Chevy are you using a laptop? If so and you want to share a meme that you see on this thread to FB, you need to save it first. On a laptop, you would hover over the meme and right click your mouse. Up will pop a menu and one will say “Save image to”, so click on that and save it to say, your desktop. It should download immediately. Then go to FB, go to where you can post something, click on the photo icon and upload the meme from your desktop.

I mostly use an iPad and that is just tapping on the image or meme and holding it down until a menu comes up and I click on the “save to photos”. Then I go on FB and upload the meme from my photos.

You can’t copy and paste the memes, they need to be saved first. Hope this helps.

Oh! My! I've found my people here!

I've been following the news closely and I'm a bit afraid that Trump is contemplating a coup. His firing of Esper and the shake-up in the military is making me very, very nervous. Anyone else have concerns about his intentions?

My fear as well, Fairchild. My only comfort right now is their flaming incompetence. If anyone could screw up a coup, it would be Trump and his minions. Hell, they can't even organize a press conference.

Greetings, Fairchild. Like you, I have concerns; I think many of us do. What helps me stay sane is if we have these concerns, those who are powerful in the Democratic Party also are aware of this possibility and are taking steps to keep that from happening. It's my belief that none of Trump's actions post-election come as any surprise to the Dems. They have been at the ready to take on whatever Trump throws out. There are something like 78 days between the election day and inauguration day, and the Dems knew in advance they would be battling Trump the entire time.

I found the following article on Salon, you may find it of interest:

Can Trump really stage a coup? Experts weigh in on whether it's possible

Professors and pundits have a few theories on whether President Trump is serious about refusing to leave office

    https://www.salon.com/2020/11/10/can-trump-really-...

Here is one theory discussed in the above article:

Theory: Trump is just playing to get out the vote for special elections

Trump is trying to keep his base engaged for political reasons, some political scientists suspect.....

"By all appearances, yes it looks like Trump is trying to reverse the outcome of elections that by all accounts had equal monitoring of ballot counting by Republicans and Democrats, and in states where the Chief Election Officer is a Republican (GA, NV)," Wendy Schiller, chair of Brown University's political science department.

"Everything Mitch McConnell is doing and saying is about keeping the Trump voters enraged enough to get out in full force for those Senate seats," Schiller wrote, referencing the upcoming runoff elections for both Senate seats in Georgia.

Paul M. Collins Jr., a professor of legal studies and political science at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, agreed that Republicans are trying to keep their supporters engaged and angry to leverage the base for whatever Trump is planning for next.

"They see them as a way of delegitimizing the Biden administration and the electoral process itself," Collins told The Boston Globe. "I think they believe this will help maintain their base of support, whether for a potential 2024 presidential run or to help the president succeed in whatever other plans he has after January of 2021."

Biden campaign gears up for legal warfare as he nears 270

"The campaign is gearing up for an onslaught of court challenges......The Biden campaign spent months building a voter protection unit that included a "boiler room" made up of hundreds of lawyers. It's led by former Obama White House counsel Bob Bauer and Dana Remus, who served as the campaign's general counsel."

In the middle of all of this, I wanted to share this impressive story out of Cincinnati, OH:

She says the sheriff fired her for being gay. Now, she'll be the sheriff

After losing her job at Ohio's Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Charmaine McGuffey decided to run against her former boss.

    image

    https://www.today.com/news/she-says-sheriff-fired-...

Charmaine McGuffey, an out lesbian, has been elected sheriff of Hamilton County, Ohio. McGuffey, 63, made headlines in the primary where she challenged the incumbent, Jim Neil, who fired her from the sheriff's department three years ago. Neil insists he terminated McGuffey for creating a hostile work environment.

In a pending lawsuit against the department she will soon lead, McGuffey says she was the one subjected to a toxic workplace. She maintains it was because she spoke out against excessive force — and because she is an openly gay woman.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, McGuffey said she knew she wanted to be a police officer by the time she was 14. But when she enrolled at the University of Cincinnati in the late 1970s, women weren't allowed to be uniformed patrol officers.

That changed by the time McGuffey graduated, and she joined the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office in 1983. Rising through the ranks, she received glowing reviews and numerous accolades over more than three decades of service.....promoted to major in command of jail and court services, making her the highest-ranking woman in department history. Under her watch, the Hamilton County Justice Center moved from being Ohio's worst-ranked large jail to its best in only three years, according to audits by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections.

IMcGuffey was also named regional Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, according to her bio, and the Ohio Chapter of the National Social Workers honored her as Citizen of the Year.

But even during her rise, McGuffey said, she felt singled out in "one of the harshest male-dominated environments you can imagine." When she spoke up about the mistreatment of inmates, "I was told to sit down and be quiet," she told LGBTQ Nation. "I was the major of that jail, so my name's on that if you guys are going to shove the use of force under the rug …"

Her gender and her sexual orientation were also issues, she said.

After a deputy filed an official complaint alleging she screamed at and belittled subordinates, Neil launched an internal investigation. The chief investigator determined McGuffey "used her position to retaliate against employees, as well as engaged in favoritism," according to department records. To McGuffey, though, the real goal of the investigation was to discredit her.

After more than 30 years, Neil demoted her to a lower-paying civilian job, according to McGuffey's lawsuit. She refused the lesser role and was fired by the same man who promoted her to head the Hamilton County jail.

After being fired, McGuffey nursed her pride for a year and a half. Then she decided she could do Neil's job better herself.

She declared her candidacy in May 2019, promising her election would mean "our country is moving forward."

Endorsed by Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, D-Ariz., and countless civil rights groups, McGuffey won the April Democratic primary against Neil handily with 70 percent of the vote. Neil crossed party lines to endorse her general election opponent, Republican Bruce Hoffbauer. On Tuesday, McGuffey defeated Hoffbauer 52 percent to 48 percent.

"I've lived here my whole life — people know me," she said. "I have been out in the community in uniform, helping people. I've never strayed from those core values. It served me through his attacks."

Neil declined NBC News' request for comment.

McGuffey will be the first LGBTQ sheriff in Hamilton County, as well as the first woman to serve in that role.

Tampa’s mayor, Jane Castor is an out lesbian too. She was Chief of Tampa PD for several years. Very well liked and respected in both positions. Maybe there’s hope for Cincinnati too.

I think talk of a coup is media hype. Yes, he fired Esper? but don’t you think there is enough Brass at the Pentagon that one of them would step up to take charge and activate whatever is necessary

It's not the media coverage that scares me, Spookiesmom. It's how easily he's undermined our institutions and norms. He breaks the law with impunity on a daily basis. The Republicans do nothing to rein him in.

There was a quote a couple years back from former Bush speechwriter, David Frum: "If conservatives find they can't win elections democratically, they won't abandon conservatism, they'll abandon Democracy." That seems to be where the Republican party is right now.

Trump must be the only one-term, impeached POTUS who lost the popular vote TWICE!

Trump mania is fascinating and scary, it's not at all about politics, it just happens that he used the wide-reaching political platform to manipulate his disciples into being his allies for his desire for fame, attention and power (and eventually money). These people were lost without a direction and full of shallow grievances and through him found their tribe. Who knows where it'll lead, there could be a shadow presidency completely hijacking GOP, a split from Fox crowd into some sort of Trump media empire/QAnon conspiracy stuff. What's disconcerting is that this movement might continue long after he's gone through his sons.

It's true that we live in a harsh world, but it's also true that gentleness invades that harshness with its own kind of beauty. We see it in the way a mother cradles a newborn baby, in the eyes of a father roughhousing with a preschooler, in the silence of a setting sun, in the affectionate caress of a lifetime lover and friend, in the peace that settles during an anxious prayer, and in a thousand ways more.
Yes, gentleness is invading our world today. The only question is whether or not you've joined the revolution. -Mike and Amy Nappa

This might be old news, and maybe someone already posted it. Just heard about it this morning, Trump's press conference at the Four Seasons landscaping business https://youtu.be/LMwcnZjuB-Y Loved the comment about not being sure if poll workers referenced were the ones in voting centers or pole workers in the sex shop across the street. Called my reps today (2 conveniently not answering phones). Commenting and asking them what they are doing: about the current situation challenging voting, national security and leaving ourselves wide open during this chaos to Russia, North Korea, China, jobs/econonmy/evictions, health care/ACA, climate change............ Have donated to the dems in the Georgia run-off, even though not in my state, may join a postcard letter writing if/when it happens

    BlueGirl, that was hilarious!

BBC's take is funniest I've seen. I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time Happy

"It began with a tweet from the president, it ended with his personal lawyer in the parking lot of a landscaping company, struggling to be heard over a man in his underpants shouting about George Soros" https://twitter.com/bbcrosatkins/status/1325909819...
