I have the same pair of shoes! I paid $109 for mine. I wish I could find FlyLondon at a resale shop here! Love the bows! I'm a real bow girl. I put bows on everything. I just make them I don' have a bow gadget.

The past 3 days have been a whirl wind! I' getting the kids ready for bed now so the "skinny" on my past few days...3D mammogram, the new style ultrasound very there in a machine that sits on your breast and them pushes deeper and deeper, then off to therapy were I was sent straight to urgent care because of a lump on my right elbow. (Surgery side ) since I'm on the tamoxifen a blood clot needs to be ruled out. I have another appointment tomorrow with the oncologist. It could be a swollen lymph node which FREAKS me out. My BP has been 190/120!

oh goodness Vargadoll. What a week! I hope they rule out lymph node and blood clot and find it is something much easier (and less stressful) to deal with. Remember to breathe! I’ll be praying for good results tomorrow. Keep us posted.

Varga, with all of the running that you do, you could have a bursa sack filled with fluid. Doubtful on a blood clot - aren't those usually in the leg....dvt? Do you have pain and red/swelling in the elbow? Your bursa sack could also be infected. Doubtful on a lymph node issue, unless infected.

If your blood pressure is high because your are nervous, I can chat with you on the message system. Here are some more pics of my bows....

Michelle - that' exactly what I said....aren' the blood clots in the leg??? When I found the lump on Monday it was small. My elbow was sore on Sunday and at 2 a.m. I had to take my tribute night garment off. The lump is warm and red. It is in the location of a lymph node. My appointment with the oncologist is at 2:30 today. Of course I have read to much and my mind is taking me places I don' need to go!

The snow is gone and the temperature is warming up. Planning to get the outside decorated soon. Oldest grandson has a Christmas band concert (can we say that... holiday would be what the school would call it) tonight. Delivering Meals on Wheels this morning. Yesterday we delivered it was 18 degrees!

Varga, hope all goes well today. Sounds more like inflammation or wound to affected arm. MD Anderson is doing alot of research on microsurgery for lymph fluid drainage. I will be thinking of you and saying a prayer today. Let us know how it goes.

I am finally feeling a bit better. Unfortunately, my Waterford goblets arrived in shards yesterday, so back to the drawing board. I will be getting money back so all is well on that end. I tried my new Italian truffle salt with my steak tonight, and it was just delish. So wonderful to be able to taste again.

Otherwise, working all my assorted tasks and commitments, but think I am in (relatively) good shape. Deposited a major consulting fee in the bank today, so progress. More to come. So nice to be able to splurge on the essentials of life. Which reminds me that "essentials" include squares of dark chocolate.

Won vs. an online grant proposal system today. But quite the battle to get this uploaded.

I have an idea for a new line of clothing resulting from my recent case of feeling ill/seriously dragging - Mope Wear. I think it should ideally be comfortable, feel luxurious, require little effort to put on, and be an instant cheer-up. I wore my Hanro wool/silk camisole with lace yesterday under a long cardigan with a fur collar. Wool gabardine stretch slacks for bottoms. Clark's flat loafers. Some bling to brighten it all up. All underneath my vintage grey mink coat.

However,  today I swapped out the bottoms for a Chanel skirt I have had in my closet some time, and Clergerie boots with heels. Done with the Mope Wear! - Claire

Clarie - I wold like to place a order for Mope Wear ASAP!

I am in full blown mopey mode! The lump is cellulitis. So another round of antibiotics, lots of fluids and rest.

Oh no on cellulitis!!!  I am so lucky not to have those problems. Trying to wrap my brain around assignment number 2 that I need to get out today, and it's only a few minutes past 8a. Need to figure out what to buy for puddings, and do some other errands. Hopefully get in either a ride or a run. Perhaps an early run as threatening out. - Claire

I think the mope wear is called "cuddle duds." I saw a women whom I thought was wearing a housecoat at Sam's Club. She was tres chic, so I asked her about her outwear. She said, "it's Cuddle Duds from QVC." I thought, hmmmm.

Varga, sorry about the skin infection, hopefully it will resolve soon. Have your looked up microsurgery to restore fluid movement between lymph nodes? MD Anderson has a team working on this issue right now, and may have trials going on.

Claire, I did not know you felt unwell. Were you sampling the soot again? What is up with that? Glad that you were able to get moving in your Chanel skirt, mink coat, and fancy boots. :) You need to post pics!!!

Tonight, I am going to our club. It is going to be packed with a large group dinner, and a full house for a drawing for $7000. The club has been fun lately, and I am taking over the design of their higher end sportswear for members. A non paying gig, but so much fun.

Thank you, Michelle! My arm is tight and a little sore. I am "resting" ( my version I just did everything slower today) and prepared a big pot of chicken noodle soup and egg salad sandwiches for dinner. Watching a Hallmark Christmas movie now. Have a wonderful time at your club tonight.

varga, I hope your arm gets better. I have to go to sports medicine on monday due to right shoulder pain. I had finished 6 1/2 weeks PT with some improvement but it still hurt. They ordered an MRI which I had Wenesday got results on friday. It showed inflammation and a small tear of one of the muscles. I am going in for a steroid injection monday.

gkbuser- thanks! I am feeling so much better. (Minus the effects of antibiotics! ) Ouch on the arm for you! Any idea how you might have injured yourself? Since I did not have visible lymphedema arm it took me awhile to figure out how this happened. I had poked under my thumb nail with a pipe cleaner when I was decorating the Christmas tree. It bled a little and I was cautious with caring for it. EXCEPT... for handling meat. It did not dawn on me to wear gloves when handling raw meat and I cook everyday. Lesson learned!

It is much warmer today and the sun is shining. I plan to get outside to finish the decorations.

Varga, Not sure but maybe playing water volleyball this summer. Most likely not injured suddenly as I never had any defining moment I remember any pain all of a sudden at anytime. Just the overuse caused some swelling and then due to the swelling a muscle starting rubbing on a bone which caused the shearing tear that caused inflammation and fluid build up. Hoping the injection doesn't cause lymphedema....

Girls, I was having a fantastic day, planning what time I was getting ready for a Christmas party tonight. While eating yummy coconut chips, I broke a dental bridge with a pontif (fake tooth.) Back story, I wore braces for five years in my 40's. Plan was to do implants in a couple of areas. Did not have the bone density on the top jaw to do it, so went with bridges. I was born with multiples of the same tooth and at one point had 37 teeth. Wore braces, and some pulled, dental work done, etc. Had bad dental genes, with my mom never getting permanent teeth and wearing dentures from the age of 18. But, with the help of a great dentist, I have awesome teeth with crowns, caps and veneers. So, no party for me. Stayed at home and worked on some Christmas projects that I want to finish tomorrow. That was my goal....finish all jewelry projects on December 17th - the Farmer's Almanac said that was the best day to finish projects. On a lark, I happened to run across that factoid.

I will see my dentist on Monday and get a temporary bridge put in. I am glad that I did not do the AI's and went with Tamoxifen, especially with thinner jaw bones. I cannot afford to lose any bone. Hope everyone is feeling better, Varga, Buser, Claire....

Varga I am coming to your house and taking that wonderful cat decoration. I love it! Everything looks beautiful!

I went shopping yesterday and tried to finish up getting gifts. It was a long day. We left at about 10 and got home around 6. I was planning to watch a movie but was dead asleep 30 minutes in. I really was worn out. And I still need to finish up. Not much, but I have my mind set on something and I didn’t find it yesterday. But it will wait. I’m still tired today.

I did get to go see the new Star Wars Movie on Friday night (could be that helped me get so tired too). It was really good. I want to see it again as I know I missed some things. I’m such a theatre geek, I have to see almost everything twice because I get too analytical watching the first time. Has anyone seen it yet? (I’m also a Star Wars junkie)

Well, it’s early in the day. I should probably get started on laundry or something. But I’m enjoying sitting in front of the lit up tree, wrapped up in a blanket, drinking my coffee. Have a great day ladies

Varga, how rude of me not to say how pretty your decor is!!! I know it is hard work, but even harder, I am sure, with your affected arm. Did you doctor tell you to take it easy?

Taren, my friend went to see Star Wars, and had not slept well the night before. She told me in the more blah parts, she took micro naps. I expect to see her rewatching it as well.

Had to take a nail file to the pointy areas where my pontif broke off. I kept cutting my tongue, and the dental wax was a failure. Happy Can't wait to get them fixed tomorrow.

Oh no, Michelle! I had a temporary crown come off a little over a year ago just before a conference. The temporary tooth glue held up for a bit, but it was no fun wondering if I would look like I had a tooth missing. I couldn't wait to get that one fixed. Dental problems are absolutely the pits. Fortunately, I was able to do implants, and getting the rear crown replaced is one of the items on my list, now that I have a bit more money.

I am feeling a lot better and did a ride yesterday, and speaking of breaking things, my bicycle chain broke!!! So glad I wasn't 20 miles from nowhere. Someone came and helped me out, and I went to the bicycle shop. They can't fix it until Tuesday, but I was able to cycle back to my car. With all the cycling I have done in my life, this is the first time this has happened. So thankful that I didn't have to walk the 5 miles back to my car.

    Varga.....glorious tree!!!

I wanted to do a ride in the farmland nearby, but think that wiser to stay close to home and finish up the report I am working on. I think I should be able to do the ride later in the week. I love to see the earth when it's asleep, and always so beautiful. I also don't trust that chain.

I have Land of the Sweets, The Burlesque Nutcracker tonight which is why a short day to get things done. I didn't get to puddings yesterday evening. I did get to having some Drambuie, listening to jazz, and watching my Christmas tree. Some of the lights flicker, and just magical,

Have a great day everyone, and good luck at the dentist Michelle! - Claire

TaRenee - that cat stays there year round. I just add the hat and bow at Christmas ;o).

Michelle - ouch! I do hope you get the dental work taken care of soon! Yes I'm to be resting and hydrating. Yesterday I watched a Hallmark Christmas movie which I never sit down during the day. I ended up with a little over 5 miles yesterday so that's about half my norm. I made several trips up and down our property to toss out all my pumpkins and limbs that the snow had knocked down. Then I blew the carport and verenda off. The arm is sore but not painful like I hear other people say about cellulitis. I have a high pain tolerance and sometimes that's not a good thing.

Claire- I can't wait to be where you are with exercise! I just run around like a mad woman with a swiffer, vacuum or steam mop!

I have not seen one Star Wars movie! I know how can that be?!?! I'm not a big movie watcher. If we go to the theater I usually fall asleep and my husband said it's cheaper for me to sleep at home! Hahaha

Varga... 👀 Never seen a Star Wars Movie? 👀 I can’t imagine NOT watching them. I guess I grew up on them, and it’s almost like being a kid again waiting for the next one to come out.

PS. They have been running non-stop on tv all weekend. I know. I’ve been watching them all weekend

We are celebrating our one year anniversary for this thread!!! The anniversary date was December 12th. We have had well over 800 posts, and nearly 9000 views. It really is wonderful to have a "happy place."

Claire, this dental bridge had a pontif (fake tooth) in between two other caps. They have never seen a pontif break off. Tomorrow, I am going to hustle right in there. Working on a Chanel bracelet for a relative. Finished a Chanel pendant on chain for other relative. Today, according to Farmer's Almanac, I am supposed to finish projects and that is my intent. What time did you chain fall off, my bridge broke at about 3pm CST, which would be your time 1pm? Did you catch a cold or flu? I am thankful that my flu shot went okay and am quite the germ phobe with gloves/antibacterial gel. I touch nothing outside of my house in the winter, unless I have gloves on.

Varga, hopefully your arm is doing better today.

Update CST 9:30PM, I finished my design projects. Woohoo...now on to do a bit more wrapping.......

Hugs to all, and to all a good nighteee......

I think I had a cold that yesterday's ride helped as nearly done with it now. Yes, my chain broke around 1 pm. I was planning on being home by 2, but it ended up being 3:30. Would have been after 4, if I hadn't been rescued.

Today was more work on a report due Tuesday. I am at the point where I write the conclusions, plus polish up what I wrote earlier today. I have one more after this, which should be easy. Got out invoices for the first two this morning.

Tonight was Land of the Sweets - The Burlesque Nutcracker. Just the most glamorous costumes and this year, a jazz orchestra. I had to think twice about what "Nonette" means. Still a-glow from the experience. I got chatted up by a couple of young guys at the Musicquariam while having a drink waiting for the doors to open. Great fun, and nice to know that I've still got it!

Brutal week ahead, but should wind down nicely towards the end. Too warm for skiing, but that may change over the next several days. Would love to get in one more ride in the farmland, and perhaps see snow geese. Two years ago, I saw all sorts of waterfowl in one of the fields which tends to have a lot of standing water. So I can't wait to see this again.

Off to bed as the week beckons. Good luck at the dentist tomorrow, Michelle!!! - Claire

I am new to this forum since my diagnosis a couple months ago and have since spent many hours reading ladies' stories here, and even more about BC and its quirks, the good, the bad, and the ugly, on the internet.

One story I found was from the New York Times in 2010, wherein the author reported she was diagnosed with stage IV BC and told she would be dead in two years, lived her life accordingly cramming in activities, but then 17 years later she was still kicking. Her article said that annually in January she still posted on this forum to say "I'm still here!" I do not know if she is still "here", ( I searched on her name on this forum and could not find it, do not know her prior username) but I found the story inspiring. Doctors are often very wrong about prognosis, new therapies get developed all the time, and we are all unique individuals, with unique protoplasms, and having realistic hope to be disease-free and stay there is not Pollyannish at all anymore.

chronicpain - I am sorry to say that the author of the article you cited passed away in 2012, at the age of 56. Her story was indeed inspirational, particularly her long survival after such a devastating diagnosis at a young age.

I am waiting on my dentist office to call. Apparently, it might be tomorrow because it is a 2 hour appt. So, I will finish wrapping a couple of presents, including the design pieces I finished yesterday. I will update later regarding dental bridge and conclusion of wrapping. Looking forward to doing something fun in the next 24 hours. Oh, yeah, I am going to make small fancy tree toppers to go on a couple of presents - actually becoming part of a present!!! So here's to bows, Chanel, presents and fun!!!

Claire, I hope that you are okay. I heard about the Amtrak situation in Washington
