Speaking to a crowd of Republicans, Trump told them that they "gotta get out there and watch those voters," a command which sounds an awful lot like he wants them to engage in voter intimidation against Biden supporters.
"You don’t have to vote, don’t worry about voting. The voting, we got plenty of votes," he said.
The head-scratching directive, which is likely to damage his performance at ballot box, has Republican operatives scrambling.
It's unclear why Trump would ever tell his voters not to vote. Turnout is the ultimate goal of all political campaigns.
The best explanation is that this is just another example of the ex-president's ongoing cognitive decline. Trump appears to have less and less control over the words coming out of his mouth.
