"Haus, I have pulled off my head covering as soon as I get back to my car or outside. I feel like I am going to be sick sometimes when I get so hot inside a store or building. I usually wear one outside that is warmer and switch it to a lighter one before going in anywhere. At home I can't wear anything on it!"

Me too glad you are doing okayish with the taxotore. I too feel lucky that at least half my chemo was so easy. Only one more to go!

I am now two weeks from my last infusion, feeling 95% normal, and hate thinking about going back to do it again!

ok, so the "testing" post posted...

In a nut shell, not a good day...steroid dosage cut in 1/2 at infusion #8 today. Why? Have no clue. Paying for it now. Calling MO tomorrow.

Piper and Reflect- in your pocket!

I have SE's from Taxol, but I didn't have AC. Bloody nose, break outs, exhaustion, tummy issues...I take the natural route to remedy SE's.

Trying to eat better, Seejuliago, veggies, tumeric, flax seed, etc. but I crave carbs!

Ok, that's it...in a nut shell...eating my carbs and going to bed! Bad day = carbs for me

thanks Lovestofly! 💕 I had my mashed potatoes, so found a little energy to post

Haus- what is your family history? Some of what your step-Mom doc is saying has validity...BUT...a BMX does NOT guarantee that it won't come back. It CAN come back...in between the implant/flap and your skin. However, a BMX significantly reduces risk. I believe to 5% for a local reoccurrence if I remember correctly.

Nola my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer ~34-35 yrs age. She died at age 38 in 1989. She also waited a long time to see her Dr when she noticed the lump in her breast thinking it was just a clogged milk duct. All of my Genetics panel came back negative. I don't think they have found our particular marker or mutation yet since both of us "young" dx seems too coincidental kwim?! I just turned 42 in December.

From reading up on a TNBC thread today the diff btw BMX and lump/rads is about 3% I think. I'm good with that and easier surgery recovery.

ok, this is pretty creepy, I can barely see the screen to type... Triple vision! Left eye doubles to the upper left

And right eye doubles to the upper right. Makes it very hard to read!

My infusion s went well... No other SEs tonight.

Sending blurry hugs out to all who had a crappy day.

Oh no Piper! Sure wish this would all settle down for you and allow you to move on to get past all this. Thinking of you!

Nola, I hope you are feeling better today! Had a very strange sleep last night, many dreams. Woke up starving and all I crave is carbs as well, mashed potatoes or rice! Ate a lot less yesterday to try to calm my stomach down. Only slight bone pain so far. My jaw and a little in my pelvis/legs. So far Clarton and Tylenol ES are keeping it at bay.

Myra, hope your vision corrects it self fast. Not an enjoyable way to see for any length of time!

I did check on Praline. She last logged in on the 7th and last posted at the end on May on the weekly taxol boards. She was getting tired. Please if anyone hears let us know how she is. I could only find that out from her profile.

Thoughts are with you all for a better day today

Jill, I am praying your last infusion will go easily! You have truly been an inspiration to me in getting through this myself! Enjoy your week of feeling almost back to yourslf and kick that last infusion in the butt

well, that cleared up overnight! Very weird sensation.

    Piper..in your pocket, Girl!

Back to the discussion on food....Since my diagnoses, I've become very wary of connections made between food causing or preventing cancer. I ate a plant based whole food diet for over 30 years and exercised 4-5 days a week, and always maintained a healthy weight. I've fasted, been vegan, done macrobiotics....and I still got cancer. I have no doubt that a healthy lifestyle makes you feel better and has tons of benefits in the long run for overall health but the cancer claims leave me dubious at best.

My MO studies nutrition, they did studies on sugar at UCLA and found that sugar had no effect on cancer cell growth. He also said, do your best but don't look for miracles with food. A bad diet can cause overall problems but no one knows what causes cancer and why random cells decide to mutate. He said , if anything, there are so many chemicals in our environment now, that they think that may have more of an effect than anything else. We live in L.A. And we're considering moving at some point...

Thank you, Myraknits, your input is so interesting! I can't blame my MO for not giving nutrition advice (after all, her degree is in the medicine, not the food) so I've had to do the research on my own. I'm still going to try to make changes to be healthier since I am overweight and could stand to give nutrition more of a place in my life, but I won't rely on it as a cure or cancer-killer.

Day 2 after my first Taxol and still no significant side effects! I ended up having a little bit of a flush in my face yesterday and was told that was normal. I have the tiniest twinge of a muscle ache in my shoulders- just like you get after a long day. Nothing too bad at all!!

Hello Fab Febs, Coming back up outta your pockets, that was a crappy week, only got into work today. Thank you all for the place to hide/hang out.

Francesj19 Your husband. Really? Is this his panic mode behavior? Maybe if he's "bad" the negative attention isn't on the cancer? (Better mad than sad?) Or, he's just a S*#T and I am astonished. My husband might want to claim a day all for himself, leaving me in the lurch, but he wouldn't. How do you cope? Big bad words fight, get it out, carry on? I am sorry.

Myraknits Yes to watering eyes and blurry vision. See the nurse tomorrow, missed MO on Tuesday b/c husband was too sick (yeah, that was a baaaad day) They seem pretty unfazed by whatever I report, like yeah, sometimes you can't read for a few years but it usually comes back...is that a problem? Well not that bad, but you get it.

HausFrauMi and seejuliago I, too, need the Cakewalk Taxol because I really can't stand this much longer! I have one more AC and this is just....horrible. If I can't work during weekly Taxol, don't know what I'll do. HausFrau, I have a large selection of various weight scarves plus my wig. They come off in a big hurry when I need them off, switch to cooler one. Or...not. Lots of highway driving here--I'm anonymous, bald and free until I get to my small town. The neighbors get the wig and the perky walk if I have it in me. They do not see me bald. Last thing I want to be is the topic of conversation around here. Seriously, they noticed when I got new tires on my car. And I Iive down the hill and across the street.

Piper33, In my pocket, and many others, always. Please let us know how you are doing when you can. We love you.

I sure slept a lot yesterday. Managed to get through without Tylenol 3 at all, only ES but I woke up several times not knowing where I was, why I was so sore, wondering if I was taken pain meds right...so confused. Eyes were bad but fine today. Managed to get some food cooked this morning, now the kitchen is a mess but I don't care! Exhausted again now. Might be spending the afternoon in a TV trance, watching and sleeping. So done with this. 2 left!!!!!

Watery eyes is dry eyes. Use drops and they will stop! Worked for me

image1st Taxol done hated being so sleepy from the Benadryl and my bladder was screaming every 20 mins! Couldn't nap for bathroom trips! Came home and napped for 2+ hrs which is about the time the Benadryl usually wears off for me (~6 hrs).

Weather is finally nice, sunny, and warmer so kids rode their bikes to school today by themselves -it's about .7 miles and they made it there and back so we didn't have to pick them up. Great for me next week! They are walkers with no bus option. Some days I just want to sleep and not run out to get them so that will help with weekly Taxol

Lunch tasted a bit off after Taxol but my dinner leftovers from last night tasted the same. I already feel ambivalent about a lot of meal options so if they start tasting "off" I'll be miserable. But at least I can work on these 30 lbs I need to lose.

Hot Flash Head is my new nickname -- I forgot I had taken off my turban and the neighbor's teen boys were fixing my grape vine so the dog can't wrap around the post--went out to talk to them bald. They didn't seem to care ;) I completely forgot. Til the wind blew and it got cold again.

HausFrauMi. I had my first taxol today too. Slept 2 hours this afternoon. I hope the steroids they gave me don't keep me up tonight.heres to hoping we don't feel too bad the next few days

blamons-- so far even with the AC the steroids have had NO effect on my sleep so maybe my doc has them dialed back or I'm immune to their effects!!

    blamoms Member Posts: 86

I had no issues with sleeping on the AC either. I chose to do weekly taxol with a lower dose and less side effects. The AC was bi weekly. Hope the weekly is less side effects

blamons-majority of my AC side effects were from the Neulasta. :( so hoping since I won't get it anymore.....

Hello... I had Taxol # 9 this past Monday. I have not had any serious SE except for tired...NO energy! I take a shower get dressed and I'm exhausted. No appetite either... Hair all gone, had my head shaved this week. My blood work has been fine. Last week I was borderline anemic but this last time it was fine. Just wanted to touch base with everyone.

Oh almost forgot...Is it too late to get a t-shirt? I would need a size medium? How does it work... who do I pay?

    morning!

I've read all. I've been busy with the play and my issues. Gastroscope day surgery Tuesday, feet blistered, now non period blood in urine/rush lab work. So much weight loss but swollen distended midriff. I'm scared Febs.

    Love you

    Piper xx

Please YouTube Vevo video Martina McBride "I'm Going to Love You Through It" it says it all and I thank and love you all.

HauFrausMI I was the same too with the neulasta. Felt like the flu everything ached, zero energy. My doctor said if I went biweekly I would need it again I'm like no thanks

    LovesToFly Member Posts: 705

i'm sorry paper that you're having so many difficulties and complications. I hope it can all be under control soon.

I've had neulasta every cycle, I find it much harder with the docetaxel than with the FEC. I'd like to try this last cycle without it to see if I feel better, but I'm scared to since I am still working and have to school-aged children.

    Hi All,

Been super busy at work and exhausted by the time I get home, so I've not been online much. Had to do a bunch of reading to catch up!

Piper - major hugs - we're with you! Look for a PM from me.

On the topic of food - My MO said to me right from the get go - there's nothing you ate that gave you cancer, and there's nothing you can eat that will make it go (or stay) away. The only correlations between nutrition and breast cancer that are proven are women who drink alcohol have higher rates and women who are obese have higher rates (more circulating estrogen), and high heat cooking that produces charring (think searing on your BBQ grill) is tied to higher rates of colon cancer. Beyond that - eat healthy proteins to help your body build cells back up during chemo and muscle back up after. I love my MO.

Hot flashes - hate 'em. I seem to get them all night long...from chest to the top of my head with a little sweating thrown in. They wake me up constantly...which is leading to some vicious insomnia lately. I've had to resort to my Ativan rx - not for anxiety - but to actually sleep through the night about every 3rd day or I am just too exhausted to function - which leads to chemobrain!

Splotchy - yep - the old chrome dome is looking a bit splotchy these days - but then I STILL have discoloration where they injected the dye from my sentinel lobe testing in January - at least it is brown now and not bright blue anymore. Who needs a nipple tattoo - I already have one...lol.

My last chemo is 4/26 - then rads. I'm a little stressed over the whole "go to the cancer center 5 days a week for 6 weeks" scheduling. It just feels like a ton of juggling around a lot of unknowns. I meet with my Rads doc mid May - I'll know more then, but in the meantime, my work calendar is filling up. Ugh.

    Love to all!
