What to expect on Gemzar?
Hi everyone! I had my first dose of Doxil last week and had an immediate anaphylaxis reation. My Oncologist said we can rechallenge the Doxil after premedicating with steroids but I am too afraid. I will be starting on Gemzar next week. I cannot find any recent postings about this drug. My Oncologist said other than flu-like symptoms and decrease in platelets (I have had several drugs that has caused this) he thinks the drug is overall pretty well tolerated. I appreciate any feedback that you can offer.

@kassjanine Ugh so sorry you had a severe reaction, that stinks! I had a bad reaction to Taxotere and like you we didn't rechallenge it.
I did have Gemzar and I didn't feel too bad. The one thing that I had was a very high elevation of my ALT and AST liver numbers. This happened after a couple treatments and we then reduced my dosage and skipped a dose. Happy to say my liver did recover from it and labs went back to normal in a couple weeks. As you know we all react differently and I hope Gemzar is good to you!
