Late developed change

Hi there, I had a double mastecomy & diepflap reconstruction in April 2021. I didn't have clean margins in my right breast. I did however have chemo and radiation afterwards. I had IDC stage 3 in both breasts, left side 6/13 and right side 5/11 positive lymphnodes at the age of 38.

I have this roundish slightly darker than my normal skintone thickening area on my right breast. It feels squishy and shallow (in my skin). Just concerned that this could be mets to the skin.

Did anyone have something similar and what was it? I just find it strange to have changes to the skin more than 3 years after surgery. It has been there for about 3 months now and seems to have increased in size a little bit.

The only way to know for sure is to call your oncologist and have it looked at. It is probably nothing but considering your history it needs to be checked out.

I agree with kaynotrealname. The only way to be certain is to have it looked at by your Oncologist. But it does sound similar to some fat necrosis I had after my DIEP flap. I'm hoping that's all it is.

Hi all, breast surgeon did a skin biopsy, because my previous diagnosis was quite aggresive. She says it is definitely skin thickening, but it could be from anything. The piece she cut out doesn't look suspicious to her. Tomorrow is a public holiday so I will probably get a call from her Monday confirming.

Hi all. Pathologists did extra stains on my biopsy. Apparently they were intrigued, but could find no cancer. Praise God
