Swollen lymph nodes and the covid vaccination

Options

I just posted this over in the "Not diagnosed but worried" forum but I thought I would post it here too.

New mammogram guidelines issued for people who get vaccinated

The covid vaccination (and probably others) can cause swollen lymph nodes. This is a normal reaction to the vaccination and can indicate that it is working but I know suddenly feeling a lump under your arm can be alarming for someone with a history of breast cancer, and the swollen lymph nodes can also result in callbacks on imaging as the swollen lymph nodes may be indistinguishable on mammograms from malignant lymph nodes.

The new guidelines recommend having mammograms before your vaccination or waiting 6 to 8 weeks after the vaccination.

I think if you have a history of breast cancer though you should bring any new lumps to the attention of your doctor.
