I may have breast cancer
47 y o found lump right breast size of a tennis ball 11/04/24. Buy 11/06/24 sore hurts to wear a bra, bruised properly from always checking it. Extreme fatigue x1 month, black under eyes. I don't have a PCP or Gyn. Or good insurance . Was so hard to find someone to see me with out having to see a Gyn/PCP referral. Finally found someone. No telling the cost. They will get back with me. If I do have cancer I can not afford treatment or have any family or friends to help me. I would need to find homes for my 2 cats. Sell items and my house. See about cremation. But try keeping up energy working full time at the same time as a medical assistant. And hope employer will put up with me. Totally lost and overwhelmed. But trying to be positive and not over thing until appt. 11/18/24.

We're so sorry you find yourself here with this worry, @breastsboomer1, we know how overwhelming this can be. Right now there's a lot you don't know, and while we absolutely understand being scared and concerned, a lump doesn't always (or even most of the time) mean you have breast cancer. It's important to try and take it a day at a time and not jump to the worst possible scenario, especially since you don't know what you're dealing with yet!
We're so glad you were able to find a doctor to see you, although we know the insurance issue is adding to your stress. Depending on where you live, there may be social programs in place to help alleviate some of the cost and connect you with the appropriate medical care. You'll also want to contact health and human services in your county/state to see if you meet the criteria for coverage under one of your state's medical insurance programs like Medicaid, and when you're able to see the doctor, also set aside some time to talk through your options for financial assistance and patient programs. We have some resources HERE that you might find helpful.
Please keep us posted on what you learn, we're all here for you!
