Peachy I hope whatever is causing the fever goes away soon. So frustrating when you don't know why!

Kim love the socks! You have been so encouraging in all of your posts. Your chemo is a little further along than mine so I always check in to see how you are doing with it. Taxol is my next step in three weeks. I too have restless leg syndrome so I guess that will be a bother in my future too. You look awesome!!

On Tuesday we had a pretty bad storm here in Pittsburgh. It was 4:30 and I was driving home from work. I stopped and played the lottery, hey the jackpot was 750million! On the road people were pulling over with hazard lights but I have driven in worse storms so I kept going as many others did too. I was driving 35mph and a tree fell on my car! I have a moon roof so the bang was very loud as it shattered, windshield shattered, headlights busted, you name it. But since I had foot on gas the tree kind of bounced and my car pulled out from under it. I felt the roof touch my head but nothing painful. As I sat along the road with rain pouring in I remembered I had a golf umbrella in my back seat, I poked it right out the roof! Hey I had to keep my lottery tickets dry! I'm sure it was quite the sight! My car was towed and I got the call it is a total loss. So now I need to go buy a new car. I may not have hit the lottery but I am rich in so many other ways. I survived without a scratch and I have my family that loves me. Even with this cancer I feel blessed. I know God is watching over me. I have all I need in life.

Susie - amazing story!!! So grateful you came out unscathed. Just shows your superwoman powers!

Love everyone's pictures! Congrats Julia and HapB for completing a benchmark.

Your steroid-induced tasks are hilarious hapb! I too feel like an Energizer bunny for a couple days. Be careful about overdoing it though! Sometimes I have crashed mid-errand and wanted to zap myself to bed immediately.

My goodness, what a week.  So glad you are OK Susie .  and Hap B I am really impressed  I am behind schedule around here but this is my week to rest up, at least for a couple of days.  We are having lots of rain in Florida, but at least we aren't in Texas.

Susie, That is an incredible story of God's protection over you! So thankful you are ok!

HapB, I loved reading all that you did. Wowie you got things done. You should sleep well tonight! Talk about an inspiration. Do what you can when you feel like it. Yeah for finishing RADS! I kind of have a little cough after chemo. My mother notices it over the phone. It comes and goes and is mostly just a dry cough.
It is almost midnight. We were gone noon to 10:30, and I'm not tired. Was a full and fun day. It is definitely the steroids. Would prefer a good night's sleep, though. The socks were a gift. People have been incredible thinking of me. Can't wait to pay it forward when all of this is behind me. Prayers for rest and healing for you brave, inspiring ladies.

Thinking of you..I know you are in Sarasota..hopefully not dealing with any flooding going on down that way..I am up a little ways in Holiday so just rain here but no flooding going on.

Hhuey, not flooding in South Sarasota where I am.  Some flooding further north.  A friend of mine and her adult son are trying to drain her car engine of water right now.  I visited my parents and will take tomorrow off because that will be day 4  my bone pain day if the usual pattern applies.  Last time though and then on to Arimidex next month..

I had 5/6 of TCHP on Friday and my steroids have kept me busy too. Finished helping my daughter move on Saturday and steamcleaned 3 rooms of carpet at her old place. I promised I would just explain how to use the cleaner but I didn't want to do any of the other cleaning with chemicals so it all worked out. My in laws were still with us- my mother in law had been with us for 3 weeks but my father in law was under evacuation from port aransas ,tx from the hurricane so he came up too. On Saturday they got up at 6, waiting for news and found out that they could not get on to Port Aransas until Wednesday so they decide to head to their other home in OKC. So at least it's quiet here. Chemo # 4 was brutal for me so I'm happy for peace and quiet now. We are now getting rain from the hurricane but that's all.

I have a question about losing toe nails, anyone have this problem? I have one that seems to be turning black. It's funny because it doesn't hurt but my foot is pretty numb from neropophy. My dr did cut back on the C part of my chemo, saying that was causing many of my SE. Do I put anything on it- neosporin or bandaids? Any advice is helpful :)

I told my husband that I am treating myself to a steroid pill on Monday morning, I stopped on Sunday night after chemo# 4 and literally crawled out of bed unable to walk on Monday. I'd like 1 less day of that this time!

Question about SE on finger's tips, I found all my finger tips are getting very dry, anyone has this SE

Paulettk,I had this SE early on and the soles of my feet got severly dry too. I started adding baby oil to my nightly bath and that had really helped. Both my finger tips and feet have been fine since I started doing that. Still have neuropathy but not rough dry skin.

I have noticed increased peeling around my fingernails. I always had that when I got manicures. I am trying to keep them hydrated with lotion and Burt's Bees Cuticle Cream. My right pinky toenail was sore last weekend, but seems ok now. Got a better night's rest last night. Still hot flashing like cra-cra.

Wishing each of you a SE-free Monday! Heart

The only thing I've noticed about my finger nails is that they're very tender. I cut all my nails down short. I usually have no problems with growing nails or brittleness. I'm hoping I don't lose them like some people have.

It so beautiful outside today. Not too hot. Perfect day to sit on the deck and enjoy the sunshine with my tea. Neighbors and DH had other ideas. One weed wacking, one cutting down a tree and DH decided to sand the fence. So much for peace and quiet! Came inside and got a massive nose bleed. Took fifteen minutes to stop. Thankful I didn't have to go to emerge to get that stopped.

Let some sun shine in and keep us all safe this week.

back to triage today because fever really spiked this morning. Had a CT scan and it showed what previous 2 X-rays did not--inflammation in my lungs. Chemo can cause pneumonitis (inflammation) but would not cause fever. Because I have had a constant fever for a week, it leads them to believe it is a bacterial infection causing the inflammation. I'm on antibiotics now and hopefully that does the job.

No nail issues so far, thankfully. I do have heartbeat thumping in my ears that can drive me nuts at times.

Hoping all in or who have family and friends in TX are safe. What a storm.

Paulette...the dr said because my fever was spiking so high, it was most likely a bacterial infection. Any fever from chemo would be low grade, if at all.

I still ran up a fever overnight, but nipped it at 99 with Tylenol at 2:30am. Dealt with the sweats after that. Ugh. Fever was back up late morning so took Advil. I'm two pills in on antibiotics so hoping it is just a matter of time before I am off this roller coaster. I go in on Thurs as scheduled for DD Taxol #2 but it will be a game day decision whether I get it. Putting on my coat of nail envy either way.

Susie!! Just read about your storm story. My word, just when you think your plate is full...a tree falls on your car. So glad you are ok. It did make me smile thinking of that umbrella through the sun roof. You must be a Girl Scout--always prepared. Good luck with the car shopping.

    Julia. Thank you.

Peachy: glad they finally found the problem. I know what you mean about the pounding. When it first started I thought there were workers outside until I realized it was coming from my own ears. Been like that now for the past two chemos. Take care of yourself.

Peachy, Wow, you have been through it. I am glad they have realized it and hopefully the antibiotics will knock this out. Stay strong, lady!

It is unreal what is happening in TX. I can't help but think that it could always be worse.

    Hi everyone,

We're working on two hair loss management videos and we want to include your photos!

    Deadline for submission: September 8

These videos will help women facing chemo-related hair loss to emotionally and physically prepare, and to understand their options. The videos will be viewable in the Hair, Skin, and Nails section of the site by October 2017.

We're looking for any of the following:

·Photos of cutting your hair shorter

·Photos of the time period when hair was falling out

·Photos of having your head shaved

·Photos of yourself wearing synthetic or human hair wigs, hats, turbans, scarves, going "au naturel," or any other options you chose

·Photos of you using cold caps or scalp cooling systems

We welcome all photos, including those that have a sense of humor (such as the mom whose young children shaved her hair into a Mohawk)!

When submitting, please also include the following:

·Your name (we will use your first name and last initial if that is comfortable for you)

·Your city and state / city and country if non-U.S.

·The year(s) the photos were taken

·Diagnosis details if comfortable sharing (stage and type of breast cancer, HR and HER2 status) Note: This isn't required – voluntary only.

·Your email address and a phone number where we can reach you

    How to submit your photos:

·If the photos were taken on your phone or digital camera, please send them in their most raw form: no Photoshop, no Instagram filters, etc.

·If you're scanning physical photos, please use a setting of at least 300 dpi and then save the photo as either a TIFF or a PNG file.

·All photos can be sent to Claire Nixon, Editorial Director at cnixon@breastcancer.org. She will respond to you promptly with more information!

Thank you and looking forward to your photo submissions!

I think I recall something about low platelets could cause the heartbeat thump in the ears. The volume varied at different times for me and was definitely more noticeable lying down. I wondered if my fever had something to do with the intensity. Of course in the quiet of night everything sounds super loud. A little zen music or nature sounds helped disguise it a bit.

I think the antibiotics are doing their job. I feel so much better and have gone much longer in between Tylenol. I'm hopeful they will give me a thumbs up for chemo tomorrow. Ugh...never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that would would be something to hope for. Different world.

Kim, your pic reminded me that I was given a pair of similar socks. They have Rosie the Riveter on them. I've got them packed in my chemo bag for the morning.

I hope all are feeling well.

HapB: Too funny! That brought a smile to me. Thanks for that. It's so easy to forget and go outside without anything on. I've done that a couple of times but luckily no one was around to see.

Peachy: So glad you're getting back to "chemo normal" and hopefully you'll be able to get your next chemo on time. I'm going to ask about the platelets when I see the nurse next week. My thumping hasn't been as bad as it was last chemo but could be I'm getting use to it or going deaf from the noise.

If someone had said six months ago that I'd be looking forward to getting my last two chemo treatments I would have thought they were nuts. But here I am so looking forward to getting this over and done with. Every time I start feeling better and a little bit more normal then I know it's time for the next treatment.

Peachy, Great to hear that you are feeling better. Having good days make me really appreciate having come this far, though I am ready for this ALL to be behind me.

HapB, That is funny. I LOL'ed!

Pink, I have never wanted any summer in my life (and fall and winter) to pass so quickly. So, I get it. Truly, I do!
