Best wishes for a safe Thanksgiving, Sandy and everyone on this thread! Our son is coming in, too. He works from home and has been very careful. His girlfriend is opting to go to her parents for dinner. The airport numbers are incredibly frustrating! Our area hospitals are said to be getting many, many more cases and their concern is what happens when the medical personnel get sick and they don't have enough workers.
This article is a bit long but I found it interesting and insightful. The title is what caught my eye.
Right-Wing Social Media Finalizes Its Divorce From Reality
Fox News acknowledged Trump's loss. Facebook and Twitter cracked down on election lies. But true believers can get their misinformation elsewhere.

Seems the mayors across Florida have asked DeSantis to do SOMETHING about the surge here. But seems he’s taken dear leaders position and disappeared. Hmmmmm wonder why.

Ruth---Am so glad you had a good day and are out of quarantine. Hope your DH does OK, too. What a very powerful and strange virus this one is--no telling how an individual is going to react; runs the gamut from hardly any symptoms to bazillion; odd things it does to the body while it's "active" in it and after it's gone; sudden descent from feeling OK to near collapse.....very scary indeed!
We can't get a vaccine in us soon enough!
But one good thing: We at least won't have a monster in the White House. I know there's going to be lots to do to clean up after DT but at least he will be gone and we can all be bored out of our skulls by politics for a change instead of being driven deranged by it!

Haha! Trill, these are great. Hasn’t read or heard a true thing in six years...funny—yet scary possible! Melania hanging a dead badger for Christmas, LOL! She never embraced American traditions. It will be so refreshing to have Jill as 1st Lady, back to normalcy and true tradition.
Trump attempting to re-live his “glory days” by trying to take credit for the Dow. What a total slimy pig he is. It’s all about money to him while the entire U.S. way of life is upended by a virus he lied about and said was a hoax.

A nice read:
Biden stakes out his anti-Trump presidency
Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN
Joe Biden has already kept his first promise -- his approach to the presidency will be a top-to-bottom repudiation of the behavior, policies and obsessions of President Donald Trump.
The President-elect is building his administration on old-fashioned notions that facts matter, that commanders-in-chief must project stability, that Cabinet officials need experience and expertise, that a fractured nation is governable and that the world wants the US to lead.

Biden is first candidate in US history to cross 80M votes
Savannah Behrmann
USA TODAY
The nonpartisan Cook Political Report on Tuesday indicated that the Biden/Harris ticket had gained roughly 51% of the popular vote with 80,070,466 ballots, while Trump/Pence received 47.1 percent with 73,890,413.
Because some municipalities are still counting ballots, Biden's record-breaking win could continue to grow. For example, Maine just reported its military and overseas ballots, which Biden won by nearly 80%, and there are still outstanding ballots in New York and California.

Re: the above post, it says Biden won 80% of Maine’s military and overseas ballots. I’m curious as to how Biden did with the military overall because before the election, I heard both sides of it, that military people favored Biden and that military people favored Trump. I’d like to know how that all panned out.
Also, when they say “overseas” votes, who exactly does that refer to?

They're expats, Divine. Either living abroad for work, or by choice or in the military or foreign service.
My sister in law is one. She is a lighting designer working in Dubai. Before that she was in China. Whenever she's out of country for an election, she has an absentee ballot sent to her. As a California resident, there's never any issue with it.

I loved coming across this article:
Kamala Harris shares her family's favorite cornbread dressing recipe
"During difficult times I have always turned to cooking," she wrote.
Samantha Kubota Nov. 25, 2020, 12:41 AM EST
With Thanksgiving only a couple days away, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris decided to share her recipe for cornbread dressing.
"During difficult times I have always turned to cooking," she wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday with her recipe. "This year, I wanted to share one of my family's favorite Thanksgiving recipes with you."
Harris' recipe is notably Southern in nature. Traditionally, Southern-style dressing is made outside the turkey (hence "dressing" instead of "stuffing") and is often made with cornbread.
"I hope whenever you're able to make it in life, it brings you as much warmth as it has brought me — even when separated from those I love," Harris added.
To make the dressing, she begins by baking cornbread according to package instructions, then letting it cool and crumbling it. Then, she takes spicy pork sausage out of its casing, crumbles it and browns it in pan, removes it from the pan and sets it aside. Harris then sautés onions, apples and celery in the same pan in the remaining oil and combines that in a bowl with the sausage, cornbread crumbs, melted butter, a host of herbs and chicken broth. Finally, she dumps the mixture into a baking dish and bakes at 375 F for about 40 minutes.
In a May 2020 interview with Glamour, she said her love of cooking came from her mom.
"As a child, I remember hearing the pots and smelling the food, and kind of like someone in a trance, I would walk into the kitchen to see all this incredible stuff happening," she said. "My mother used to tell me, 'Kamala, you clearly like to eat good food. You better learn how to cook.'"
