PALB2
I’m only 33 and I tested positive for 4 different mutations. One of them was PALB2. My mother and her mother both had and past away from breast cancer. I fell like my dr. Isn’t very concerned about it being positive, but I am.
what are some steps other then annual mammograms that I can take to prevent the cancer from coming.

I have the PALB2 mutation and I have a breast MRI and a mammogram rotating every 6 months. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 49 and had a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation. I am doing well 13 years after my diagnosis. PALB2 can also put you at higher risk for ovarian and pancreatic cancers. I spoke with a genetic counselor who assessed my risk based on my family history. I had my ovaries removed but am not doing any screening for pancreatic cancer since none has been noted in my family history.

Thank you for your knowledge. I really wasn’t comfortable with them telling me just annually mammograms, But if I rotate the MRI and mammogram every six months I’m okay with that. Can I ask, who did you use for a genetic counselor? I’ve been lookin into that as well.
still doing a lot of research my genetic test come back positive for MSH2, PMS2, MRE11, and PALB2.

I had my genetic testing performed at a local hospital and they had genetic counselors on staff that discussed the results with me.
