I get to work at home for at least 3 more months. This online option was always a go to. Not sure what happens on here. I share on the Mayo Clinic about bc.org and had a few people say they have come here to find experience, strength and hope.

I have usually gone to "Active topics" if I want to read stories of people's journeys so far. My BMT has me FINALLY walking 10, 000 steps every single day. Finally. I can keep this morning up even when i return to work. Get up early and get outside.

In March i went to see the Occupational Therapist as my left arm was so painful to move from my wrist up. I could not lift anything on that side. Probably 6 months before i went to see "Becca". She went through all the moves i needed to do and why they needed to be done. She also noted my shoulders are rounding forward!! Oh no i said. She agreed I can revisit once I am through my 100 days of my BMT. Until then, she said just stretch was much as you can. Honestly, I am not sure when it stopped hurting, but staying at my caregiver's home for 70 days got me outside walking every day for alone time. That was the beginning.

No zoom this week or probably Friday. That is finally my 1st colonoscopy, so no zoom for me. Thursday is my 6-month BMB. A week of modesty going out the window, all in the interests of body health!! Cheers to October 1st and some good times!!

I love that Jodi posted the photos. We just missed each other last week when I had business in Vegas. I’m just starting a project there and will have an excuse to return soon enough. Maybe us gals should plan a get together at an air-b-n-b or one of the hotels. Special groups can often negotiate special rates. I just came back from a reunion in Nashville and like weddings, we always get blocks of rooms at reduced rates and a suite for our group to hangout together.

I’m not a big gambler, but Cirque du Soleil shows are amazing and the new Sphere has the U2 concert movie tickets for a little over $100. I hear it’s amazing.

    It’s an idea!

Thanks Jodi! See you again soon!

jakeinva it’s one of those hobbies that takes a lot of concentration. Quilting gets me out of my head and relieves stress. It’s a good way to exercise my creative side and get away from thinking about work and life and other things. I also get to meet some pretty amazing people on retreats. You’d be amazed at the wide variety of people who quilt. It’s a bit like our group, ladies from all walks of life with one thing in common.

    🤔

    Cheers!

question: has anyone had a full body manual lymphatic drainage massage as opposed to the typical MLD from a physical therapy clinic?
My recent quilt retreat brought in a massage therapist who was certified in MLD and I was surprised to learn that she was going to be working on the full body. Holy cow! (That’s for you Saiba) My arm felt wonderful for 2 days afterward. It usually swells up almost immediately. I was almost swell-free for 2 days without using the pneumatic pump or my compression glove and sleeve.

    Anyone else had that experience?

Interesting procedure. No fun zone for me. I did have my 2nd set of vaccines today. Polio and 0the 2nd hepatitis. Diphtheria and those other childhood one's last month.

Our journeys differ, but it is good to share what is going on. Who knows who it may help.

Katg, I was talking with Sylvia H just the other day and we wondered how you were doing. It never occurred to me that you would have to go through all the vaccines again after the transplant. Ugh!

Would love to see you in group. Do you prefer Mondays or Fridays? You are so amazing, funny, and tough.

I missed the email today that the group was meeting. As for my vaccines, I have gotten at least 8. The kid vaccines, hepatitis and a polio. I know some need a second dose. I also know i do not ask which ones before, I just request the paper on what they are. Overall, I am blessed to say that i have had no real side effects. Every day i walk at least 12,000 steps, but usually more. Breast cancer had me lose some weight that i mostly kept off. This transplant had me lose a bit more and guided me to weight watchers. I have been paying for WW for years. This is the first time I have followed it and exercised regularly for nearly 5 months.

I did go to my newish medical oncologist and she had me get a Dexa scan. My 3rd. My osteopenia remains. It may have gotten a bit worse. I will see that Dr on the 22nd. Likely getting a Zometa infusion. Then i see the hematology peeps, blood test and more vaccines.

I hope I do not miss the next Monday one.

I hope you two are doing well. I miss hearing from all of you. ❤️

    katg,

It was so great to see you tonight. If you do get the Zometa, be sure to ask about taking care of your teeth to avoid the jaw issues. I know I harp on this too much because I watched my Nana suffer with dead-jaw and losing all her teeth because she wasn’t warned and it’s my nightmare that I will suffer the same fate. That why I’m so happy to be doing my last Zometa next week.

I’m hoping to lose weight on the Mounjaro but it’s really to balance out my blood glucose. I’ve always been bad about not eating enough calories and being in starvation mode. The Mounjaro just makes that worse. I get nauseous and drink too many cokes instead of eating. So my goal is to get back to drinking enough water and getting 90grams of protein a day. Now that the weather is cooler, I plan to start walking again. Your story is inspiring. I’ll try to get to 12,000 steps a day by the end of December so hold me accountable!

Have a fabulous Thanksgiving and I hope to see you again soon!

I hope the mounjaro works for you. Of course, eating is necessary, so i hope all that works. Soda coke is not so good though, so i hope you are able to begin the half your body weight in water. I drink a few sodas now and them, and bubble type drinks i have now and then.

I do get a Zometa infusion tomorrow. I will ask the doctor prescribing, the nurse infusing them my hematology team i see later. My younger sister read about the jaw side effects. My dentist had said if i need major repair that is where some issue come up. Slow healing is the culprit.

Start walking a bit every day. Build on it. We support one another. 😊

    Hi ladies’

Does anyone do Nordic Pole Walking? I’ve been reading that it works 90% of muscles and can decrease arm lymphatic swelling. A study in 2014 found that it significantly reduced after 8 weeks of 3-5 times a week at 30-60 minutes per session.
