And all the major news outlets called it. Orange one called a presser for 4 pm. Either he’s going to concede, or announce he’s running 2024. I won’t watch.

Naturally, FL's governor wants to do this. GRRRR.

    https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/11/13/technology...

President Trump's last-ditch efforts to reverse the election seem to come down to a far-fetched scenario, one in which Republican-led state legislatures choose the members of the Electoral College, overturning the will of voters.

Could it work? Election law experts are highly skeptical. And leaders of the Republican majorities in legislatures in key states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina, told The New York Times this week through their offices that they saw no role for themselves in picking electors.

That has not stopped some high-profile supporters of the president, including the talk radio host Mark Levin and Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, from suggesting that Republican-led legislatures should consider ignoring the popular vote in close-fought states won by President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. and handing their electoral votes to Mr. Trump.

glennie - I know Trump and McConnell will do anything to keep Trump in office. But I don’t know if they are willing to overturn the will of the people who voted for Biden. If that happens we are done as a democracy.

I concur about the derogatory remark made about Nancy Pelosi. She has more balls than the entire male side of the trump dynasty and has well earned her chops. Her influence is what got things moved from Congress to the stalemate in the Senate. She said things to trump that the Grim Reaper Mitch would never dare to say. It is he who needs to go. He is the old stale air you are smelling! And to me it smells like old farts (whichever way you wish to interpret that).

She is my idol. I would be proud to stand beside her and be called a bitch as well.

Largely due to Ivanka and Mcninny, I've developed a prejudice against blonds who seem to think looking pretty is everything. I know there are a lot of blonds out there who don't deserve this. Cindy McCain comes to mind for one.

Betrayal and others, I agree with your utmost admiration of Pelosi.

Since the election, there’s been a noticeable shift in my area about taking Covid19 more seriously. OH governor has a mask mandate for Ohio businesses, there must be signs posted to wear masks, and the gov. said it will be enforced with fines and shut downs if violated. The few places I’ve been, I see everyone complying without issue. Local news air interviews with high ranking local and state officials and medical personnel in both OH and WV who urge people to mask-wear and distance. WV gov. is cancelling things left and right. I feel these politicians and Republican owned organizations no longer fear retribution from Trump, so they are finally acknowledging Covid’s seriousness. It’s good they’re finally on board but sad that Trump dictated how the pandemic would not be dealt with.

Wren I love, love, love your take on Ivankee and Mcninny. There are total airheads who are blonde and then there are very talented well spoken blondes who can easily carry their weight. Cindy McCain is the latter of course.

I'm fine with Pelosi as well. My bill's used to sneer at her when she was SOTH before and I'm sure gave out with horrid groans on seeing her put back for a second time. I clapped louder then their groans I can tell you.

Trump knows he is all but over, but I think he is likely watching lots of news and I think maybe his realizing that his absence was looked at in a way that was sort of cancelling him out, I think he felt the need top appear. He needed to reassure himself that he still mattered. Well ahem, sir -- that was wasted. Only his most hard core are hoping an asteroid hits and we can't get Joe Biden in. That chance it twice slim to absolutely and most likely quite impossible. Might has also thought that people would keep sending him funds if he appeared.

I worry about damages, but I'm so very relieved and Joe overcame Trump by millions of votes. Over 5 million actually so a double/double loss.

P.S. Forgot to say how much I always admired Jimmie and Rosalyn Carter.

I love Nancy Pelosi and hate what was just said about her by ddfair. A Baltimore native, she was known here as Nancy D'Alesandro, daughter of Baltimore mayor Tommy D'Alesandro. (I heard the name Tommy D'Alesandro growing up and loved it--I thought it was the most romantic hero's name I could imagine!)

Nancy's been such a powerhouse and force. I just went to her Wikipedia listing and it's a mile long as to her contributions and accomplishments.....

I love my city and am SO GLAD Trump's now counted as a LOSER by it! His son-in-law Jared is a slum lord here.

I'm not only proud of Nancy Pelosi, I'm proud of the man who was my Congressman (#7)-- Elijah Cummings. Cummings had a big part to play in Trump's impeachment and as head of the Oversight Committee I think steered the emoluments case against Trump before he passed away.

Trump verbally battered Baltimore. It's an old, troubled city and the last thing it needed was him spitting on it. If there ever was a rat afoot in the world--a BIG one--it's Trump. Doubt that even rats would find him tasty......

Now he gets to slink away and lick his wounds.....

I too have a thing about blondes now. I just look at them at think: white privilege. Not all deserve that but that is my initial reaction.

I also look up to Nancy Pelosi. She is awesome. What a powerhouse! I would be proud to be a "bitch" standing next to her too. And for tRump to bash ANY American city and make a big distinction on how he treats red vs blue cities/states makes me SO MAD. We are all Americans, and I'm glad that Joe has made that point, that he will be President to all of us.

Spookie, King Ricky just gets worse and worse. We must vote him out next time. I hope we get an excellent Dem candidate for Gov.

So glad that Jimmy Carter lived to see Georgia turn blue. Now if we can get the Dem Senators to win also!!

There has to be something done about Mitch. We cannot keep moving forward if he keeps stalling the bills, and they do not even reach the Senate floor for a vote. How can that be allowed?? It would be one thing if the Repubs out voted what we wanted, but at least the bill had a chance. To stall the bill, and the bill doesn't even get a chance is not democracy. Mitch is acting as dictator of the Senate.

Washington Post. This was from a 11/5/20 article so it is surely different now. Makes me wonder how many people still didn't vote. My county posted that 65% of the registered voters did vote, and seems like a lot of people still didn't vote in this very important election.

Part of Heather Cox Richardson's post of FB last night. That last paragraph,,,,,

This afternoon, Trump spoke in public for the first time since the election, speaking to the press in the White House Rose Garden about the promising new coronavirus vaccine. He said it would be available to the entire nation as soon as April, "with the exception for places like New York state," he said, where Governor Andrew Cuomo said he would want a panel of experts to examine any vaccine Trump tried to rush out before the election. Trump left the Rose Garden without taking questions.

As Trump continues to claim, against all evidence, that he won the election, he has refused to begin the process of transition to a Biden presidency. He will not share intelligence with Biden, or permit transition teams to begin getting Biden's people up to speed on the current situations in their departments. The man in charge of the Trump administration's effort to produce a coronavirus vaccine wants to brief Biden, but cannot get permission to. Yesterday, more than 150 former national security officials from both parties warned that Trump's refusal to begin the transition is a "serious risk to national security."

Today, Trump's second chief of staff (the current one, Mark Meadows, is his fourth), retired General John Kelly, called Trump's refusal "an increasing national security and health crisis." The downside of not briefing the new team "could be catastrophic to our people regardless of who they voted for." This "is not about the president or about Mr. Biden," he said. "It is about America and what is best for our people. Mr. Trump should order the transition process begin immediately. It is the right and moral thing to do."

Interestingly, in an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, former deputy director of the FBI Andrew McCabe suggested that Trump's refusal to share information might be about more than stubbornness. He noted that, while Trump has made motions toward releasing more information about the Russia investigation, it was incomprehensible that Trump would actually want that information released, because it contained information that "would risk casting the president in a very negative light." Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo caught the implications of McCabe's statement, suggesting that behind Trump's refusal to let Biden see intelligence reports was the fear that those reports might implicate members of the Trump administration in wrongdoing.
