Didn't know where to post this - so I'll post it here.

Powers Boothe passed away from a heart attack brought on by his quiet, six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. All cancers are terrible, but I hear that pancreatic is particularly NASTY during the end stages. He probably had a rough time during his last few weeks.

What a brave man...he kept it private, didn't want any of the paparazzi and Hollywood types to know while he was alive.

Kudos to his palliative/hospice care team for respecting his privacy. Any one of them could have made some $ selling the story to the tabloids weeks ago. Of course, stories might still make it into the rags now: "Powers Boothe's agonizing last days..." along with sneaked out i-phone photos.

I just hope that doesn't happen. Let the man rest in peace and give the family their privacy.

May he Rest In Peace without any cameras, in his face and may his privacy always be honored. Cancer=taking to many everyday. Not ok. Sadly we are helpless ~M~

As always, thanks to everyone for checking in. This past week has been a very difficult week for me. I had chemo last Tuesday and see MO. He told me they had been watching my hemoglobin and every week it drops a little more. He thought I should have a blood infusion this week since it is my week off of chemo. I think the chemo did drop it some more last week. Since last Wednesday I have found it very difficult to stay awake. I sleep day and night. We have increased my pain meds a couple times and as far as pain am doing much better. I go on Thursday to get the blood transfusion. I'm actually looking forward to it cause I'm feeling pretty rough these days. I was able to get to church yesterday but I think I dozed through most of it. My sister said not to worry about it that she was sure there were others there sleeping, lol.Keep me in your prayers, and I always pray for each of you. Take time to enjoy the moment.

More prayers that the blood transfusion will give you both a physical and an emotional boost. It's hard to stay in the game when you feel so tired and run down. Deanna

Kandy - the blood infusion will help, but pain killers are exhausting. the meds may be a piece of it.

Lots of pieces. Hang in there.

Hello ladies, the blood transfusion did go very well. I am not as tired as I was and do feel some better. I go for chemo tomorrow and labs, so we will see where my count is. I hope all of you are doing well. Prayers for all of you and enjoy the moment.

    /waving/ Hey Kandy!

I laughed at your comment about falling asleep in church. I have been to 4 movie matinees in the past month, and have fallen asleep at every one. Maybe I should just plan to take naps there.

    Hope to see you soon!

So, my day started out so promising. My tumor markers fell 200 points. Woohoo. My appointment with MO went well. He said that now with markers falling confirmed the MRI and pet scan report, life is good. Then off to chemo. I was finished with chemo, they discharged me. I went to the bathroom on my way out. I had started itching. All of a sudden it hit me, I looked in the mirror, and sure enough, back and stomach was blood red. I came out and called the nurse. I was like, I don't think this is good and pulled up my shirt. She rushed me back to the chair, about 6 nurses came. They accessed my port again and started pushing drugs to stop the reaction. I had to stay a couple more hours. I'm so sad. Find something that works and I'm allergic to it. Great. They said my MO would call tomorrow to discuss what we are going to do. What a bummer. God bless you all. Keep enjoying the moment.

Kandy, I don't know what to say except GRRRRRR and a bunch of words I cannot say, let alone post. I am with you in spirit and lifting you up in prayer. I am glad that the treatment benefited you as far as you could handle it, and I hope that the next treatment that you and your MO agree on works even better! BIG, BIG (((HUGS))).

Kandy - Hooray for TMs going downwards! I suppose you have pre-meds such as Dex, Benadryl and something for nausea before starting the chemo drip? I had my 4th Taxol infusion today and had an itchy skin rash pretty much all upper body. They stopped everything, gave all saline and chemo a 15 min break and then resumed. I had a 1/2 worth to go but they doubled the time to one hour for the rest of the infusion and then was smooth sailing from there. Weird thing is same thing happened on infusion number 2 at exactly the same time. We decided that from now on we will administer the chemo over two hours instead of one. There are ways to cope with these reactions such as adjusting the pre-meds or time of infusion, so don't be sad just yet! I'm so happy for you that TMs went down, mine are still creeping up after 1 cycle of Taxol. MO will move up scanning if my TMs don't start behaving.

I agree completely with Linda. They will prepare more premeds as a prevention. Make sure you ask them to slow the infusion. Same thing happened to me. They didn't stop the chemo, especially if It was benefiting the patient. It happened to me with abraxane my throat closed up, next time Benadryl & Ativan. It never happened again. I don't think they will switch you just yet, unless it keeps happening, especially since it seemed to have leveled out, or they wouldn't have let you go. Hugs hugs ~M~
