Mominator...a point of levity: I love your user name. When our boys were little, my husband used to call me "Attila the Mom".

    Happy 4th to everyone....

Kandy, I think Cathy/AnimalCrackers is right: things are going uphill quickly!!Love ❤️ your MO!

JoynerL: LOL "Attila the Mom" nickname. My kids came up with Mominator because I fixed things. It is the opposite of Dr. Doffenschmerch from Disney's Phineas and Ferb, who kept making evil devices that all ended in --inator.

Well ladies, sure haven't felt well lately. Last Monday my DH, DD, and myself came down with a nasty cold. By Friday I thought I was getting much better. Saturday morning I woke up really sick. Didn't have any idea what had caused it. The rest of the weekend I ran a fever of 102, 103. There should be a law that states, no adult is allowed to have a fever that high. Kids might can handle that but an adult can't , lol. . First thing Monday morning I called MO. They said, get dressed and get over here. They did a bunch of labs and a chest X-ray. As I had already figured out, I have pneumonia, plus an UTI. Not sure where that came from since I don't even have symptoms. Anyway they put me on antibiotics and let me leave. By the time I got home they were calling again. Said another lab result was in and I was extremely dehydrated. Said I was going to have to come back and get fluids. They said if they couldn't get me feeling better within a couple hours they were admitting me. This time I had to call DH to see if he could take off work and take me. I just didn't have the energy to drive back over there again. After a couple hours there they let me go again. The worst part is they are canceling my chemo this week. They said I was so close to being admitted as it was that if they gave me chemo, that would throw it over the edge. Great, just got to an okay spot and now we cancel chemo. I really don't have any luck at all. Hoping all of you are doing good, enjoy the moment.

Kandy, glad you are better now. ((((((hug))))))

Doesn't your cancer center have an oncall line? Didn't your doctor tell you to call whenever you have a fever over 10o1 or whatever standard they use? For our stage 4 sisters, don't wait until work day to call your Onc. If help is urgently needed, call the 'oncall line' or go to emergency room. We don't need to suffer anymore than we have already gone thru.

Have a good July 4th, and watch for splendid fireworks if you can find locally! If not, watch on utube!

Crud Kandy, Another small setback...Luckily they caught it and got you treated and you did not have to be admitted! I hope you are back to feeling well and get your next infusion on time.

Kandy, that's scary. The hydration thing is a big deal, especially if you have a UTI along with everything else. UTI's can travel up the tract and if it gets really bad, it can shut your kidneys down.

As Stage 4 sisters, our immune systems are already compromised so any cold can turn into pneumonia literally in a matter of hours. As others have said, DO NOT WAIT if your temp goes over 101.

I totally live in fear of something like that happening to me.

You're lucky you caught it in time. Don't worry about missing one chemo infusion. You need to build up strength. The SE's may be a little stronger during your next one as you continue to get better.

    Take care of yourself!

Oh, Kandy, forgot to add that you might want to get the pneumonia vaccines when you're all better.

I got both of them. The first one in Dec. was a piece of cake, but the second one in Feb. gave me a sore arm for a week. You get them about 8 wks apart. My MO was ADAMANT that I get these.

She's a keeper. As widespread as my mets are, she's very optimistic that I'll have several years if I can just stay "healthy sick". At this point with my pre-existing cardiac arythmia, getting pneumonia is more likely to do me in than Mr. C.

Thanks for sharing here. We all have to hold each other up. Once you whack that pneumonia back, you'll be running around again.

Thanks to all of you for caring. I know I really should have called, but I truly have a hard time doing that. I can do it during business hours without a second thought but after hours, weekends, holidays, I would have to be on my deathbed. My DH tried to get me to call, I kept saying I'm sure I will be okay till Monday. I think it comes from working in the heath field for so long. we just don't want to bother them. I take my second dose of antibiotic tonight after dinner, I'm really hoping that makes a huge difference in the way I feel. Don't think I will be seeing any fireworks this year. Really don't have the energy to get dressed and go into town. I do hope y'all have a wonderful time celebrating the 4th. Enjoy every minute of it. Praying for each of you

Kandy, I am glad you weathered another storm. Please, next time,if you find yourself down and out after office hours, make yourself a priority and call. Really, that is what those people on call are there for. Many hugs.

Kandy, I am also one who has always been very reluctant to call the help line. In most cases I feel like I already know what they are going to say, and in my unprofessional opinion, they always overreact. But then there are the times they are right on the money. I'm getting better about listening and calling.

I hope the meds have you feeling better soon, and that your back on your chemo schedule.

    Hugs to you.

Kandy - the fever does a serious job on cancer ... it's a well documented form of treatment. you are just hitting it from another side this week... and then you will get back to chemo when this is past. I think you will find you are on track after this episode.

sorry you have to be sick this weekend.

Agree with Z. Still glad everything is under control as the infection could do more harm than the fever. I had many cancelled chemos with febrile neutropenia. The body just needs time to recover.
