I’m known far and wide among my family members for making excellent stuffing; I hosted the big Thanksgiving dinner with extended family for many years. I never made the cornbread and sausage kind and don’t think I’ve even tasted it, but Kamala’s recipe looks simple and sounds delicious, so at some point I hope to try making it.

Rocky, the tiny owl that was rescued from the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, takes flight

The tiny owl found in the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree took flight on Tuesday after being treated at a wildlife rehabilitation facility for several days.

The Ravensbeard Wildlife Center said on Tuesday that Rocky — short for Rockefeller — was cleared for take off at dusk by avian veterinarians and owl experts.

"Rocky's release was a success!" the center said in a Facebook post on Tuesday. "She is a tough little bird and we're happy to see her back in her natural habitat."

You will want to watch this. It’s the latest video from The LincolnProject and it tells of dangers in our midst.

Divine: Downright scary, but I do hope lots and lots of people are watching. Sort of clears up much about the R's letting Drumph do so much w/o nary a raised eyebrow. Really on board there. I do not wish the R's well at all. I fervently hope the party falls all the way down and has to go a different way -- with a name and an agenda that will be clear as to purpose. To that end -- I feel like a lot of that party should not be there at all. Like Cotton, Cruz, McConnell, and many others. I think that is not going to happen -- not so easy to rid ourselves of those types.

Here's hoping though that we are able to get enough done with Biden and all his great people that it will be VERY hard for the R's to gain anymore.

    Hello All;

I just want to come out of mostly lurking mode to let you all know that you all and this thread will be among the blessings I count at my (very small) Thanksgiving table tomorrow. It will be just hubby and me and my sister who has been a part of our bubble. But yeah, as I think Trill said, I am going to EAT!

And of course, the election results will be at the top of our list of things to be thankful for: we are doing a zoom call with family in the afternoon and I suspect they will all agree. Such a wonderful family I have.

Hope you all have a very happy, restful and safe Thanksgiving!

    Divine--Here's the Saw-whet......

Here's what the little guy had to say once back in the wild:

"Whew! That was a close one! A friend of mine said I was going to end up in Donald Trump's tree and I heard that Melania HATES Christmas!"

And Happy Thanksgiving to YOU, too, Ruth! I'm so thankful for you and for all the wonderful ladies here who've made the past four plus years survivable mentally and emotionally!

My faith in America has been restored and I am so thankful for the 80+ million Americans who voted for Joe Biden and are bringing to an end this truly horrendous episode. . . .

Ruth, I'm thankful you're definitely on the mend! (And for all of my sisters--and a brother or two--here on BCO).

Had Gordy & his g.f. Leslie over last night for outdoor (masked & distanced) drinks & dessert--he's working the 3pm-midnight shift tomorrow (his company is int'l and it's a holiday only in the U.S.) so Bob & I will dine alone. (BTW, nothing makes you feel more American than finding yourself in another country on Thanksgiving, as we did in London last year).

Of course, spending Passover in Beijing (as we did in 1994) is another thing entirely! And as to Christmas, even though we've been Chicagoans for 42 yrs, with 7 yrs. in Seattle before that, there's nothing like finding ourselves back in our original home town--NYC--at that time of year. Rockefeller Center tree on Christmas Eve, strolling the kiosks in Bryant Park, doing Christmas brunch at Tavern on the Green and following it up with a stroll to & ride on the Central Park carousel.

I’m going to say that Thanksgiving in Kabul (more than forty years ago) was quite strange. Peace Corps volunteers had no access to commissaries so Thanksgiving could be a challenging or creative opportunity depending on how one viewed it.. Turkey was not common but from Thanksgiving until New Years small flocks of turkeys would be driven through the streets. The turkey drivers would shout “Feel-morgh” and you could rush out of your house and choose your bird right there and then. Feel-morgh means elephant chicken 😂.

    HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL 🦃

The soul grows into lovely habits as easily as into ugly ones, and the moment a life begins to blossom into beautiful words and deeds, that moment a new standard of conduct is established, and your eager neighbors look to you for a continuous manifestation of the good cheer, the sympathy, the ready wit, the comradeship, or the inspiration, you once showed yourself capable of. Bear figs for a season or two, and the world outside the orchard is very unwilling you should bear thistles. -Kate Douglas Wiggin

As usual, all the memes and entries are so good this morning. I join with all in saying -- thank God and BCO for this thread. Having a checkered political family around me made life sometimes difficult and feeling so un-wieldy but all I had to do was come here and join in with all of you to set things right again. To feel caring, and most importantly be able to feel there could be light at the end of the tunnel of perseverance. Struggles were plenty and seeing the narcissistic news hog daily, sometimes many times a day would have I think caused deep and possibly lasting depression, but you all kept me sane and feeling there were better tomorrows waiting to be found.

Find them we did. God bless us all and God bless America and God Bless and keep Pres. Elect Joe Biden. We now await your day -- when we are totally free to call you President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I have read that this could be overturned by Judge Sullivan because it is so transparently corrupt. Likely the main reason why something of that ilk would tale place. Be interesting to see what Sullivan might do.
