Not Sharing Genetic Risk

Hello I am new here,

Our 45-year-old daughter died on May 14th of this year from triple negative breast cancer that metastasized to her brain and though a tumor was removed, it came back immediately and killed her. Unfortunately, family members knew back in 2020 that she should be tested for the RAD51D variant that had been proven to run in her father's side of the family (several aunts had died from cancer and genetic testing was suggested) . My ex husband died in 2016. They chose to withhold the information because our daughter was estranged from them. Her father's family knew where I was, they knew where she was, her father's brother adopted one of my daughter's children years ago.

The more I learn about the facts, The more I am positive I have a case for precedent-setting Wrongful death due to not sharing information that would have saved her from this early death. I have since discovered that this problem of not sharing vital information has occurred in families for years.

They could have sent an anonymous letter suggesting strongly that she be tested because her Paternal family members had tested positive for the variant.

Hi @cheyenneaja, we are so sorry to hear of the sad circumstances that have led you to our community forums. While we are unable to provide legal or medical instructions / advice, we do hope you can resolve the communication concerns you have with your daughter's paternal family, and hope that you are able to find some closure.
