Invasive lobular carcinoma
Hi there . I was diagnosed with ilc, had lumpectomy of right breast stated barely stage 1. Treatment: tested one of 2, it’s at 25 which means radiation yet sending back other sample to get tested because over 25 would be to do chemo , then radiation . Stated stats : with chemo 1% of returning , without 12% of returning I thought they said in 9 years . Also stating will need to do hormone treatment ( pill ) , not herr yet estrogen positive. I’m still learning so hoping my description is correct ! My thought is I’m good w 12% stat at age of 59 years of age yet wanted to ask group ? I will press my oncologist more though for help regarding ! Thoughts and thank you !

I hate to be a downer here. My sister had stage 1 a or b ILC. She opted for a double mastectomy and reconstruction. They said 7% chance of recurrence. She was in her mid-50s. 6 years later, stage 4 MBC. The cancer was very resistant to chemo, with a new regimen every few weeks. She may have been an outlying in terms of how it came back so consider getting a 2nd and/or 3rd opinion if necessary.

@beckywilson2024, we're so sorry to hear about your sister’s experience. Seeking a second opinion can be incredibly valuable, especially when making such important decisions. If you're interested, here is an article from our main site about getting one:
Good luck, and please, come back to let us know how you both are doing.
