Still afraid after punch biopsy
Hi again everyone. I made a post here back May about IBC concerns. Well, I saw a breast specialist and had a punch biopsy done and it came back as chronic inflammation with no evidence of malignancy. I should feel better but I don't. Im still anxious. I can't help but wonder.. what if the test were wrong? What if they missed something? What if I'm having symptoms now that I wasn't having back then? There’s a patch of my areola that becomes darker than the rest when I touch it. It also "thickens" and the pores become very visible. It looks like peau d'orange to me but my doctor made no mention of it, nor did he put it in his notes. I realize this is likely anxiety messing with my head, but I'm really scared. I'm not having any classic symptoms other than that "thickening". It looks so different frommy left areola. Im terrified they missed something and I'm not sure what to do next. Can anybody share anything that can help me?

Perhaps you might consider therapy to help with your health anxiety. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I know you’re right but anxiety completely overshadows my ability to reason.

Jazzing--can you get a second opinion from a breast specialist? I don't want to cause you further alarm, but I had 2 punch biopsies that showed "no evidence of carcinoma" but I did have IBC. If you feel that something isn't right, seek another opinion. Sometimes we have to go with our gut feelings. My best to you; hopefully your first doctor was right!

jazzing I know you said back in May you had seen 2 or 3 different doctors and I believe all them were saying the same thing that there didn’t seem to be anything concerning.I think I remember that you were trying to find a therapist or a similar professional to help you deal with your anxiety. I am wondering if you have been able to start seeing someone because I feel like that might help you process the information you have been getting from all these doctors saying similar things and be more confident if you decide to see another doctor that it’s not just anxiety causing you to do so. Otherwise you might start second guessing yourself when you are talking to doctors. It’s important to take care of both your physical and mental health.
