Thinking of you Teese ... hope today goes well for you.

Yes Teese, thinking about you here, too. Hope all goes as well as it can.
I am flying on the decadron-it's actually useful today, because I am too busy to be worried. I washed and brushed both dogs, hung up a load of laundry outside, took it down, the put up another one, picked berries, cleaned the kitchen and my bedroom, and am only stopping because I'm feeling like a nut. So far it does not make me any hungrier. I had to make myself eat, too. I take it again at 8:00 tonight. How will I sleep? I haven't read too much from people on the boards about it, but wow. Maybe I haven't looked in the right place

Yes Leatherette! The steroid has me feeling hyped up or something. I'm planning a nice long Epsom salt bath tonight, hope that helps me sleep.

leatherette- I wasn't prescribed steroid pills but do get steroids in my pre-meds. I seldom sleep the night after chemo. Wide awake most if not all of the night

Thinking of you Teese. Hope all went well.
I had my port checked today and all is well. They also did blood work and I was told everything was in the perfect range. Yay.
My hair is definitely falling out and my scalp hurts. Getting a crew cut on Wednesday.
Then I went and bought 4 pairs of converse shoes. I may have a problem. But there were so many different colors.
Then I bought a "gaming chair" to use in my classroom. I was able to get into my classroom to set it up today. Pre planning starts Friday. I'm working pre planning but not once kids start.
Here is a pic of my teaching assistants. My youngest daughter is in the middle.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day, even with the steroid I'm still tired. I read many people found 4-5 days are the worse day for them I wonder why?
Hope everyone are doing better than me.

paulettek- hoping tomorrow is a better day for you, too. I think, for me, the day of chemo (counting that as day 1) thru day 3 were pretty good luck hole on AC because of the pre-meds. When they wore off, days 4-6 were harder as I had only oral meds to help with nausea. My MO gave me Zofran and Compazine to take for 4-5 days including chemo day. Days 4 and 5 I had to eat something every 2-3 hours to beat off nausea. On day 4 I also wore Sea Bands. And on days 3-5, I drank a lot ginger tea. I kept trying to stay awake on days 3-5 after first AC but gave into naps on those days after AC 2 which helped.
One day at a time. You will feel better. You can do this.

Today (day 5) was a doozy for me. The achy bones were too much for me. I couldn't sleep all night so I just took the day off from work. Plus I couldn't sit still in one position for very long. Lying flat in my back felt best but I got so restless. I took 2 Claritin at 3 am and still couldn't sleep so I took an Ativan. I managed to get short periods of sleep but the pain didn't go away. This afternoon, I felt so useless sitting in bed all day so I asked my brother if he had a foam roller I could borrow. He ended up getting me one from Amazon & it showed up at my doorstep within hours! So I massaged with the foam roller and it helped ease some of the muscle pain. But the bones are still achy. Hopefully I can sleep better tonight.
I realized that everything is bland-tasting to me now. So dinner was chicken & ginger soup. I'm glad the nausea went away at least for today.
Leatherette: hahaha that is exactly how I felt after my first cycle! I wanted to get everything done that day. The steroids made me feel bloated and I mostly drank fluids that day. Did they give you a prescription for Ativan? That is supposed to help with restlessness from the Decadron.
Janeway: Converse are the best! you Can never have too many... And how fun is your classroom!
Teese, hope all went well today for you!

Paulettek, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Today was day 5 for me and I had to force myself to get out of bed, eat and walk around. I didn't leave the house but tried some pacing and stretches to get my body moving. I ate a lot of crackers and drank ginger tea to help with nausea. Hope tomorrow is better for you!

How is our mother hen doing??
sunnyjay- it will get better! Make an effort to walk even around the block, I am not one of the runners, and I can't believe I am telling you to walk, it does not make sense but it will make you feel better. Also you can probably take Tylenol for pain. My first round was horrible, these second one I tried to be ahead of the pain
Paulette- Hang on! After the hype days there are the low days. And the same way the steroids make you hyper and good, they are downers when removed at once. So now you have the chemo plus lack of steroid ( pulling you down) then Day 6/7 will be better. Mine w a slight diahrrea but manageable. Bone pain manageable.
Jane way- if your hair is falling get toppik! It's made wonders on mine! I found it in target.
Now I am so moody/ edgy!! My poor hubby! Anyone noticed that? Or am I now making excuses for myself?

I'm actually feeling calmer now, even though I took more steroids at 5:00. They recommended doing it earlier, but I was afraid to put more into me until I calmed down a little. I do have ativan, and will probably take one tonight. Sorry things are getting bad around day 5 for people. Feel better, everyone

DodgersGirl - you are right the 4-5 days are tough one and I slept most of the day. So glad I don't have bone pains. I had a little more appetite tonight we I took advantage. I don't have bowel movement today and I won't take zofran tomorrow hope it helps.
Mari - we all hang in there one day at a time. Tomorrow I have doc appointment hope I have enough energy to talk to him. Lol

Moody I'm trying my best not to show my bad moods I really feel bad he did so much in the house now. I'm just so appreciated he is here for me.

I'm thinking of those who are feeling bad. I hope it passes soon.
I'm at the cancer center, had labs, waiting for a quick visit with my MO. Then on to the infusion room. I'm riding the steroid high! Could have walked on the treadmill for hours. But, needed to get showered and out the door so stopped after my usual hour. Best wishes to others having their first round today.

Leatherette, I just saw your post. I think you are starting today. You will do great. I had my first chemo last Wednesday, almost a week ago. I am doing the TCHP. I think my doctor prepared me so much for possible nausea -that I haven't had any yet.:) Only symptoms so far are very dry mouth, some stomach issues, a really raw throat and fatigue.I did have the Nuelasta patch the next day and that did cause some leg pain which I took some oxycodone for to help me sleep. But that only lasted about 3 days.

dmjmom, is this your first today?

OMGosh, I just typed out a looong post and it disappeared! Ugh!
Well moving on, everything went great yesterday and my MO's changes and my diet changes did the trick. If I wasn't so fatigued from I guess round the clock Ativan and Zophran I'd have a party. The steroid is probably helping with nausea, but "0" energy boost, however not complaining as I slept well last night.
I had originally sent out notes to everyone, now I'm abbreviating it in the interest of not finding an excuse to avoid the dreadmill that's waiting for me downstairs.
Runnermum, leatherette and dmjmom, your so ready to get this show on the road, and its feels like such an accomplishment to get one under your belt. Post in with any SE questions, we're all new at this too, but between us all we've probably read thousands of pages of info. Plus sweet ladies like Dodgersgirl and others pop in here frequently.
Sunnyjay and Paulette- your going to be rounding the ben on the worst SE real soon. So glad your keeping us informed and letting us know what works and what not.
Matryoshka- the hair loss, yup it's been one of the hardest things for me. I love my thick wavy hair that has the exact right cut so I can do it up in 10 min and it always looks great. MY ONLY shining feature. Ugh. But I'm very interested in the new hair in about 6/7 months. We shall see. I hate myself in hats and scarves, I just don't have the face shape for them. Sigh. We will persevere.
Janeway- I want to attend your class, I'm a sci fi nut. Particularly Star Trek, my kids, grown now, would have fought to get in your classes.
Theantz - glad your SE seem manageable, yay!
LoJo - keep posting your walking routine, it helps me get motivated.
Thank you for all the hugs, wishes and prayers, it brought tears to my eyes each one. I'm so sentimental,my poor husband kept wondering why I kept tearing up every time I looked at my phone, between family, church friends, and you guys I was a fawcet. I was so scared at the time and didn't really calm down till about bedtime as it was obvious then that things were fine.
Love you all, your ever in my prayers,
Mother hen

Dmjmom. How the infusion going?

Good news - day five is not bad at all. Yay!!! Went to see my surgeon appointment still have water retained at my incisions it might take longer to get rid of the fluid.
Energy level is good so that's something we look forward to.
Leatherette- how are you doing on your first day of chemo? You could be tired rest up!

So glad things are going great now, mother hen!
I've finished herceptin and Taxotere, and am 1/3 through my carboplatin. No bad initial reactions, which was my biggest fear. Delicious pastries from an awesome bakery across the street, lots of Free Cell (the 'cool' version of solitaire and texting with my sister, funny nurse......not a bad day so far.

Hi ladies!!! I haven't been on here in a while. I had my first TC session on the 12th and haven't felt good until yesterday. The Zarcio (sorta like Neulasta) shots kicked my a$$. I had so much bone pain that I had to go to the ER since Norco didn't help. This has to be the worst that I've ever felt in my life, body aches, bone pain and constant headache. I have a CT scan today to see why I still have a headache so hopefully they don't find anything there that's not supposed to be there. My hair for some reason is still hanging in there but I'm sure it won't last. I haven't been nauseous but still have no appetite, but thankfully my energy levels are up.
I hope you're all feeling good and the SE aren't bad. I have my 2nd session next week and I hope it's not as bad.

Question : did you go out dining for lunch or dinner during chemo time? I did and I hope it is fine

Leatherette - hugs. The first day is bad just sleep and you will feel better.

My first chemo infusion went so well, I'm grateful! My wonderful nurse got a vein on the first try, so no problem going without a port or PICC. I was out in less than four hours, so not bad at all. I was able to easily drive myself home. I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes when I got home to make sure the medications were well distributed. Now I'm just drinking lots of water and trying to decide if it's too late for a nap. Might try to put it off so I have a chance of sleeping tonight. I have the Neulasta pod on my belly, now worried about the bone pain.
Thanks for asking Theresa!
