X-ray lung nodule
Hello everyone just checking in after a long time. Did anyone have this issue. I had cold in July and I ordered an x ray. Cough almost gone and I thought to get the X-ray still and they found “ovoid nodule projecting over the right midlung zone 2 cm new from prior”. Not sure if it means a new one 2 cm or 2 c/m from the prior that was not of any concern in 2020 about 4mm. Just getting so worried:(

Hi @flo80, You should ask the doctor who ordered the x-ray to get clarification from the radiologist. Was a lateral view x-ray also done? A 2 cm nodule showed up on a portable x-ray done when I was in the ER. The radiologist ordered another x-ray with both front and lateral views to rule out lung and breast cancer. The view from the side showed the lesion was costochondral cartilage calcification, nothing to worry about.
I do have lung nodules which are being followed for growth by CT scans. My pulmonologist thinks they are probably caused by pulmonary fibrosis which I unfortunately developed after radiation. Some nodules are malignant but most are benign, caused by inflammation or infection. If you are concerned you could ask your doctor about a chest CT which is the best imaging modality for this. I hope it turns out to be nothing concerning.
