is so over the top rediculous!
I put coconut oil in my coffee this morning. My gut feels better today. I just need my poop shoot to recover!

Had anyone had really sore toe nails mine have been sore today and they are throbbing tonight. Will they fall out....my ankles are also swollen I am so sexy right now.....I will finish my chemo with three rounds of Taxol...I think what side effects are installed for me. Annie I think I would prefer to suck balls than have to go through what you have been hang in there the end of this treatment cannot come soon enough. I also cry at the drop of a hat the chemicals really wreak havoc with hormones. Grey sounds like your doing great now that you are in treatment you know that the waiting is the worse. Love to you all xxx

Tessu! OMG SITTING ON SOMETHING SERIOUS!!! pun of the century award! Bahahahaha! That was awesome!
I called the surgeon about the Port and waiting for a callback. My butt feels better at the moment and I'm not bleeding so I'll be ok until I have to go again. It's like 9 month pregnant roids! I'll be ok. I just need to get my head in a better place and stop wallowing!

Grey, you should never hesitate to call them with questions: you are the patient (and woohoo to that) and it is your body. Although not everyone feels horribly sick, remember.
Please remember to drink LOTS and LOTs of water. If your eyes are bothering you, you should try artificial tears. You can buy them OTC at the grocery store. Lie down and close your eyes, put a drop or two in the inner corner of your eye near your nose, then open your eye, tears will go right to the right place that needs them.
Annie, I hope the doc's office gives you some relief! and Hugs to all having problems this week! It does suck!
Yes, I love the meme too, tease!

Woohoo for poop, Annie! My husband does coconut oil in his coffee, and if he does too much, he becomes a poop fountain! But glad it worked for you!

BWAHAHAHA! Glad I've got some sci fi fans in the mix. I've been snickering at this line of conversation all morning. My coworkers are starting to worry I've cracked up under the pressure.

Wish we could "like" all these pics, as done on FB.

Fixed that for you.0 -
Annie! I'm glad you've found something that helps!
I feel like I don't know what day it is...lol. It's all blurring together. I am at the office. I really just needed to get out of the house for a while. It's 6 days post my second chemo.
Looking forward to being around other people and pretending life is normal for a while. I wore my new wig today. Can't help but feel like everyone that looks at me can tell its fake. I'm annoyed with myself that my hair has become such an issue for me. I really didn't think it would be that big a deal.

Yesterday I felt so bad I just said screw it and threw on a beanie to go out in the world. 1 person stared at me and I stared right back hard. I have cancer. It's not like I'm in a tube top and hot pants smoking crack in platform shoes on the street corner.

Oh by the way...today when I was getting dressed, I caught a segment on the Today Show about Lolly's Locks - a charity that provides wigs to women with cancer. Definitely something I'll be checking out to support.
They also had a great segment called "Steals and Deals". Here's a link: http://hip2save.com/category/jills-steals-and-deal...
I bought two of the shawl wrap things - one for me and one for my Mom for Christmas. Can't beat the price. Check out the cool offers they have - good for holiday gifts.

Annie you made me laugh while walking the dog! My boss in Chicago was wearing white hair extensions (she was a Black MD), wearing a tube top under a dirty green, too small sweater. She was wearing white lace stockings and dirty white high heeled boots in the fall.
Amy- I'm glad they are taking good care of you in the hospital. I will get an infusion of fluid (I'm not drinking enough) after my wbc shot. I don't think I need it but got to go with MD plan.
Trying to download my pics from my phone. Any help? Boyfriend pissed me off by not wanting to kiss me because of port. He is so gone!

Good Morning All,
TFoxy - I have allergies to adhesive and told my doc as much but she insisted on a PICC. The worst thing ever but somehow I managed. I use this to keep dry in the shower and it allows me to put it on by myself. Also, I tape a round of paper towel just to be sure and capture moisture.

Cinque - I feel pain in my fingernails, and then I notice they turn black (starting from the nail bed). Seem to accumulate with each infusion. Pain goes away though.
Annie - So glad that you were able to summon the Poop fairy.

my BS called me back. My port insertion was aparently a little more involved. He said he had to cut down deeper to find a small vein because they couldn't get a needle around my colarbone. He also thinks that the nurse at the cardiologist who beat the shit out of my port site looking for the port entry probably popped some internal stitches. I'm to put heat on it and call back next week if it's not better. Armpit pain is normal since it's all the same muscles.
I'm not going back to that cardiologist office. Incompetence is unacceptable. I'd rather drive 2 hours then get beat up by morons.
