Sitting here thinking as I sometimes do. Seems today that most things have been anti-Trump for the most part. Judge ruled again for E. Jean Carroll against Trump — no need to re-prove what the first jury found for her. It is now just down to how much more money she will be awarded.

How that works out in the end who knows since he has a habit of just not paying up.

Also, Fani Willis won in court today for not having separate trials — and whether that remains to hold for everyone I'm not sure, but it does set something of a precedent. Some of those people I think did have separate parts, but the end result of it all was to be the same.

Trump delay tactics got knocked down in another ruling.

So, what I was thinking about mainly was you would have to be nuts to withstand all the LOSSES the Loon is going through as he has enjoyed a lifetime of freedom from prosecution no matter how much it may have been deserved. How nice it was I'm sure for him to come and go and interact w/o having to concern himself that he would seriously be bothered. I guess if you were to ask Michael Cohen he might say that the Loon was able to hire people to be 'bothered' for him.

Fate or karma (whatever term one gives it) doesn't really play favorites although in the Loon's case for a long time it seemed possible. The part of him that craves recognition really dreamed up the very thing almost guaranteed to keep him in the spotlight way too long. Of course, idiot that he is, he didn't actually think he'd win election (and but for other than Putin's major, major help) and really didn't want it, he wouldn't have. He was dying on the vine and couldn't stand it though — to come that far and still be a nobody. Maybe that is a great lesson in be careful what you wish for.

I'm grateful that whether he makes it to jail (certainly hope so) or not that he is at least ruined and actually washed up. He is also facing many who are going to try to keep him off the ballot in several states. Between that and trials. he has no time to run for any office and his mentality sounds totally shot for the most part. He is going to have some long days and sleepless nights and that is when he is going to lose control. No one to cover for him and people giving him up all the time. Not a life to envy but one that has become as sorry and deplorable as it always was, and the Loon will not be able to hire anyone to take it off his shoulders.

Great memes for today and I agree with you that these allow us to escape some of the bullshit being flung daily by the repugnicans. I know this lessens my stress level.

Seems the loon wants to testify in GA and I am sure his lawyers are not in favor of this because they know that he only opens his mouth to change feet and is his own worst enemy. He is absolutely having seizures about Willis because she is impervious to his barbs and so are her support team. I would love to meet her and shake her hand for being able to ignore his slings and arrows.

She is one hell of a woman and a prosecutor. If I were him, I would be very afraid not only of her prowess, the amount of evidence she has gathered, the large number of witnesses and also be afraid of the 18 others under indictment that will now try to reduce their potential sentences.

Have people read the book Caste: The origins of our discontent By Isabel Wilkerson ? it is a fascinating book and one of the conclusions she comes to is that all some people have to make them "valuable" is their white skin- and that was just a luck of birth- they didn't earn it, it doesn't make them better than anyone- many cling to the white skin so strongly since they have no other talents to recommend them.

The quote someone put in her from LBJ also applies.

'Terrific quote for the government to use': Internet slams Trump saying he can do 'whatever I want'

    Story by Gideon Rubin •1h

Donald Trump during an interview with a conservative radio host Wednesday said he didn’t break the law in the classified documents case because he’s “allowed to do whatever I want,” and his remarks have created a stir on social media.

Trump was responding a question from Hugh Hewitt about whether any of the rival Republican presidential candidates would make a suitable vice president when he took a detour to rant about the classified documents case.

“Like the records case, I come under the Presidential Records Act. I’m allowed to do it. Biden’s not allowed to do it, because he wasn’t president. It’s a special act that was passed in great detail in 1977, in tremendous detail. It tells you everything you’re allowed to do, and it’s not criminal. It has nothing to do with the criminal. It’s not a criminal act,” Trump said.

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti said Trump’s comments are likely to become part of special counsel Jack Smith’s case against the former president.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Jack Smith uses this statement against Trump at trial. Trump thinks he is ‘allowed to do whatever I want,” Mariotti said.

“The jury will receive instructions from the judge indicating that the law indicates otherwise.”

Conservative attorney and Trump critic George Conway responded to Mariotti, saying the quote is likely to be used a sentencing, as well.

Conway separately added that, "This will make a terrific quote for the Government to use in the first paragraph of its sentencing memorandum."

Writer Jason Karsh said: “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do whatever you want.”

Said radio host Joe Cunningham: “NARRATOR: He was not, in fact, allowed to do whatever he wanted.”

“We literally fought a war with Britain to be free of government that worked this way,” social media user Casey Mattox said

Sure hope a bunch of weird stuff doesn't show up in this post.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.    -Marianne Williamson

Whoops!! The Proud Boys turned down plea deals that would have cut their prison sentences in half, according to court docs. Federal prosecutors offered shorter sentences to Proud Boys members Enrique Tarrio, Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Dominic Pezzola if they agreed to plead guilty to some of the charges they faced, but each chose to take their cases to trial. They were all ultimately convicted and sentenced to much lengthier prison terms. Had Tarrio taken the deal, he would have served 9 to 11 years in prison, but a judge imposed a 22-year term after his conviction. What are your thoughts?

Seems to me I read somewhere that some of these guys still seem to think the Loon will get elected again and pardon them. My view is that I think all of you and maybe him as well are going to be wishing there was a pardon to be had.

Love the quote by Audrey Hepburn who knew what suffering was during WWII. Her work with UNICEF was admirable.

The racist incident was not mentioned by a soul the next day at the pool. Dh and I did our normal thing of floating around in the water. Wasn’t letting racist woman ruin our summer enjoyment. She showed up but seemed subdued. I think those who heard and saw the incident the day before were slightly in shock as the atmosphere there throughout the summer is extremely laid back and congenial, making racist woman’s outburst an anomaly.

Then yesterday was the last day of pool season, celebrated with a covered dish picnic. It was very well attended and incredibly nice. We’re all so appreciative to have such a nice facility. Again, racist woman was there but I really think in this case, my socializing and having a pleasant time with everyone made a statement that there’s no room for her ugliness. Also, one of the young black lifeguards showed up to the picnic and it seemed to drive home the point how completely out of line she was.

Something else I’m very appreciative of is all of you on this thread; your support, your views, your insights! Thank you!!!!!

Try saying this silently to everyone and everything you see for thirty days and see what happens to your own soul: “I wish you happiness now and whatever will bring happiness to you in the future.” If we said it to the sky, we would have to stop polluting; if we said it when we see the ponds and lakes and streams, we would have to stop using them as garbage dumps and sewers; if we said it to small children we would have to stop abusing them, even in the name of training; if we said it to people, we would have to stop stoking the fires of enmity around us. Beauty and human warmth would take root in us like a clear, hot June day. We would change.   -Joan Chittister

Divine, we appreciate you here and find your entries and comments great to read. Almost all views are acceptable here because our focus is reason and acceptability. When you start out wanting things to be acceptable and reasonable its easy to enjoy a lot of ideas.

I do think many people who behave as that lady did know inside somewhere that they are sitting on the fringe and hope it not to be so. For that reason, I think some weird thing tends to roil them inside and they lose it and make a scene as she did. Hopefully, she may have reviewed her actions and those of others around her later on and overnight and realized she went way too far. Whether it could help her to ultimately soften her viewpoint altogether who knows, but it sure would be nice.

Good for you going back for the last day and having the ability to relate so well that an ugly incident could be pushed all the way out and pure enjoyment and conviviality with all take its place. You provided an excellent example of handling an ugly moment in time in a peaceful way which allowed everyone to have a great last pool day for the year. So much easier to dwell on the positive and feel thankful for the people who make positive happen.

Must be hard to be Gym Jordan — and even worse when you have no choice. I'd hate to be bested by a woman who is not only a different race, but obviously much smarter. He will go on though.

Another Reps. idiot who says he will go to jail easily and be fine with it for the Loon. Totally nuts and looking for Loon help. Hint: You're on your own. The Loon has way too many problems to get into yours. Enjoy your jail time then, homefry.
