Mkestral, loved the leatherwork photos you have. I envy people who are talented in many different crafts. My SIL is good at a lot of different things, mostly crochet but also painting and sewing as well.
I was up late last night. My anxious mind before going to bed had me looking up every news story about a possible Trump ordered attack to try and seize Canada as the 51st state. It took longer to remove those thoughts so I could relax enough to go to bed. I set up a dream to get me off to sleep and slept all right after. Today, really need to stop looking at all the stuff. Might watch Strange Brew or some kind of Star Wars pink five trilogy or something else, not like my TV does not have enough streaming things.
Other than that, did start laundry, I would think with all the cleaning and other cloths I wash, my house would be super sparkly but not quite. It is passable though. I am always pondering vertical storage for stuff though as most of my containers are full and purging some of the stuff I do not use, also paying more attention to the fridge as I did find some interesting stuff at the back of the bridge. Need to buy less salad, I have decided that broccoli cabbage may be good for me but I really do not like that stuff if I am honest. Beans of any colour are fine, still have quinoa and chia seeds, should I want them, spinach cubes mixed in with something else and microwave those too.
This first meal will include have eggs, beefless ground and cheese. Will whip up the eggs first in a big bowl sprayed with cooking spray, put the beefless ground and heat it up then slice and chop up with the cheese. Season as I wish. I no longer use the NuSalt as it gives a weird taste, going to dispose of it. I just use less actual salt and smaller portions of dry seasoning. Makes food taste just fine. My garlic spread is good as not a great source of the sodium. The following meal will include 1/2 cup of the white and black bean mix, cheese chopped in with some of the mingle I purchased. I decided though I do not love the mingles puffs, I will simply add some for extra flavour.
The first meal was good, will have some beans and cheese later on.
I do hope everyone's day has been good and was in everyone's pocket.

Mara- So sorry about your difficulty getting to sleep last night. I think it's terrible that politics can cause us all so much stress. It doesn't seem necessary or right. I think you were smart to get yourself away from it for awhile. Sounds like the rest of your day has been better, and I hope that continues for you! I too hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

@shanagirl it's a real turquoise cabachon. The beaded frame is called a bezel. I put it on a necklace. A friend gave me a box of rocks with a pile of cabs made of agate, jasper, turquoise... Treasure! I'm glad you had a happy flashback about BBQ. ... We barely made a dent in it lol so much leftovers mmmm

@candy-678 In your pocket tomorrow for cataract surgery may it go quick and smoothly.
@mkestrel Wow you are so talented , beautiful and very cool pieces.
@goldensrbest In your pocket also for facet injections❤️Hope it goes smooth and gives you relief.
@irishlove Glad to hear you're home safely , so sorry about the plane debacle. I haven't heard many positive things about Frontier and this just confirms it for me. I hope you had a wonderful time on your visit.
@mara51506 Ugh sorry to hear you had crappy sleep especially with politics on your mind. May you get exceptional restful sleep tonight.
So I'm trying my hand at sprouting annual seeds. I was all ready to start them indoors and transfer after the last frost. Then I came across a couple of video's of starting seeds in ziplock bags outdoors in the winter or before last frost. So we'll see what happens, figured not much to lose since seeds are so cheap.
Thinking of many of you today those seen and those reading along.🌷
5 -
Cookie, good luck with the seeds.
Goldens, in your pocket for the injections.
I watched a couple movies, Strange Brew again, a really Canadian movie and just plain silly comedy classic where beer on its way to Oktoberfest is drugged so this brewmeister can take over the world. Max Von Sydow played him. Main characters were Bob and Doug Mckenzie played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas and their dog Hosehead. I've watched this a lot since I was a kid and told a lot of people to take off you hoser that was said quite often. Fun stuff. Other one was called Control Freak which was a horror movie on the disney plus stream, in the Star section of adult movies, that one was not bad.
I worried less today, kept up to date the news BUT took breaks. Told my brain not to worry about anything, one day at a time and all of that good stuff, applies to my cancer too. Deep breaths are a help and taking more steps whether in the house or not is fine. I will be going to bed earlier, around 2am but that is a couple of hours earlier and will ensure I am up earlier, need to book Paratransit tomorrow for an echo friday afternoon.

Well, not sure about what happened last night, could not sleep no matter how much I tried and nothing perceptible on my mind. Stayed in bed a while and then got up, went back to bed for a few hours and still no sleep so giving up for now. Going to have a couple of mini pot pies as I have not eaten as of yet or some of the swedish meatball leftovers, not sure which I want to have or take one mini pot pies and add the swedish meatball leftovers.
I tried phoning paratransit it not realizing I am a day early, that is OK though. Just feel off today, not exactly unwell, just shaky.
Hope everyone's day is going well, in pockets for everyone who needs me.

@mara51506 Oh no, so sorry to hear about your insomnia. That will certainly make you feel off when your sleep deprived.Do you use relaxing sleep sounds or white noise? Hope you get back on a decent sleep schedule.
2 -
I've got scans tomorrow, and for some reason, I am super emotional tonight, with tears flowing on and off… I think I'm tired and hopefully can get some sleep, then head to the medical center in the late morning.
I want to keep living for a long while yet, and gosh, wouldn't it be nice to not have scans and meds and side effects?
10 -
Good morning all. Haven't slept one minute. I hope @mara51506 you were able to sleep and feel better. It's awful to have insomnia. Mine is due to having my first cortisone injection into the base of my spine. Gee I started to feel better in hours and wanted to start lunch in crock pot and plant seedlings and due minor yard work. No heavy lifting. Well I think the initial well being boost has worn off. I did initially have a migraine headache but it's gone, too.
@sf-cakes Oh how I am hoping you get good news and that long life you so richly deserve, especially without side effects. I'm hoping for the oral form instead of every 30 day SERD injections in each butt cheek.
@goldensrbest Good luck on your upcoming scans, too. I wish all of you gals only the best and pain free nights…
I am a bit unsure of scanning protocol. I was every 3 months, now they said I would go to 6 months, but when I called to ask why I did not have appt. before seeing MO, they said it's because I am now scheduled at 9 months. I am kinds conflicted about that. I can't tell what may be MS related or cancer related. My mind races to the what ifs…..I'll have to discuss with MO and team in person with appt. on Monday March 31st. The next appts. will be in a brand new cancer treatment center. They desperately need that new building and the space…
In pockets for all your needs and much love to all. I couldn't do it without you…..
Laurel

sf-cakes - pocket duty for scans. I pray for good results for you…
Mara - I hate insomnia. Don’t know why it happens. I don’t often experience it as I take Trazodone for sleep. But I will occasionally wake up in the wee hours of the morning and not be able to fall back asleep. It happened last night, hot flash woke me up and kept me awake for an hour. Hope you can get a good nights sleep tonite and wake up refreshed.
Irish - sure hope your cortisone shot brings relief and lasts a long time. Unfortunately the ones I get last about 3 weeks - they used to last 2 months. But the relief is so worth it. And I can’t imagine your scans being moved out to 6 months given you’re a fairly recent MBC patient. Hope you get some clarification.
Candy- hope your first cataract surgery was a success. And that your second one is as well.
Pocket duty for all in need and big hugs for everyone.

SF-Cakes - In your pocket for sure for your scans later this morning! I can totally relate to the emotionality, and the deep seated wish for no scans, meds, or side effects, but a long and quality filled life. It can just really get to you sometimes and you've just got to let it out. Good luck today, and please let us know how things go. Hug!
Irish - So sorry that you couldn't sleep. I thank goodness that insomnia has never been a notable problem for me. I really feel for those who get it, because what I hear about it is not good. I do hope the injections help in the long run though. All those activities you have planned sound real fun and fulfilling, so maybe you will sleep tonight and then start enjoying all those spring plans you've made. I'm assuming they think you're doing OK if they've put your scans out further. That's a good thing.
Goldens - Hugs to you too!

Quick check in. Eye #1 done. Cannot see too well, as I have 1 eye repaired and the other not. Also, cannot wear glasses yet, as cannot put them on with the shield on my face (covering surgical eye). Been a difficult time around the house the last 24 hours hahaha. Listening to TV, as cannot see the screen. No reading books. And the glare from the computer is painful.
Signing off for now. Better days to come.
7 -
Candy - I have a feeling that this is overall, a success. With time for this one to heal, and then to get the other one done, things should be all good. I've never known anybody that got this done that didn't say afterward that it was wonderful and that they wished they'd done it sooner. I've heard people say things like how they hadn't seen so well since they were teenagers, etc. Good, good luck with this and thanks for letting us know the latest.

SF Cakes, I am sorry to see that you had trouble sleeping, being tired can definitely turn the tears on for sure. I do think that no SE's and worries would be wonderful. I sometimes wonder if it would be nice to just have scans and skip the drugs but it would probably cause cancer to show up in force. In your pocket to make you feel better, sometimes the tears are your bodies way to get rid of extra stress. If you need to sleep I can type out my generally boring activities.
Candy, I am sure you thought of this but setting computer brightness and making the colour a little more yellow may help until you can wear glasses may help. In pocket for your other eye.
Irish, I am sorry you also had trouble sleeping as well, in your pocket with some boring stories as well. I hope it returns soon.
I did have trouble for a couple of nights, worried about the orange man invading Canada and such. I decided that even if I come across news or anything, worrying won't make it better so just going one day at a time. Sending myself off to sleep saving people and that usually help. In my case, worry is useless, not going to predict the future any more than the news can predict exactly what will happen. Last night, I did sleep almost 10 hours, went to bed a bit earlier and turning it back a bit at a time.
I had phoned for a Paratransit trip yesterday but was a day early so phoned today when I woke up, Echo pickup and drop off from hospital all set up.
Need to breakdown a bunch of cardboard from Amazon for the catfood and litter purchased lately and assemble the garbage. Perhaps do may trips and stop feeling like it is such a big deal.
Food will focus on beans, may start pre making extras for dinner as well so that I do not run out of stuff too have. My thought this morning was to tear up an english muffin to put at the bottom of a bowl. Add the beans and cheese, chopped in together, perhaps some beefless ground. Will affect whether to use 1/4 cup beans or 1/2 cup as the cheese and english muffin could be filling. Turn the whole thing into a cheeseburger type idea using different toppings. Later have an egg sandwich if still hungry.
Not much else on the agenda for me so will wish everyone a good rest of the day and in pockets for all who need me.

@candy-678 Happy to see you, one down one to go. Thanks for checking in, wishing you a speedy recovery.
@mara51506 Glad you caught up on sleep! Hope it's a good day for ya.
@irishlove Yep the steroids will do it to ya, hope it doesn't last long. I understand about moving scans as my MO said the same last visit. I told her I didn't feel comfortable moving them yet. I told her we would discuss again next week. It's so hard not to lean on that crutch and for you doubly with the MS.
@sf-cakesUgh the scanxiety i awful.Big hugs and positive thoughts for stable scan.

Morning check in- cannot stay on computer for long. Went for my 24-hour post op check. All looks good as far as the eye healing. I asked the doc to pop out my lens in my glasses for that eye. She did. It was horrid. The difference in magnification she said. So I cannot wear my glasses for now. So 1 eye "natural" with my horrid vision I was born with, and 1 eye clearer but still bad vision. I was sitting in my normal chair yesterday and I could normally see the clock on the microwave. I looked over and thought "I cannot see the time (blurry) with my new eye, but better than the unrepaired eye as II cannot even see the MICROWAVE with my natural eye". Hahahaha. Getting around the house has been an adventure.
Thursday is eye #2. New glasses in 3 weeks.
6 -
Candy - Sound like progress - slow perhaps, but progress! Good for you.
4 -
Candy-I'm amazed you are able to post. Good luck tomorrow!
5 -
Candy, you are making progress as threetree said and the adventure getting around the house definitely sounds familiar. In your pocket for the second eye as well.
I slept a long time again, only broken up to put an earphone back in when the AC kept kicking in then shutting off. Getting to the point it will stay on for the day as it warms up. Not sure when apartment heat shuts off. I never did take window AC out due to DB injuring his thumb a few months ago.
Not sure what is happening today, got plenty of laundry which I skipped yesterday, the usual sweep and such. I did get a lot of boxes out yesterday in the reccycling but missed out on garbage as I was tired, not too worrled, will take out in a couple of weeks and there is not too much as I do recycle or reuse most things. Food containers become storage or reused as a container. If there is no use then I go ahead and recycle. I am also soaking dishes for half an hour in the big washer, some dish soap and no agitation, just a soak, gives more room in the kitchen, I then pull them out for rinse and drying in the bathroom sink. If wondering why I do this, gives more room for future cleaning of dishes. I would love a countertop dishwasher but would have to put on the stove or use a cutting board over the sink, but no need for that as of yet. Soaking in the hot water in the washer, which is done after scraping and rinsing first just makes them easier to get clean. Once dishes pulled out of washer, I put lint filters in and run a couple cycles to get any stuff that may have been left behind as well as rinse out the soap. Works best in the big washer. I also have a pile of cloths to clean as Tigger was sick to his stomach, not sure why, will give him smaller portions of food and maybe wet food with a helping of probiotic to go along with it. Also ordered a sensitive stomach formula from Hills science diet as he was sick twice, not sure if the food he has now was the culprit or his water which I washed out the bowl and put fresh stuff in, not offering food right now and washing all cloths together later. Dishes will be left in the other washer until entire load of towel and cloth are cleaned up.
Not sure about food for the day, freezer is looking emptier which actually is really good, I would like to have it empty enough to store dessert type stuff. I do not need too much dessert but some cold things would be nice. Just need to stop stuffing stuff in the freezer. Might chop up some beans, put an egg and whisk it and microwave it. Once cooled, chop the egg and beans mix and chop in with some spicy queso chips I don't like to eat and cheese, makes it all the texture I like, use some mayo and garlic seasoning, have not dumped out the no salt yet, will do it when I feel like it or just add a small dash. Do something with the english muffins later, was thinking of the torn up muffins, add some butter to torn up muffins, let that cool and mix with peanut butter. I just get bored with toasted muffins and this gives me something better than eating peanut buttter out of the container.
Anyway, hope the day is going well for all and in pockets for all who need me.

I will swear in the most polite way possible. Golly Gosh darn it, my recycle bin has been stolen, it was cheap, just from the dollar store but irritating anyway. That is two that have disappeared, will definitely just use the blue recycle bags to put stuff out, very irritating. Not reporting it to the property manager as they will not likely care. Bags it is going forward. Keep the one recycle bin left in here to hold other things before stuff goes out.
I slept a little less time but that was fine, need food, did some wash and need a sweep and vacuum as well. May mop as well. DB texted yesterday so going out tonight, not sure what I may want to get at this point, if we go to Costco, will get eggs and go to normal grocery store if I want more muffins. Also had a big box of Hershey's chocolate almond bars from Amazon, arrived before I woke up, got a good quality cat food for Tigger, sensitive stomach formula, I will see.
I am hungry at this point now so thinking eggs, beans and cheese with an english muffin at the bottom of the bowl though will make the egg and bean first then chop through egg and beans with cheese and put the torn english muffin at bottom of bowl with garlic and some extra cheese. Will be good.
I do hope everyone has a good day and in pockets for all needing me.

Mara - sorry about your recycle bin. People can be such schmucks🤬🤬.
Busy week of doc appointments. Monday was back injection, yesterday was oncologist and today was stress test. Thankful for stable results on my scans.🎉🎉 My steroid injections have been very helpful. Hope the results last but I’ll take the relief. The crazy thing is the injections also help my severe knee pain which despite 2 knee replacements still cause a lot of pain. My pain mgt doc thinks this is coincidental, but it happened when I had injections in January and again now. I did talk to my oncologist about stopping my anastrozole to see if that’s what is causing so many issues in my knees. It’s something I will explore once the steroid injection wears off.
Don’t have results from stress test yet. Had one 2 years ago, again hoping things are still ok. One thing that isn’t is my BP. For whatever reason despite taking meds, my systolic number has been in the 140s and 150s. When I saw my oncologist yesterday it was 180 (yikes) and was able to get it down to 160 after waiting a bit. So I’m sure a change is in order. I don’t use a lot of salt so I know that’s not the culprit.
Here for pocket duty for those in need and sending hugs to all!

Mara-Just out of curiosity/cultural exchange-how does garbage pick-up work in your city? For me, the regular garbage bin and recycling bins are provided by the city. I can take out garbage or recycling at any time b/c the bins are out in the alley. I could bring them in and lock them up but no one does. Sometimes other people put things in my bins but I don't care at all. Garbage is picked up once a week-recycling every two weeks or so. If my bins were stolen/moved, I could request new ones from the city free of charge. I can take out small loads whenever I want. Your system seems much different-can you explain?
I grew up in a suburb. There we purchased our own cans/bins and brought them out and back in once a week. In Chicago, for people who live in apt buildings, there are typically garbage and recycling dumpsters, which again can be accessed at any time and are the responsibility of the landlords.
3 -
I stuck with beans, beefless ground and shredded cheese. Put 2 tsps of the garlic spread and a tsp of garlic powder as well, not the salt, just powder and a little dash of salt. Thinking of mayo and possible bit of sour cream seasoning. Eggs can happen later on. I did not even chop the beans and it was still just fine. Had a couple of Hersheys chocolate almond bars as well which was good.
2 -
Chicagoan, so we live in an apartment building and simply share a schedule from the city, we all drop off in the front of the building for pickup. I used the recycle bin yesterday and it was picked up but gone this morning. I will simply use bags for the recycle as I converted too bags for garbage. Got tired of fools putting their garbage in mine, so went to bags, will keep my last recycle bin inside and stick boxes in there. Take the bag and let them get picked up. I reiterate, good golly gosh darn the person who took the recycle, I wish the same luck for them.
2 -
Mara-So you have to keep everything inside your apt until either Garbage day or Recycling day? I think it's like that in NYC too.
0 -
Mara People can be so ridiculous, sorry for the aggravation. Hope you enjoy your outing tonight.
@goldensrbest Well glad you got some relief and hopefully will last a bit. I know with my DH it always varied how long he was relieved of his pain. Interesting with the knee, so the knee pain isn't radiating down from your back issues? Either way glad you get relief for the knee also. I guess perhaps an increase in BP meds dose..fingers crossed for good result from stress test.
Still thinking of many here, hoping you are all hanging in there♥️
3 -
Well, surprisingly, someone put the missing box back in the building so that is good.
I did go out last night, was a good trip. I did get a few things needed at costco, eggs and M@M peanut container. Went to the grocery store and got some canned and sliced mushrooms to add to meals with more eggs. I did enjoy the walk overall and the outing in general.
I actually got to bed at a more decent hour than usual and slept pretty well, have the echo today at 1pm so getting picked up at 1230 by paratransit.
Focusing on beans again including in my breakfast, doing a bit of laundry and that is about it. Eggs will feature more in meals and picked up chocolate milk for the potassium and nutrition and protein. So thinking breakfast will be eggs and beans, microwave those together, chop up with cheese and reheat. Will get that ready soon. Not sure what to have later but I will see.
I do hope everybody has a good day and in pockets for whoever needs me.
4 -
Mara - Good luck with that echo. Thinking of you.

Thank you to everyone for your good wishes, pocket duty, and support. My latest scans remain stable, which quite frankly amazes me. ❤️
Since I've surpassed the median amount of time for progression-free survival on this med combo, my scan anxiety seems to have increased, particularly when waiting for results (the scans themselves, whatever!) But I'm now going to allow myself some grace and breathe deeply. And do some laundry, lol.
Love you all so much!
8 -
Congratulations, SF-Cakes! There's nothing like stable. I can understand your increasing anxiety as time goes on though, I do the same thing. While hearing "stable" makes me feel very good, I continue to get more and more anxious the longer I am stable, because the odds go up so much that next time you won't be. Wishing you much, much longer on this same regimen! Sometimes these drug combos really do work well for much longer than the average.
