hey all, i just had a new biopsy on my left breast now because of microcalcifications. the found a couple benign findings and "flat focal atypia". i cant find any results for this directly, just for "flat epithelial atypia". does anyone have any idea? i dont think its considered malignant, but willthey typically want to remove it? any of you gals wisdom and knowledge would be appreciated

Hi minarchist, Focal means in a limited area so your assumption that it is flat epithelial atypia is correct. It is usually benign but rarely can have some malignant cells. An excisional biopsy is usually done just to make sure. Hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about!
