Synchronous Bilateral Breast Cancer IDC

I had non-synchronous bilateral breast cancer (or at least, non-synchronously diagnosed).
My understanding is that every instance of invasive cancer by definition represents another opportunity for cancer cells to escape the breast and potentially one day metastasize. But I don't think it should make a difference whether it is bilateral or unilateral.
I think when a person has multiple tumors, they generally go by the risk profile of higher risk tumor (and also treat according to that).
Both of your tumors are very small, which is good, but to have a more clear idea of the risk profile and recommended treatment, you would need to know the genetic markers (usually comes after the biopsy and is confirmed after surgery).
FWIW, I was recommended to lumpectomy both times (plus radiation). But since my second tumor grew while I was on SERM hormonal therapy, I was recommended to switch ovarian suppression plus aromatase inhibitors. My tumor profile was ER+/PR+/HER- both times.
Have you had a first appointment with a surgeon or medical oncologist already?
