Divine, hope they can get everything straightened out and you will be on the path to healing ASAP.

I, too have mixed feelings about Suzanne Somers. A great business woman and advocate for equal pay for equal work. IMO, dangerous in her health advice. When I was trying to decide whether or not to do the recommended chemo, I read her book She had refused chemo and some of her arguments made sense until I read what she was doing instead; literally handfuls of supplements, injections of who knows what, and coffee enemas. Yikes! It put me back on the standard-of-care treatment path, for sure!

CALL TO ACTION. Call your US Representative’s office - even if they are
Republican - and tell them you are vehemently opposed to Jim Jordan
    being Speaker of the House.

divine - sorry to hear you’re in the hospital. I hope you feel better. Take care.

Illinois - enjoying the memes! Keep ‘em coming.

If you get HBO, there a show called The Insurrectionist Next Door. It’s by Alexandra Pelosi. Very interesting documentary. Some of the people she interviews are definitely still in the cult.

Republicans Are In Trouble As Trump Has Killed 2024 Excitement

Republicans are stunned that Trump has effectively killed enthusiasm for the 2024 presidential race in the early states.

Politico reported on the decline in grassroots retail politics in the 2024 Republican presidential campaign:

The decline of retail in 2024 is the product of several factors, all of them accelerated by Trump. First, rival candidates waited for months to see if the former president would run and then, once he did, if he would implode on his own. When they eventually did get in the race, they were confronted by a tightened calendar, reducing their time on the trail.

Meanwhile, to qualify for a summer debate, lower-polling rivals were forced to focus more heavily on national TV appearances, social media and small-dollar fundraising to meet polling and donor thresholds.

There are other factors. The Republican presidential field is a complete dud. Trump has distanced himself from the rest of the field by not doing debates and there is zero enthusiasm for any of the other Republicans who are running for the party’s nomination, but as Politico noted, the non-Trump GOP candidates are not taking advantage of Trump’s refusal to campaign.

The primary campaign is where the foundations of grassroots get-out-the-vote operations are put into place. Trump’s unwillingness to invest in the grassroots in 2020 cost his party in that election, and the situation could be even more dire for Republicans in 2024.

President Biden is already grassroots organizing swing states, while Republicans aren’t doing the same.

A third round of Trump doesn’t have Republicans excited. However, Donald Trump has shown himself to be a terrific motivator for Democratic turnout, as many Democrats would walk on fire to get to the polls if it meant keeping Donald Trump from returning to the White House.

Republicans have a problem, and the lack of excitement and grassroots motivation are factors that are worth watching as we head into 2024.

I called my representative, who voted for Jordan today and left a semi-hysterial message and texted my like-minded friends the number

Life's lessons come through failures probably more than successes. Through our failures we learn humility. We learn to look to others for help and guidance. We learn how to let others fail, too. We fail because we are human. When we no longer fear failure, we are free to attempt greater feats. We dare to learn more, and life is fuller for it--not just our own lives, but the lives that we touch. unattributed

ruthbru - our representative still thinks trump won the election. He voted for gym on the 2nd ballot, but not the 1st. He’s such a dolt.

Keep calling him, cardplayer. It's us who have idiot Republican 'Representatives' who need to be manning the phones! Tell his office you prefer the person who is second in line to the presidency be someone who actually believes in the Constitution; votes to certify elections, doesn't give thumbs up the inserectionists, doesn't conspire with a twice impeached, indicted criminal, and doesn't ignore supenas. There's got to be at least one Republican who fits that description!

We were slated for our NLRB hearing on October 24. That was when we were supposed to go before a judge, present our cases, and get a decision on what our franchisor needed to do to get in right with the Feds. This would cover our illegal terminations and backpay.

But we recently got word that our case has been postponed to …. February 13, 2024. 😡

There were two reasons. First, a much bigger case got moved to 10/25, and our lawyer needed the 24th to prepare. Also, at the end of September Dan let the lease expire and closed down the studio. If a business owner closes a unionized shop, it could be legal or illegal depending on the circumstances. But if a union shop is closed to intimidate other locations against unionizing, that is considered retaliation and illegal union busting. So the second reason our case got delayed was to give our lawyer time to collect evidence showing that the shutdown was retaliatory and an intimidation tactic.

The top of my brain understands why they put us back four months, but it's so stressful. We were looking forward to finally getting some closure and maybe some justice. Now we have to carry this burden of uncertainty again. It's exhausting! We began all this in May of 2022. It will be almost two years until we get a court-ordered decision, and that's if he doesn't try to appeal. 😓😭

Do not abandon trust when your ego thinks things should be different than they are. It is better to embrace trust when darkness is present, knowing that light will follow. Begin to look for the lesson in darkness rather than cursing it. Trust allows you simply to observe the dark and unhappy times rather than identifying totally with those aspects of your life.   -Wayne Dyer

Ruth had someone told me a short few yrs.. ago where we would be right now I likely would have grinned or even giggled. Even now it is hard to believe what is and did try to pass for sanity the last few yrs. with the Reps. party.

We can only hope that we can maintain during the next elections. Still, I do fear we will have some Trumpism hanging around along with some crazies. I don't want them to just fade back into the woodwork but gone from the government and rational (even if I don't agree with their viewpoint much) people in their place. I can live with disagreements, but insanity is hard to face on a daily/yearly basis.
