What does this mean? What to expect. BI-RADS 5

LEFT BREAST MAMMOGRAM

At the site of the palpable lump at around 11:00 4 cm from the nipple is a 

spiculated irregular mass containing pleomorphic calcifications. No 

additional abnormality identified.

 

LEFT BREAST ULTRASOUND:

Ultrasound of the entire left breast was performed and demonstrates an 

antiparallel hypoechoic mass at the site of the palpable lump at 11:00 4 

cm. It measures 12 x 14 x 11 mm. A small intramammary lymph node is noted 

at 3:00 6 cm from the nipple. At 3:00 7 cm from the nipple is a small 

hypoechoic mass measuring 2 mm, surrounded by echogenic tissue.

    A bi-rads 5 indicates "the likelihood that it’s cancer is greater than or equal to 95%". But that's not 100% and they've been wrong many, many times. So in saying that, hope for the best. As far as preparation for the worst, just know that even if it is the worst, it more than likely won't be as bad as you fear. Breast cancer is very treatable now and has great success rates. But I wouldn't advise doing a ton of research because you're just going to scare yourself. Instead move the diagnostic appointments forward as fast as possible so that you know what you're dealing with and then can start dealing with it if need be. Once you know things for sure, the stress level goes down. It seems counterintuitive but that's the way it works.

    Thanks for your response. Just had a biopsy a few days ago - it was way easier than I expected. Just waiting on results.

    Tengo birad 5 en eco y mamo, me hice la biopsia hace dos semas y no me dan resultados, no se si así demoran siempre o si debería ir a otro lado a rehacermelo. T
