Developing Asymmetry

I have a 3 week wait until my breast MRI and feeling nervous after mammogram showed developing asymmetry with dense breast tissue and ultrasound showed no sonographic correlate. I feel a definite mass on that side so I am confused that ultrasound showed nothing. I’ve also had once instance of bleeding from that nipple.

Hi @elwingr4 , I'm sorry that you have the stress of waiting for an MRI. Unfortunately all forms of imaging are not completely accurate so contradictory results do occur. The only way that breast cancer can be diagnosed is by a biopsy; the doctors will use the results of all three scans to decide if one is needed. Three weeks sounds like a long time but breast cancer is not an emergency like a heart attack so that time frame is pretty usual. Try to keep busy to lessen the worry. Hopefully you will end out with a benign result. All the best.

Hope this is nothing serious. Keep in mind that most breast changes are not related to cancer. You may want to check out this link to information about Common Imaging Questions.
