Anyone else? Re-growth of body hair is insane! My facial hair (and neck 😳) was so long and fuzzy I had to do something. My teenage son even mentioned it. I chose all over face and neck threading and now it’s smooth as a babies bottom again. Don’t really like this much smoothness because it feels weird but it’s better than looking like a baby bear. 😁 Wondering how long before it grows back. I haven’t removed the out of control leg hair yet because I’m still deciding on which method to use. Wish my head hair was growing back faster but it’s my understanding I’ll just lose it again on AI treatment.

melmax we all know how my facial hair removal went lol. My sister (after the fact) swears these work and she said the cheaper ones work better than expensive ones. And laser hair removal won’t work on that light peach fuzz hair, tried that route first.

My leg hair is terrible 🤬🤬 was not this thick or grew back as fast as it does now.

jjpope, back in the day that I had facial hair I used that product and it worked great for the little fuzzies. I’m not having much luck growing hair anywhere yet. I hope I’m not in that low percentage group that never gets their hair back after Taxotere. 🙁

Fairydragonfly, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’m so happy for you

jjpope1 I remember and was thinking about that when they were pulling my hair out. 😬 Thanks for the tip and link! I’ve always been an extra hairy lady (since puberty) and didn’t think it could get any worse but I was wrong. I’m thinking depilatory cream removal for lower legs and hair bleach for thighs but I’m afraid to use chemicals since diagnosis. Ugh 😑

Flnana2 I’m hoping and praying it just takes a little while longer for you to get head hair 💜 Remind me again how long since your last chemo? I wasn’t told about any possible long term effects from any doctor. Had to learn things here and by looking up on the internet. So far it hasn’t changed my path but the hormone treatments have me thinking about hair loss again.

Melmax Taxotere is the drug associated with some people suffering permanent hair loss

if AI causes hair loss rogaine is effective so that’s good-

I have one more week of radiation and then I have 11 days to worry about my BSO surgery -will they find something? Ugh I keep telling myself I had a CT scan plus a pelvic ultrasound and then 5 months of chemo so I should not be freaking out that something could be brewing in my now not functioning ovaries . Thanks for reading I know you guys understand !

Melmax, my last real chemo was 11/14/19 but I had two infusions of Herceptin & Perjeta 12/5 & 12/26 before starting on Kadcyla on 1/16. Kadcyla doesn't list hair loss at all as a side effect and my MO said H & P shouldn't cause my hair not to grow in. I do have very minimal hair starting to sprout on my head...that is the only place though. Fortunately, I didn't lose my eyelashes or eyebrows completely.

2019whatayear, I'm headed for removal of ovaries in a few months also. Let us know how it goes. please. Best of luck! Can't remember who was going to start the facebook page...anyone???

UpstateNYer - it sounds like I won't need radiation now (Yay), so I recover over the next few months. I see the gynecologist in April and then move forward with the prophylactic removal of my ovaries (plus fallopian tubes and uterus and cervix). I plan to use the next few months to try to lose weight and learn to love my new body.

!regarding fuzzy facial hair after chemo:::

I’ve been reading other boards and a lot of people have said the extreme white fuzz (or fluff as some call it) on the face gradually goes away. They didn’t use hair removal of any kind and it gradually went back to normal- the way it was before chemo.

I’m not going to remove it anymore and see what happens.

Just checking in and caught up on where you all are in treatment. I don't remember who said what, but I was told by my MO that Perjeta can slow the regrowth of hair so that even though chemo stopped, it might take a while for hair to come back. She looked at my finger nails and showed me where I stopped the chemo but below that, my nails are not 100% healthy.

What is AI treatment? I'm sure I should know this but......

I finished 20 of 25 radiations so I'm near the tail end which is good. I'm just starting to get really red and sore and of course tired. But that also might be my 7:15 appointment time daily (which I prefer)

I did six rounds of TCHP and supposed to continue with Herceptin and Perjeta through July but I am stopping the Perjeta. I cannot deal with the daily diarrhea any more. I really feel like the improvement in my mood and overall functioning will outweigh any benefits the remaining perjeta infusions would provide, fingers crossed! I can't wait for the assault on my body to stop!

.....and... the Shannen Doherty breast cancer recurrence news really kicked my butt, stage IV after being cancer free after diagnosis and "successful" treatment in 2016.

AI is hormone therapy. I’m having a tough time thinking about starting it after rads.

My fingernails look horrible. Don’t think there’s anything we can do. I just keep them short and clean. 🤷♀️

You are so close to finishing rads! 🙌🙌

Our group has done so well getting through each phase of treatment. Look how far we’ve come since this thread started inJuly. 😊

like we all know we cant compare ourselves to others everyone’s cancer is different- that being said Shannon Doherty’s situation is pretty different than anyone here I think. She said she felt a lump but didn’t go to the doctor because of a lapse in insurance so then she was diagnosed in March 2015 and said because of the lapse it had spread to a lymph node or two and so in 2015 she didn’t have surgery instead they tried hormone therapy -which didn’t work and so it was over a year from 3/2015 that she had surgery.

In any case I hope she lives for many more years.

melmax you are soooooo right about our group. We are either going/gone through each step and I'm proud of us. A group of strangers in the most horrible vulnerable time in our lives stepped up, trusted and loved each other, helped each other through times we didn't know if we could get through or wanted to get through, shared the ins and outs of what we were dealing with at the time, Lord I could go on forever. I WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT WITHOUT YALL. You were/are my release, sounding board, my PERSON. And I would like to say thank you and I love each one of you. I hope I've helped you as much as you've helped me! I tell people all the time about my group. You are truly amazing.

Went to MO weds and he said all is great and he's not worried about me one bit. He felt that spot I felt and thinks it's from the reconstruction surgery. Had a new dr shadowing him and he introduced us and me as the person that did what most can't and won't do. He is still shocked I had a BMX. I looked directly at her and said I can't believe they talk anyone into doing the minimum and run the risk of dealing with this again..... I told her I was 1000000 % happy with my decision at 40 yrs old of a BMX and will never change my mind, nor could I imagine having to do this twice. Then we told her that I code DIEP as my reconstruction and showed her the results. She couldn't believe it. Overall MO made me feel better and my mind a lil better so that's a plus. I go back in 3 months. I do need to keep check on glucose because last few times of blood work I've noticed it's high they've not said anything but I need to pay attention to that.

Last chemo was Oct 16th am I feel great. Get lil tired but for the most part I'm great. I still worry about getting sick so I take elderberry gummies daily and vitamin C gummies. My hair is doing great (wish it would be faster but I know that’s asking too much) and I use that product I shared in earlier post. I use shampoo and spray every other day, I have done a side by side and the current pic is bed head sorry but I wanted you to kinda see the length. It’s filled in the same all over and I’m thankful for what I have so far! Doing that pic and putting it with the other I can still see how much fatter my fingers still are 🤬🤬 I had done sooooo good losing 45 lbs before all this crap happened.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
