Partial response to TH.

Has anyone gone through chemo and didn’t get complete response and have to start Kadcycla?

Comments

  • Yes, me. I was triple positive and did 12 weeks of taxol with herceptin and perjeta and really only had a minimal response. Presumably this was because my tumors were grade 1. I knew going in that pCR was probably not going to happen, but was still shocked at how much residual disease I had at surgery. I did 14 rounds of Kadcyla over 10 1/2 months. It was definitely easier than chemo, but not as easy as my MO made it sound like it would be. I finished in July of 2023 and am good so far.

thank you the feedback. I will be starting zometa this up coming Wednesday. Currently, my treatments are the same as yours. I now have osteoporosis too. Any tips on the Zometa for me?

  • The first zometa was very hard. It hit me the third day. I felt like I had the flu: high fever, chills, nausea, aches, etc. I was in bed for 3 days. My MO said that in her experience 100% of her patients have that reaction, although I have read posts here of people who barely had any reaction at all, so you might get lucky. The second one I had a much milder reaction, again on the third day. Low-grade fever and a general unwell feeling for about a day and a half. I just had my third one on Jan. 2 and it was completely fine, no problems.

Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones, but just be prepared and know that the first is the worst; it gets better.

thanks again. Are you experiencing any body aches, joint stiffness and pain, back pain from anastrozole? I’m having all those symptoms. I hope it’s from the anastrozole and not bone Mets.

  • Unfortunately I have all those symptoms from anastrozole. I also have nausea, vaginal dryness, and moodiness. It's like a roller coaster: sometimes they bother me a lot and sometimes they are barely noticeable. The worst for me is the pain in my knees.

Hi @unguyen, how did your first Zometa go? How are you feeling now you are 3 days post infusion? Thinking of you!

thank you so much for checking in on me. I had severe body ache on day of treatment around evening. Took Tylenol before and after treatment and even at night to help the ache. It was bad but got better the following day. I am still having ache but mild and am not taking any meds at the moment. I actually went to the gym on Friday and today, Saturday to combat the aching. Hot hot shower did help. Thank you so much for this wonderful group. May God continues to bless us all and help us through this ordeal.
