Imaging Tests for Lobular Breast Cancer Nov 9, 2023 Maxine Jochelson, MD, explains the imaging tests for lobular breast cancer, as well as why lobular disease is harder to see on mammograms. Lobular breast cancer is cancer that starts in the lobules, the glands in the breast that produce milk. Lobular breast cancer is the…
Hi, I am 64 was diagnosed in April 2026 with Stage 1 Invasive Lobular, ER+, PR-, HER2-, clear lymph node, Oncotype score of 22. I chose a bilateral mastectomy and it was not as bad as I thought it might be. I do not need radiation nor chemo, my oncologist is recommending I take Anastrozole for 5 years. However, I have…
Hello ILC sisters. I am 66. I was high risk after an ALH was found and went on Tamoxifen which didn’t prevent the ILC from invading my right breast. Clean mammogram in Feb then a needle biopsy in May after my yearly breast MRI came up positive for ILC. Unfortunately, I also had 6 nodes positive, 4 with macro metastases…
Hi everyone, I am new to the group and recently received my biopsy results. I have been diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). My markers came back ER+, PR+, and HER2-. I don’t know my stage yet, as I am currently waiting for the call to schedule my initial consultations with a medical oncologist and a breast…
Hi Has anyone else with ILC tried hormone therapy before surgery? After many months I finally have a positive response. Originally on tamoxifen but had tumor growth so switched to Lupron and letrozole. Took 4 months but my entire cancer, the main tumor plus its satellites have gone from 6.8cm to 4.4cm. So grateful and now…

Due to the nature of this disease I…
Hi, I learned on April 12th that both biopsies taken from my left breast on March 26th have ILC. The MRI showed at least three more (Stage 1a). They are all very small, but given there are now at least five, the surgeon's recommendation is unilateral mastectomy. I am about 95% certain I'd like to just go for the bilateral,…
I’m 73 and was recently diagnosed with ILC. I had a lumpectomy along with 4 sentinel nodes; 2 of which were positive. I see my surgeon next week and will be starting 4 weeks of radiation followed by an estrogen blocker along with a second drug. I would like to connect to others with a similar diagnosis.
Hi. I have a scan tomorrow to see if my cancer has shrunk. Since I'm ER/PR+ with a low oncotype I've been doing endocrine therapy. Tamoxifen did not work and it grew 2mm. Switched to ovarian suppression therapy with letrozole. If this hasn't helped I think it's straight to surgery. My MO said there's a low chance chemo…
