Before surgery, looking for connection

I am 37 and was recently diagnosed with DCIS ER+ and recommended to have a lumpectomy, radiation and hormone therapy. I am very concerned and resistant to radiation and hormone therapy, but will deal with those decisions after the surgery. I am American who has been living in a foreign country for 10 years, so I am also navigating a medical system in a second language, but also I have full health care coverage and it's generally considered a good health system.
I am supposed to have the lumpectomy within a month, here it's supposed to happen within 4 months of the biopsy results. A few months have passed, and I have been through a lot of emotions. Friends here tried to connect me to others with breast cancer but I found that I didn't relate to their cases, and I don't think it was a good idea for me to talk to people at a totally different age or a totally different stage of cancer. Being stage 0, it feels complicated to even regard this as cancer or not - it seems to be both at the same time. I would like to connect and have conversations with people who might be a similar diagnosis and age. I know the context will be slightly different because I live abroad, but I am having a hard time connecting to support groups where I live because I am less comfortable talking about this in my second language.

@l4499265 - Welcome to the community! We're glad you found us, and we’re confident you’ll connect with others here who share a similar diagnosis and understand what you’re going through. It’s completely valid to want to connect with others your age and with similar experiences. If you want, you can also check out the Young With Breast Cancer forum, where you can get in touch with others diagnosed under 40.

Hope this helps! We look forward to hearing more from you soon!
