Stage 4 with peritoneal carcinamatosis (sp)

After 14 years my cancer came back with a vengeance. I didn't want chemo again but they convinced me to try abema and an aromatase inhibitor. It's not too bad so far.

My biggest problem is that I live with a narcissist and I'm tired of fighting for my needs or even my wants. They say this regimen could give me 2-5 years. I want to enjoy whatever I have left.

@grandmabubba, Sorry to hear of your unfortunate news. Without knowing the details of your cancer type and where it's located, it's hard to say too much. But, assuming your cancer is hormone receptor positive then the average survival time for someone on a CDK4/6 inhibitor and AI is around 5 years at present. So, by definition, about 50% of patients live less than that and 50% live longer. The good news is that new treatments are hitting the market all the time now which extend the survival rates more and more. Just in the 18 months since my wife's diagnosis 2 new drugs for HR+ MBC were approved (Truqap and Oserdu) and Enhurtu was approved to treat HER2-Low patients. There are many more in the works and increasingly the side effects are not nearly as harsh as the typical chemo drugs of old. So, on the cancer side, while this isn't the best news, compared to 14 years ago it's a much better time to receive it than then.

As for your home situation, I'm afraid I can't offer much help. I don't blame you for wanting to enjoy whatever amount of time you have left. I think that's probably true of everyone; whether they've received such a grim diagnosis or not. The need is just more urgent in your case. Sorry you find yourself in this new club.
