Breast cell line

Hi, I keep reading studies online that refere to "brest cell lines", for example:

MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-468, MCF-7, and T-47D

I can't understand what that really mean...if they actually matter, how do i know what cell line i have, if it is even important to know for the therapy choice.

Do anybody know what I'm talking about amd know something more?

Thank you!

Breast cell lines are commercially available cultures of cancerous cells used in labs by researchers. They get mentioned in papers along with statistical programs used in full disclosure of the research methods employed.

Don't quote me, but my understanding after my own reading is that MDA-MB-231 is for triple negative and MCF-7 is for ER/PR+HR-. I don't know about the other one. Again, this has been my best guess, and I have no sources to cite, just a lot of reading like you're doing.
